Random drops from solid 60 FPS to 20 (heavily modded Skyrim)

Do you really expect us to take a guess on your problem with literally 0 information?

- Computer and graphic card

- ENB? Wich one?

- Mod list

Well since you wrote "heavily modded" i can only assume it's one or multiple of your mods, since you gave no more information.

Also in which areas is it. Is it only for a second anytime and anywhere, or is it in specific areas etc.

Posted

Simple.  Go to Skyrim Directory and edit file enblocal.ini.  Change "ReservedMemorySizeMb=1024".  Also change "VideoMemorySizeMb=7907".  I've done this on four PCs, each with over 100 Skyrim mods and each running a different ENB.  All of them were frame dipping to the low 10's and 20's for no reason.  After the edit changes, no more problems.

NOTE:  All 4 PCs have 16gb of DDR3 RAM (1333, 1600, 1866, and 2133 respectively).  Two PCs have GTX 670 2GB.  Third PC has GTX 760 SLI 4GB, and Last One PC has GTX 970s SLI.

P.S.  "VideoMemorySizeMb=7907" seemed to work for me probably by sheer luck.  To "properly" calculate the result, most people would recommend you use this:  http://enbdev.com/download_vramsizetest.htm

Let me know how it goes.  Good luck!

For Example, mine:

[PERFORMANCE]
SpeedHack=true
EnableOcclusionCulling=false

[MULTIHEAD]
ForceVideoAdapterIndex=false
VideoAdapterIndex=0

[MEMORY]
ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true  //set to false if experiencing crashing when using with the SKSE ini (Sheson's Memory Patch).
ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=true
DisableDriverMemoryManager=false
DisablePreloadToVRAM=false
EnableUnsafeMemoryHacks=false
ReservedMemorySizeMb=1024
VideoMemorySizeMb=7907
EnableCompression=false
AutodetectVideoMemorySize=false

i think you just replied the wrong topic :P

@Tefajo

What makes you say that?

The OP's title is:

Random drops from solid 60 FPS to 20 (heavily modded Skyrim)

And I blatantly say in my response "All of them were frame dipping to the low 10's and 20's for no reason.  After the edit changes, no more problems."  Good try, though, don't give up.

And you made a post of enb settings without even knowing if he had enb or what computer is he running the game on. So yeah, didnt seem like you were answering the right thread because it wouldnt make sense you jumping to a conclusion with literally 0 information

With your logic i could say "disable Skyrim Flora Overhaul".... i mean, it could be... right? :P

@Tefajo
Well, he did say heavily modded and the fact that his frames are dipping heavily. What's the likeliest culprit for such a thing? Texture packs? Lol. No. It's more likely an ENB. Besides, it sounds like you're just pissed off I gave him an actual response rather than tell him to gtfo like you did because he didn't post his load order like it's mandatory or something. Half the time Load orders help, half the time they don't. Process of elimination goes, for those who use logic anyway, is to not waste time and provide the most simplest answer first, if that doesn't work, then ask for elaboration.  90% of the time when someone has a modding problem helpers like us always ask for elaboration regardless.   You should know that.  Anyway, I'm trying to be helpful by giving him a solution that I have proven worked for me, you're just being hateful to op and to me. Maybe you had a bad day because now you're just causing unnecessary problems with your unnecessary confrontations, but I'll forgive you anyway.

P.S.  Obviously you didn't know so I must now tell you:  mods that overhaul Skyrim's floral number far less than ENBs.  Meaning it's a hundred times more likely he'd have an ENB than a flora overhaul.  But, like I said earlier, don't give up.  I've seen you help out people on here so I'll give you some recognition.

First of all, i am not "pissed off". Why would i be? do you see me ranting in all skyrim tech support threads when its not me the one who answers? I promise you, you are misjudging me.

You answer might be right, but it would still be a conclusion based on a guess. A good guess? yes, probably, yet we can't tell if you are right or i am right or the next guy is right if we know nothing of it. For example, i have ENB and i never drop from 60 fps to 20...

Its his obligation to provide information so we "the helpers" can take better conclusions, .. dont you think? :)

Yes, he did said "heavily modded",  and we could all take good guesses. You say that it can't be Skyrim Flora Overhaul or texture packs (i only mentioned SFO as an example, but lets keep it) Why not? If he has a 1gb vram card, dont you think it could be possible?  And if he installed 4k texurte packs with a 2gb vram? And i could go on...

Anyway... i do not feel its a competition or that this is important enough to get an arguement with you.

I am sorry if you misunderstood my intentions, i honestly thought you wanted to answer another thread and posted here by mistake (it happened to me once!)

I will leave this thread to you so you answer what ever you think its best

Best regards

"Its his obligation to provide information so we "the helpers" can take better conclusions, .. dont you think?"  I never disagreed with this, why bother asking such a pointless question?

No matter how you look at it, the OP gave us a vague question but instead of getting annoyed by him, just give him an answer that you think will work.  Which is exactly what I did.  It's not a competition though and I never said it was either but I'm sure everyone will agree my approach is a hundred times more helpful and appropriate than yours.  Fact.  Logic.  Common sense.  Stop wasting time with pointless heckling and confrontation.  We never did anything to you.

Please stop, just stop, you're shooting yourself in the foot.  If their 'heavily modded' Skyrim game can reach 60fps... logic would dictate it's very unlikely they're using a 1GB card.

BTW, where the heck is the OP?

Just the title, thanks for the help.

Random drops means new pc. so you can go buy a better one no more drop of fps. simple question require simple solution.
