Help me with converting armor plz!

Hi guys,

 

I've recently tried to convert the armor of general Tulliusfrom the bodytype CBBE (killer keo's skimpy version) to CHSBHC. After reading a some guides I finally got the nif file into blender and managed to export it again. I'm using some old versions of blender,nifskope and PyFFI. Anyway to the point according to the tutorial I'm supposed to have my bodytype as a ninode and not a as nitrishape but I still somehow managed to fuck it up. Aside from this I'm sure that I made some other mistakes that I don't know about. I know that this isn't a lot of info but if anybody can help me or save me a shit ton of work and convert the armor for me I would be very gratefull. please keep in mind that I'm totally new to any of the previous mentioned programs. First time posting btw so If I posted on the wrong board please tell me.

 

I have attached the nif files of the armor for both weight 0 and 1. and a screenshot which displays one of my many mistakes.

again help or another tutorial with some tips for noobs is appreciated :D

Why would your body be a NiNode?
There is not a bone.
NiTriShape is correct.
 
Some small adjustments only necessary:
 
For all Meshes (NiTriShape's)
BS Num UV Sets -> 4097
Has Vertex Colors -> yes
Right click -> Mesh-> Face Normals
Right click -> Mesh -> Update Tangent Space
 
 
And please to remove this CHSBHC nonsense:
 
The NiTriShape "Base Mesh" (your body)
In BSDismemberSkininstance:
Set Num Partitions -> 1
2x Body Part = 32 is nonsense

This tutorial is a very good start - for some basics.

Hey Andy, Thanks a lot for being so kind to help a noob like me. I can't seem to select the BS num UV sets. I think this is because I haven't set a texture for mesh yet?

anyway thanks for the tutorial video. But I need advice 1 more time. shall I just start over, get rid of blender and use 3ds max like in the tutorials? or shall I just keep fkin around In nifskope. again thanks for the help!

Forall NiTriShapes in your Nif.

 

 

Step 1 - Face Normals

Step 4 (optional) - Fix BodyPartList - (This is an unnecessary / nonsensical setting in CHSBHC)

BSLightingShaderProperty and others seem to be in order.

(Vertex Color is not necessary here.)

 

 

Update: Vertex Colors

Set for the Armor (both meshes) (NOT the Body) Vertex Colors -  otherwise possibly black in game

Andy thanks again for helping me out and for your patience. I've managed to get the armor into skyrim so I fixed the mesh. However I can't seem to find the texture files (of the orginal armor that I modified) that I still need to add. Do you have any idea where they could be? Thanks for all the help. I also noticed that in the tutorial and your screenshots your shader flags have a value while mine both have 0 (probally because I don't have any textures). I'm sorry if I'm being an idiot and thanks for helping me out!

 

P.S. do I need to add textures to the body too?

First - you should expand the first 3 column widths in Block Details window.
With mouse in the column header (like in Excel, etc.)
 
You have no UV Scale set - usually 1 for x and y.

I can't seem to find the uv scale set, sorry about that. did expand the width in the block details window though.

It doesn't say uv scales on my screen. is it the texture repeat? it looks about the same since its also a TexCoord (whatever that is)

I do not know if you are using a different version NifSkope,
or if you have copied from another Nif the "BSLightingShaderProperty".
 
This is the original cuirass_0 from your first post.
I only Vertex_Colors set in Shader Flags 2, because the mesh Vertex Colors has.

Texture Repeat and UV Scale to have the same meaning - I think.
With mouse over on the Properties - it appears a tooltip with a short information.

I uploaded the version of the file that I'm working with atm. I'm using an older version of nifskope since the tutorial that I followed said it would be easier. I changed the texture repeat in this image and in the file. Thanks again for helping me out :D

Use the current version and no NifSkope outdated version!!!
 
 
 
- No Textures
- No Shader Flags - abolute nothing
- Incorrect Texture Clamp Mode
- Etc. - all properties have zero values

I updated nifskope and the uv scale did indeed appear (with x as 1 and y as 1). where do I go from here?

This is the prerequisite for everything else.
 
For textures and / or texture effects you should tell eventually,
what are you doing there, or do want?
 
Want to change the textures of armor?
 
If not - a copy-paste instructions:
Here is an example - the TulliusCoat mesh.
 
Open your Nif AND the original Nif - (two separate Nif window):
 
- In your Nif - select the "BSLightingShaderProperty" in NiTriShape "TulliusCoat" and press CTRL + DEL
 
- Change to the original Nif
 
- Select the "BSLightingShaderProperty" in NiTriShape of "TulliusCoat" and press Ctrl + C
 
- Change to your NIF
 
- Select "NiTriShape" of TulliusCoat and press CTRL + V
 
 
Voila - you have the BSLightingShaderProperty copied.
 
 
 
My English really sucks - probably that's the reason.
 
Where is the problem?
 
The tutorial video of Nigthasy is for beginners really very good - although not everything is explained and not everything "always right" - but it's very good.

Sorry that I didn't tell you. I do Indeed just need to copy the textures of the original armor and I did. However the armor is still invisible. any idea what can be the cause of this problem? again I'm not sure if you can use this but I also sent my latest version of the armor with this reply. Thanks for the tip though, you're a lifesaver ;)

I just noticed that something went wrong with latest version of the armor. So I'm gonna be working from last version I sent you (texture repeat).

What are you- what should be there, I have no idea and so slow and tired.

Is it a Relpacer - if so, for which arms / What Mod - please the link?

 

If not, what is in the Armor + Armor Addons Forms in CK as a body slot?

 

It would be helpful - for help - if you could maybe write more than just incomplete screenshots and something more than just a set of "hip".

Or in short: Trash in = Trash out.

 

 

Your Nif - the last post - is absolute junk.

 

In my first reply I have a link to a tutorial video and further replies from me are ALL these errors least 1x mentioned and described the solution.

Good advice - delve into the basics (tutorials, may also accept assistance, etc.) - and if the basics are understood - then you make conversion.

 

Or as saying in my German language:

Hi Andy,

 

I'm sorry this reply took so long. I'm a bit busy atm so that's why I haven't been able to reply. I will take a closer look at the tutorials you sent me. I will have some spare time again in a week or so. anyway thats all for now. I'll probally just rewatch the tutorial and then use 3ds max to start from scratch again.
