[Modding] Trying to make a clothing replacer

Hello, I'm trying to replace generic NPC clothes with those from Luxury Collection for CBBE HDT.  I'm new to this, so have been going through various tutorials, and keep thinking that what I've done should work, but...

I did a basic test mod, that replaced a Forsworn Cuirass with an item of clothing(Using Tes5edit).  Worked for the females, but the males lost their torso.  I don't fully understand what to do to fix that, but I realise its due to the meshes not being pointed to something male in the CK.

 

Following on from that, I then used Tes5edit again, and replaced the 'clothesAll' bit of the clothing levelled list, with those from Lux.  This did not work, farmers(who I spawned through the console) spawned with their normal clothes, and didn't have any other clothes in their inventory.

I then tried Effortless Level List Creation and used the tutorial there to do the editing, direct link to video here.  Still no joy.  
LOOT didn't like where the merged patch made by Tes5edit went, but if I left it where the tutorial said, then I just got a CTD when trying to load any save, or start a new game.  Leaving it where LOOT wanted it, further up the load order, did allow the game to run, but without the replaced items.  

If you could point me toward other useful tutorials, or let me know what I might be missing, that would be great, thanks!  If I do get it working(and receive ApoKrytias' permission) I shall of course make it available to anyone who wants to use it.  :-)

I recommend you to use CK, TS5Edit will make it more confusing to start with, I do not recommend you to replace a default armor model, it is better to use leveled list:

 

-open the armor mod esp on CK set it as active file

-go to items, leveled items, and find the leveld list where you want to add your armor for example: bandit

-You will notice that there is a leveled list for each piece of the armor, Body, boots, hat, etc, double click the desired leveled list and then go to items, armor, and search for the armors you want on the leveled list, I recommend you to click on Form ID, so all the edited IDs will go to the top you will notice an * aside every ID the mod modified or created, just drag and drop the armors you want on the respective leveled list, you can make the possibility higher for each item if you add the same item more than one time, also put them on lvl 1 .

-If you want the NPC's to only wear that clothing you then should delete all the other clothing on that lvled list and leave only tours, I don't recommend this, but you can easily revert back deleting these changes on TS5edit.

 

and by this all NPC using that lvled list will wear the desired clothes.

Hello, I'm trying to replace generic NPC clothes with those from Luxury Collection for CBBE HDT.  I'm new to this, so have been going through various tutorials, and keep thinking that what I've done should work, but...

 

I did a basic test mod, that replaced a Forsworn Cuirass with an item of clothing(Using Tes5edit).  Worked for the females, but the males lost their torso.  I don't fully understand what to do to fix that, but I realise its due to the meshes not being pointed to something male in the CK.

 

Following on from that, I then used Tes5edit again, and replaced the 'clothesAll' bit of the clothing levelled list, with those from Lux.  This did not work, farmers(who I spawned through the console) spawned with their normal clothes, and didn't have any other clothes in their inventory.

 

I then tried Effortless Level List Creation and used the tutorial there to do the editing, direct link to video here.  Still no joy.  

LOOT didn't like where the merged patch made by Tes5edit went, but if I left it where the tutorial said, then I just got a CTD when trying to load any save, or start a new game.  Leaving it where LOOT wanted it, further up the load order, did allow the game to run, but without the replaced items.  

 

If you could point me toward other useful tutorials, or let me know what I might be missing, that would be great, thanks!  If I do get it working(and receive ApoKrytias' permission) I shall of course make it available to anyone who wants to use it.  :-)
