So much nostalgia xD this mod was awesome, real walking animation with the camera I miss it :'(

And you

1. Oblivion's char-generator, Skyrim's... is just crap :(((((((((((

2. Races and armors /(modded)

3. Music

4. Better Cities

I miss Oblivion's Character generator and how it gave you a good look at your face.

Also a couple animation replacers. Mainly the Pretty Woman idles and the "skydive" jump.

Posted

The built in spell creation system (contrived though it was).

I enjoyed making custom spells to fit specific needs, the tier progression in Skyrim feels a bit cumbersome compared to that. Well, and then there was the modding of custom spell creation...

I miss the number of canon fodder npcs oblivion had..or appeared to have, it just felt so gratifying to play a serial killer who broke into someone's home every night and took their life, In skyrim, there just doesn't seem to be enough houses and people to do that with.

4. Better Cities

Seconding these. I liked how easy it was to inject nearly any mp3 into the game. I miss that. Cyrodiil needed BC + Unique Landscapes. Skyrim needs a few tweaks; Whiterun should feel like the Market District, the Falkreath Cemetary should rival Green Emperor's Way, those kind of tweaks.

I miss humor. Every city in Cyodiil had someone or something amusing; Mahei and his nagging fishwife, the junkies in Bravil, Anvil Fight Club, Glarthir, J'skar and Volanaro. Skyrim needs fewer Blades, more Renrijra Krin, if that makes any sense. I understand DARK TIMES, but fuck... Yes, yes, WINTER IS COMING. But so is Spring, and Summer after that.

I can think of at LEAST a dozen perma-essential NPCs that deserve to be pantsed, ala Stark Reality. Complete with "We've all seen you naked, Maven/Delphine/Vex, take your death threats and ultimatums and generally deplorable attitude somewhere else." Ma gavte la nata.

1. Character generation options (plus the mod that would give you numbers for each setting so you could duplicate a character with relative ease if you wanted without doing a face transfer).

2. Facial expressions.

3. More interesting guild quests. Actually, quests in general.

4. Armor slots. Yes, I know people can work around this in the CK, but it's annoying.

5. Background NPC conversations. I liked them better.

6. Horse mechanics.

There's more but I don't want to sound like I'm complaining.

I miss how ugly the horrifically ugly NPC's were in Oblivion, and how dumb the voice acting sounded. It DID add an element of comedy to the game though I guess. Some people had literally SQUARE shaped faces, some had mouths half way up their head, some had eyes in places that would give kids nightmares. Obviously the results of generations of incest!

I guess in all seriousness then, I dont really miss much from it lol. It had better graphics than Skyrim, (strangely enough), except a few touches, but IMO graphics are only 1 side of the coin. Skyrim compensated with more of the OTHER side of the coin.

Im trying to think HARD, but I really cant think of anything I missed. I know there should be something cos I loved that game, but.... OH YEA, the Planes of Oblivion?

Everything.

In my opinion Oblivion is much better than Skyrim.

It has more soul, i played around 100 hours skyrim but i played 500 hours Oblivion.

Skyrim is good, but it's not a masterpiece.

The fame and infamy system and how NPCs would say different things depending on your fame and infamy was a cool. I also felt that the NPCs had more life in Oblivion than Skyrim in what they have to say. Skyrim went a bit TOO far when it comes to realism and is even less enchanting then the pretty generic look Cyrodiil.

I also miss the fun quests and people from oblivion. Glarthir was a great and interesting side quest. The town of invisible people was also interesting. "Whodunit" was probably the best quest in the game. I barely remember ANY characters or quests from skyrim.

1. Spell Creation. The fact there isnt even a system for it in Skyrim is shit

2. Character Gen. I agree with everyone thus far on this. Skyrim is too limited of a gen.

3. Obrital camera. The simple ability that has been included in all Beth games since Oblivion that allows you to swing the camera around teh character without fucking typing a command each time!

1- Mur Zik walk, and the mod used to implement different walks to different women/men...

