Grevok Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Hello, I've been moding Skyrim for over a year now, and I'm still coming across issues with crashes that happen randomly whilst I'm trying to play. I've never asked for help about this before, but when I've seen people ask for it, they keep talking about load orders and things. Obviously knowing what mods I have installed is important to figuring out the problem, but I don't know how load order works for Skyrim mods, or why it's important. If you can help me figure out why my game is crashing, and even offer a solution I would be really grateful. If you can tell me why load order is important as well, then that would be nice to know. Here's my load order (Yes I know there's a lot of them): Dawnguard.esm HearthFires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Partch.esp ApachiiHair.esm ApachiiHairFemale.esm SkyTEST-RealisticAnimals&Predators.esm Campfire.esm MFVM.esm HighResTexturePach01.esp HighResTexturePach02.esp HighResTexturePach03.esp LegacyoftheDragonborn.esp DBM_IMIA_Patch.esp 3DNPC.esp Immersive Weapons.esp Hothtrooper44_Armor_Ecksstra.esp Hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp DSerArcheryGameplayOverhaul.esp attack commitment movement speed fluid 3.esp Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp Shut Up Mjoll!.esp Facelight.esp Frostfall.esp iNeed.esp Killable Lootable Children.esp Midas Magic Expanded.esp MIDFollowMeCloser.esp My Home Is Your Home.esp No NPC Greetings.esp RaceMenu.esp RaceMenuPlugin.esp SkyUI.esp TKDodge.esp TradeBarter.esp VioLens.esp UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul.esp UIExtensions.esp UltimateCombat.esp vMYC_MeetYourCharacters.esp brawlbug-plugin.esp CobbEncumberance.esp Headtracking.esp Immersive Music Replacer.esp Immersive Music Temples.esp Immersive Music.esp SimplyKnock.esp Immersive Horses.esp AnimFix.esp KillEssential.esp Serana No Hood.esp Serana.esp UltimateDragons.esp Dark Souls - Havel The Rock - Armor Set - Weapons (Subscribed) Faction: Pit Fighter (Subscribed) wizDynamicThings.esp Aela.esp BW Delphine.esp BW Eola.esp BW Ingjard.esp BW Iona.esp BW Lydia.esp Mjoll.esp Uthgerd.esp Rebirth Monster.esp BW Ria.esp KS Hairdo's.esp FNIS.esp dD - Realistic Ragdoll Force - Realistic.esp XPMSE.esp FNIS_PCEA2.esp Camilla.esp Maven.esp Sylgja.esp Taarie.esp Temba.esp Vex.esp Ysolda.esp Thanks for any help you can offer, I'm so confused as to why it's crashing right now, and it's really beginning to bug me. Also, as a side note, anyone know how to get Mjoll to shut the fuck up? She's one of my favourite followers, but she keeps saying the same random things every 3 bloody seconds. The mod ShutUpMjoll!.esp doesn't seem to be helping at all. She's kind of getting infuriating.
Piratenbraut Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Well, on a short view there are a lot of things that should be in another place. Alternate Start for example put it all the way down. I don`t know how you handle your mod order, but I would recommend to get Loot. That will not solve your problems immediately, but it`s a good start. Random Crashs can be a mod conflict or your computer is running out of memory. And how random are your crashes? Or do they happen in specific places?
alpalia Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 cant really help as everybody have different trouble with this kind of bug and differents mod load. but still i can try give some advice to help a little 1 - you should merge all the BW together, this can make more space and les stress to load order (just sugestion. i think someone have make an mod that already merge all of them on nexus) 2 - the "mjoll shut up" mod should maybe be placed at end of the load order for make it work, as you use other mod that affect mjoll after (like "mjoll.esp" , this one can break the mjoll shut up mod) 2 - the unofficial patch should be placed AFTER all the .esm on the list (i know this sound like shit, but trust me, its better to put the .esp after all the .esm whatever the .esm they are linked to) you say you crash randomly : - did you crash after and action ? (ex : open an door, openan container, go into an city, into an house,etc..) - did you crash during fight ? - did you crash outside or inside ? if both, where did you crash the most ? its just some question, because they are tons of possibility to make this crash, such as bad load, script overload, CPU trouble, GPU trouble, incompatibility mods, missing mods,etc.. sorry if i not help alot, but this questions infos can be precious for help you
kevlar69 Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Load Order: Because each mod can over-write things that other mods do, the load order is very important. If you have one mod that changes a bunch of records or scripts or whatever, and then another mod follows it in the 'load order' and changes some of those same things. This creates instability, since the earlier mod now sees a bunch of things different than it expected it, and may not be able to deal with it. Do this with two or three hundred mods and it becomes much trickier. Which is why many mod authors post information on compatibility, load order and all that. As everyone else said, there are MANY different causes of CTD. Really, a mind-boggling huge number of things can go wrong with Bethesda bugs, missing textures, poorly written mods, incompatible mods, bad load orders, overtaxed machines, and all that. That being said, LOOT is the first thing to try for your issue. Your order is totally different than what I have seen come out of LOOT or the older BOSS sorting programs. Correcting this really could sort everything out for you (pun intended). PS. I use STEP, LL mods, Requiem and have hit the 255 max mods (es*) limit a few times. If you intend to do something similarly insane, I highly recommend Mod Organizer and LOOT. STEP is good too, but quite a lot of work to keep up with.
Teddar Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 As already suggest. LOOT is a good tool to sort your mods. Once you start installing naughty mods (and by naughty i mean the kind of mods that you will find here but not on the nexus) things can get more complicated. At that point you should check the first post of each mod for the "also required" mods as it is entirely possible to get your game running with a missing requirement only for it to crash when another mod calls for a mod which isn't there. If there is an .ESP missing you will CTD but there can be other soft requirements with some mods which can cause problems if they aren't present. As well as LOOT, i recommend TES5Edit as you can use this tool to check load-order and missing requirements without running the game. Concerning your follower never shutting up.Try this "http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/746/?"
