If you're looking for a glossy effect I can help with that. Oily-look though, I've never done that.

does grossy effect look like some choco elf screenshot? (there is many choco elf thread in this forum)

if that please tell me how to do it

yes' date=' that grossy look, i want it

is it simple to do? or complicated?

Not really. Just make sure you have the right meshes and textures. In particular, MBP and XEO Chocolate Elves give you the option of choosing "oily" versions, so make sure you select Oily 2 or whatever the highest version is.

Then, read the following post: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=33&pid=124#pid124

But if you want a tool that somewhat automates it for you, check this out: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=33&pid=497#pid497

I have to warn you though the tool above is quite powerful in that it'll try to glossify any .nif file that gets thrown in there so be sure you drag in only the ones you want modified. As always, make backups prior.

But basically, your questions are answered on the thread that HanPL linked you to. :)

EDIT: The procedures above assumes that your character will be naked. You'll notice that if you give clothes to your character parts of their body will not appear oily or glossy. The solution is to glossify the clothes' .nif files as well. But this comes with a price: Anyone else who doesn't have a glossy body but wears the same clothes will also have an oily body but without an oily head. (Lol this sounds so wrong...)

i read some post there, but really didn't read all, so i didn't remember it there, thanks

i used oiled textures from Chocolate elves race, then use GrossMax which Donkey introduced in that post,

all body part was ok, but face texture file of chocolate elves and this race (i'm using Synx race face) are different size (1.3mb and 5mb) is it ok? Synx race is using Ren_Head mesh

Head meshes can be glossed as well.

I would recommend it as you will deal with a 'seam' at the neck of non-glossed head with bodies. Since it's two different files you'll have to gloss both to see the effect on either the Synx or Choco elf.

The Glossmax tool didn't work for my head meshes. So I used the Nif-scope tool or something like that to activate the meshes directly and change the material properties.

A tutorial for that is on the first page of Amox's Choco-elf Research trend, I think it's the fifth post down.

It was working on my character, but then when i come outside, kill some bandit, loot there body, then i seen all body is mesh up (stretch or some wierd figure),then i reverted back to all original file, it look fine again but no more grossy (of course, original mess, texture has no gross effect)

Hmm, that's weird. If you used the tool GlossyMax then it's supposed to just glossify the skin. And even if you went the long route by modifying them through Nifskope, in theory you would only be glossifying the skin textures as well. In other words, you wouldn't be manipulating the actual meshes themselves.

The only thing I can think of is that somehow in the process you either misplaced some files by mistake, or perhaps another mod is causing some sort of conflict and you never really noticed it until now. If possible, if you could post a picture maybe it'll be a little easier for us to determine.

Stretched body, like attracked to a very far point is usually a skeleton problem, you didn't change that and you were already using a "good" skeleton ?

A stretched body is almost universally a problem with the skeleton. I would recommend downloading a 'universal skeleton' like Siouliusn said. Then gloss your bodies again and see if the same happens. If you can get us a screenshot if it happens again, it would be very helpful.

I always use xxx MaximumCompabilitySkeleton (forgot xxx name, corrona or someone)

and it just wierd figures, not so stretch, but i restored all mesh and texture files back to original already, i will remake it and make some screenshots

I've just begun reading and experimenting with a few mods and have come across a few frustrations. Hopefully, one of you experienced folks would do me the honor of providing a little guidance.

I'm also trying to gloss my character's body and downloaded Glossmax for that purpose. From what I can make of the instructions I am supposed to open the exe and drop the .nif files in the window. The instructions then go on to say that I need to copy the files back over to ../data/meshes/characters/_male.. But, for one, there is nothing to be copied or pasted from the glossmax window. And secondly, the .nif files never actually moved. Paying attention to the file details however, shows that they were modified the moment I dropped them onto the Glossmax window, implying a change was made to the files.

The problem I'm having, is that when I load my save game (saved before I used Glossmax) there is no gloss on any part of the model. I've tried to save the same char as nude then retrying the process but no change. I've also tried vanilla races and Glossmax "changes" still don't appear.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can someone help?

Mods I'm using

HGEC with BBB (OMOD)

Vampire race reloaded

Diablo Elf

Apachii wigs and ears

Sleepy D Wigs

Black Luster 240

Mzerk sexy walk (from memory so probably the wrong name)

Custom race fix

Patch 1.2.0.416 (again from memory)

First of all, thanks for the response. I REALLY appreciate it!

In regards to the process of using Glossmax, the files never moved when I followed the steps provided in the instructions. So my main concern, based on the language "copy them[the .nif files] back", is that I wasn't actually using Glossmax properly to begin with. Perhaps, if you have used the program you could describe to me where (the files) are physically moved to (if they are) after being dropped into the Glossmax window.

When I follow the steps, text in the Glossmax window indicates success and the modified date of the file changes in the .../_male folder which implies the change. I did not see anything in the instructions that mentioned having to use photoshop to create the gloss effect. Although I have to admit that the original readme left me scratching my head a bit. I'll figure how to get the photoshop end of it done if I need to. But, I was under the impression that this tool was designed to save the modder that hassle based on a number of responses in various threads stating success.

I did download a "Hi Rez texture mod" which I believe is by Ozmo. It created the gloss effect on my vanilla races but not for the Vampire Reloaded or the Diablo Elf races.

Sorry if any of this seems hard-headed, I'm just starting out and most of this is still a little overwhelming. Thanks again for your time.

If the modified nif files are already in ../data/meshes/characters/_male folder' date=' then you don't need to copy them back. You also need to modify the textures to see the gloss. Here's the PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL.

Okay, so I got Glossmax to work. Unfortunately, I didn't perform a thorough step-by-step elimination process to determine what I was missing. But what I DID do was install the UOP for Oblivion and SI. Before I had simply installed the custom character fix. I also installed several different things in a not-so-orderly fashion. I also shut of AA and turned on HDR. And finally I ran Boss a couple of times in between my mod installs. I still need to make the head glossy which I believe I can do by dropping the custom head .nif file into Glossmax. I also haven't tried putting armor on and taking it off to see if the gloss goes away. I will do all that tomorrow.

Interestingly I tried two different versions of HGEC with BBB. One is manual and the other is OMOD. Manual allows you to drag and drop files while the files generated by OMOD (on my Win 7 machine) show up locked and appear to be unmovable/unmodifiable.

Thanks again for your time Vergil097!

Glossmax doesn't move the files, it just modifies them. Sorry for the confusion, I assumed you moved the nif files in a separate folder where the glossmax.exe is located. My bad :P

As for the gloss effect on custom races, you need to modify the texture yourself. Just follow the instructions in the Photoshop Tutorial and you'll be all set hehe ;)