2- FCOM/OOO mod! I hate the dynamic relative leveling system :(

3- Lovers mods... and maybe a new Cursed Armor mod :)

Hm... things I miss from Oblivion...

Well, Spell Creation, and...

...uh... birthsigns, I guess...

...and... Mysticism? I think?

Frankly even the things I do, miss, I don't miss very much. Skyrim is superior to Oblivion in nearly every way imaginable, so I haven't really been given reason to feel nostalgic for Oblivion.

I miss LoversPK, THe stupid amount of weapon mods, the EASE of moodding in general to be honest, the sexy walk, DEF the camera system. stupidly annoying i cant auto walk and rotate the camera without opening up the console and sticking the camera to a specific spot.

The modded races. SO many i had installed, mostly for the women i made. and a PROPER DMRA and bodychange spell. the questing also felt better overall in oblivion than it does in skyrim. i enjoy skyrim but it feels like too much was taken from the FO engine. Oh, and the inability to kill those annoying ass children without using a mod FFS.

And being unable to equip more than 1 ring. sorry but my PC has 10 fingers, 5 on heach hand. how am i not able to equip more than 1 ring in this when oblivion at least let us wear 2?

I miss Oblivion Gates...

Haha, not really. Those things were the bane of my existence. In pretty much every game I ever played (aside from the first playthrough) I'd avoid Kvatch like the plague so I didn't have to deal with them.

I adored Oblivion at the time, but to be honest there's not much I really miss from it. I mean it took years before balance/immersion mods like OOO and Midas were seamlessly integrated, and I don't think animation mods ever really escaped clunkyville.

No, what I really -miss- is stuff from Fallout 3/New Vegas. I mean, how did we get from NV's comparitivly awesome follower controls to the bollocks we have in Skyrim? I can't even make hardcore heavy-armored tanks stop plinking away uselessly with their hunting bows; it's tragic... We have the Better Followers mod now, but it's still a long way from the handy wheel for switching between ranged and melee.

I miss VATS. Not in its entire implementation, but in the scope it gave me for targeting those locational damage zones. It added a degree of strategy to the fights that Skyrim now lacks... Imagine being able to -really- put an arrow in some guy's knee, causing him to slow down to a limp; or to bring a dragon tumbling out of the sky by critting a fireball through its wing (kinda like Cazadores in NV).

I miss ambiguity, which the Fallout games pull off better than any of the Elder Scrolls series. It was nice to be able to choose a self-serving quest outcome, and take the material gain at the cost of reputation or goodwill... Why can't I extort more valuables out of the citizens of Riften, for example, and thereby lose out on the ability to become Thane or buy a house? You wouldn't even need to change the quest, just add reward options and re-jigger the consequences.

And I miss Willow, with her bajillion pencils and TARDIS-like backpack full of teddy bears.

uhh... I miss being able to cast spells when I had both a sword and shield out... essentially I just prefer how Oblivion deals with equipping weapons and so on. If I pull out a torch in Skyrim I'll have to re-equip my weapon afterwards, while in Oblivion I could just pull out my weapon and the torch would go away, then come back when I sheathe. Casting spells with a weapon + shield was nice since it was more viable to play a sort "holy" knight build that used healing spells as well.

Item management in skyrim is just horrible, but ah... there isn't much from the vanilla oblivion game that I miss, most of what I "miss" is all modded, and stuff like that will eventually pop up in Skyrim as well. Just have to bide my time.

i also miss the choco elves race from oblivion. man i made some STUPIDLY good looking female characters with the tweaking of that race. combined with all of the other elf races. MAN, i had a good time wathcing them get attacked byt the entire town.

As much as I love the Skyrim land, I really miss the warmth of Cyrodil and often play my Oblivion game just to ride around the the land basking in the sun (all enhanced with Unique Landscapes/etc)

The player houses were much more comfy and stylish in Oblivion, I only really like two in Skyrim.

I miss Vilja! ;_;
