moddingnoob Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Can I use NMM to install mods, or do I have to use OBMM for the mods here? Anyway, my problem is that, after installing all the unofficial patches, obmm freezes up whenever I try to create new omods. Add an archive, freezes. Add a folder, might do it, but when I hit create, it freezes. Try to activate a mod, freezes. Is there something I'm doing wrong with obmm?
gregathit Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 You "can" use NMM. However, it would be better to figure out why OBMM is wonking out. Now if it is a large mod you are adding, yes, it is normal for it to freeze, for quite a while depending on the size of the mod. It actually isn't "frozen" it is working correctly. You can go watch a movie or eat dinner and come back to see if it finished. You other alternatives are Wyre Bash and Manual installation. Both are a bit tougher of a learning curve. Just remember with NMM that it sucks installing things that involve animations and ini files. NEVER use it to install any of the sex mods found here. It fucks them up every time.
Anatriax Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Mod Organizer is also a viable option, as well. Several tutorials are available across the net for Mod Organizer. It's just a touch tricky to get working if you have the STEAM version of Oblivion.
Vaelorian Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I've been preaching to use TESMM for a long, long while - and few people have caught on. TESMM is the continuation of OBMM; it's faster, works better and in more situations and doesn't freeze even on a set-up with 240 active esp\esm files (and hundreds more merged into those). And since it's a common mistake, no, TESMM is not NMM.
fejeena Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 TES MM http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/5010/? But I never had problems with the OBMM
