D_ManXX2 Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 I have been testing 2 profiles with mod organizer 1 profile i played with a cleaned DLC and another profile with the regular dlc And the first thing i have noticed is that with the cleaned version npc's suddenly stop when they are usually following a path while with the normal dlc uncleaned version the npc's where moving correctly ??? So why are we even cleaning these dlc's ?? i failed to see what is broken like TESVEdit is claiming. So as you can see by cleaning the DLC, my game actually became broken.
Storms of Superior Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 Maybe it's just a mistake on the part of TES5edit? I don't get any warnings about dirty edits or anything any more, so I don't know what to think.
Guest Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 "Gleaning" a DLC is actually a very delicate process. You may remove some bad references that are still in the vanilla game. But really often you end by having some inconsistencies here and there. The path-ing no more working is probably because of a no more valid navmesh.
D_ManXX2 Posted April 24, 2016 Author Posted April 24, 2016 CPU but why is cleaning it necaccary ?? if the cleaning is braking the navmesh isn't it dangerous to even clean the official DLC ?? if it really was broken why has bethesda not fixed this part. The only reason i brought this part out is i never even cleaned these dlc before and never had the trouble users where having previously. but the trouble for me started when i cleaned the DLC and now npc will first run and suddenly stop and no walking around. Witch is weird because before cleaning npc's where not behaving this way in my game.

I do not clean them. But I use the USLEEP that fixes many of the problems. When I start a game (usually only to debug and develop my mods) I have a few traces of bad stuff in DLCs. But nothing really bad. And because I just do modding, I don't care too much if a vanilla quest does not work correctly. What actually the TES5Edit does in cleaning is unknown to me. I have only clues.
D_ManXX2 Posted April 24, 2016 Author Posted April 24, 2016 I do not clean them Thanks yes i think i will stay away from this tool for now on. i do have usleep too so i don't really need any cleaning. It may be doing more harm to my game then good. The only mods i try to avoid are the once whitch have deleted vanilla navmesh. and could cause crashes.
WraithSlayer Posted April 24, 2016 Posted April 24, 2016 TES5Edit is an extremely useful tool for a variety of purposes, but the cleaning feature is something I've always found a bit strange, at least when applied to Update.esm and the official DLCs. It's supposed to get rid of mistakes like identical-to-master records that Bethesda left in, but the universally recommended load order is that Update.esm and the DLC come right after Skyrim.esm, so it doesn't even matter if they have ITM records or not, no mod will ever break due to it. As for the other things it's supposed to fix (deleted references/navmeshes, wild edits), the unofficial patch already covers those.
