What is the deal with Breeding Season?

I am just very angry about the "amateurs", because I am working as DevOps in a company, means I am both programmer and administrator. It isn't unusual that I even work 50-60 a week and have very strict shedules about projects, so working very hard for my money. If I see people "playing" programmers, taking away more money from people than I earn, it makes me just furious.

I feel you brother I really do. Software engineering is a discipline and the bigger the project the more discipline is needed.

While you both are programmer, me as a 3D animator working on small studio are so furious when they using nude 3D models as bait.

Look how many S-Games that have 3D motion sex-scene are so underrated !!! :@

Yeah i'am always angry about these one man stories about .. hey i will code the next cool 3d-porn game with Unity or Unreal .. here see i got a 3d-daz model running around in unity/unreal (Quite often simply using the poser animator). Sure that is a noteworthy task (don't think that Unity offers example code to get that done) but nevertheless that's about 1% of a game and you mostly never see any improvement in the 3d-models simply because ..fuck..3d modelling is really needing creativity and TIME. Even fixing minor seams with blender is eating my soul.

I am working on a improving content for NWN2 and this is one my most troubled spots.

I have no expertise in 3D modelling / texturing / weighting / rigging. :(

So yea, I am a software developer.. I can animate with a rigged mesh already done.. but it's hard to be a jack of all trades and time consuming.

As others have said before, it seems that Patreon is a breeding ground for/statistical abnormality of:

  • People with major health issues.
  • People with doctors who can't seem to diagnose them properly.
  • People with diseases and conditions that before now have been unknown to medical science.
  • Family Drama and/or personal problems.
  • People with really bad Internet access.
  • People with really shitty computers.
  • People with hard drive failures.
  • People who make no backups.
  • People who have endless problems with hosting companies and APIs.

The same excuses get used by a lot of mod makers or those who distribute their work for free but at least they aren't making a small fortune every month - even factoring in the cut Patreon takes and taxes - I'm okay with people being a bit lazy or getting distracted sometimes but with some projects it's beyond the joke at this point.

The two decent examples of all those that I've supported I can give  - and even that's a relative term as the output really isn't commensurate with the money they're making but they're better than others - are Fenoxo/Trials In Tainted Space ($20,147 USD per month) and Kaliyo/Roundscape Adorevia ($15,662 USD per month). I've supported a lot of projects in my time but not continued to support very many. There are a few others I'm keeping an eye on - the demos look impressive but are really short - but I'm open to recommendations at this point.

Some of the games are pretty much the equivelant of Unity or Gaming Engine demos that plagued Steam Greenlight and Early Access at the start.

I'm actually surprised that given the money and consumer base that seems to be available that some company or group hasn't come up with something that has both decent gameplay and adult content... hell all that's coming to mind currently is Kamidori Alchemy Meister, even something like Monster Girl Quest which I love arguably didn't have the best game play.

Not that it really needs to be said (its pretty much everywhere atm and people here already called it a scam), but just to basicly close this threads question:

Breeding season is officially dead now. One of the "devs" took half of the money, ran and the others claim its impossible to make the game without his work. So even though they were still milking patreons for +-40k a month they just closed everything down after delivering basicly nothing.

*clap clap*

According to the developer, its worse than the artist just running off. Apparently he's now claiming that all art assets in the game are legally his (and apparently has a contract to back this up), and he will sue if they continue to use them. Since the vast majority of the games art is from that one person, the game was essentially set back to square one.

Not only did the artist not give any warning, he attempted to poach several members of the breeding season team to work on his new game, which seems to be the exact same bloody thing.

Heres the link to the blogpost.

If they didn't try to milk patrons for more money by completely overhauling sprites every two months they might have had something to show for all the time spent on the game.

Also, a game called "Breeding Season" has little to no pregnancy content.

This new game may be worth checking out. In about 3 years from now. Maybe. I did support Breeding Season but will not pay one cent for this new creation until it's clearly more finished than Breeding Season was at the end.

Sorry if this comes off as rude or ignorant.. but what is the deal with Breeding Season?

http://breedingseasongame.blogspot.ca/

As far as I can tell it just seems like a very low quality adult flash game with a team who rarely communicates to patreon backers and is constantly creating excuses for missed deadlines and lack of technical skills on their team.

The progress is extremely slow.. I check the game every 6 months and it generally is still the same bare bones crappy flash game with little or no changes..

Which wouldn't be a big deal except they make about 30 000 USD a month.

Like I don't want to be too ignorant - I appreciate all adult games out there and Patreon is a donation fueled system but Is there some kind of fetish community I don't know about?

Loverslab and Kinky World make a fraction of that..

Am I missing something - does anyone know more about this game, donate for it ect..?

As a developer (ignore my posts I'm not an advertiser) I think the developer is a dick, I'm serious, I really don't like him. If I had resources like him I would do so much more, hell you can call me an asshole advertising scumbag but I don't give a fuck, what has he done? Added 3 animations? WTF get fucking AnimeStudio and rig 3-4 characters for animations and you're done.... I've programmed in AS3 for 4 years now (really I just don't use it beyond personal boredom) and what he's doing it pathetic, it's basic click then play animation with buttons overlaying, fucking sad. Thank god I'm drunk as fucking fuck and will post this because my fucking god he pisses me off. As a Canadian, he's scum (looked at .ca)

Yes. The vast majority of big money makers on patreon aren't releasing anything. I'm about to withdraw my support from YummyTiger, HeavenStudios and a couple of others if something decent isn't released before next month. So far they have playable demos. YummyTiger has been "working" on Aylia's story (it's an amazing game so far with gorgeous art and wonderful story, don't get me wrong) for about a year and a half now. I checked out the playable demo during his first month, and now, one YEAR later, it's literally the exact same demo and all he's doing now is a translation project. Highly unimpressed, but I'm giving a chance to him because I like his game's potential. Same with heaven studios. They started last year and planned 5 games for a huge story and still only have a public demo available. HS is making about 2-3k a month and YT (who promised to go full time LAST YEAR if he could reach 4k but is still part time) is making about 8-9k a month with absolutely ZERO progress on his game since I was here last year. Not only that, but he has an upcoming "vacation trip" that has been "planned for months". He sounds super hype about his game, but to me patreon just screams laziness. Unfortunately the people are great artists and storytellers, but they're all lazy SOB's that don't want to actually work on their promises. My suggestion as someone who's donated 50 bucks this past 1st to patreon to see how things were coming along after a year? Don't. They're shit tier. Their demos are FAR BETTER than anything on DLsite (DLsite is full of trash with a few RARE gems), unfortunately they're riding the tidal wave of free money without working. I'm pulling out of everything except for loverslab before next month if there isn't some SERIOUS progress.

The issue is that you don't understand Japanese. DLsite has some really top notch Animations. And I've got a decent sized list of really well done games.

A lot of times, DLsite releases smaller games because they don't have the funding people shove into Patreon titles.

Sorry for the Necro - I just realized though that Breeding Season is officially dead.

http://breedingseasongame.blogspot.ca/

TL;DR

- The lead artist ran off and created a new patreon ripping all the art he did

- In total he was paid 190 000 dollars.. for essentially nothing (a few sprite loops)

- The creator has released a drop box with an obvious password to leak all the art

What a shit show.. wish I could say I was surprised..
