Sexual content, world-based storytelling and subtext

I made a thread a little like this before the forum had to be reset a while back, but now the game has been out a while longer it's time to do it a little more deeply. Giggity.

Warning of some spoilers, if they are relevant.

More than one of us raised an eyebrow when the rating came through with having any mention of sexuality and dark, gritty themes. Practically every Bethesda game gets that. From Daggerboobs and it's background for Barenziah and forced abortion, to Morrowind's resident mage who has 'wife' clones and the perpetually slimy Crassius, to Oblivion with it's necrophilia laws, and Skyrim with sex slave ghosts and thief girls who have Rape as Drama backstories (and Serana's origin story, of course).

When you bring Fallout into the equation, it's even more baffling. In Fallout 1 there are several sexual encounters. In Fallout 2 you can whore yourself out to get a discount on a slave, end up in a shotgun wedding due to sleeping with a farm-girl who has slept with half the town, from a very young age according to Conrnelius ramblings, including her brother, and said brother who is implied to have spent too much time with the Brahmin. Let's also not forget being the gimp of a Super Mutant for the night and being ruthlessly mocked for it later, becoming a porn star, ect. In Fallout 3 you don't get much action yourself; but there is plenty of implied stuff, such the Tunnel Snakes bullying Amata, Clover's background and personality, Silver, Trogs still liking to fuck, and so on. New Vegas returns to the FO2 ways, with various encounters, one of which screwing your attempted murderer to get close enough to kill him.

So... was Fallout 4 going to be a sterile, watered down version of the Fallout setting?

Or more aptly, is it?

Well, thankfully I'd say not, though personally I haven't run across a great deal, there is 'enough' stuff to give the wasteland some grit and color beyond just violence and ruin. Things I've found or been told;

- Needless to say, fade to black/while sleeping times with Lover companions, and their following comments.

- Magnolia, and being able to seduce her with either Nate or Nora.

- Ghouls giving someone radiation infused STDs on a medical log on the Prydwen.

- The Synth 'companion' in the Institute, the rather fugly first of her kind.

- Cait's background with the raiders.

- The Vault that never had a member over 18; embryo harvesting and so forth. Pretty ick.

- Adultery in Diamond City with the bar owner and the unhappy wife.

- Rebosexuality, also in Diamond, with the teacher and his robot.

- There are various skeletons placed with paddles/cutting boards in their hands, one a lady with a man over her lap.

I'm sure there are more, but these are all that spring to mind right now. Your turn; what have you guys and gals discovered on your adventures? Not just things the player can take part in. Stories told by the worldspace, items left in odd places that would imply something naughty, and characters backstories.

They breed and rape? Citation? Not calling you a liar or anything, I'm just really curious, as I miss the sexually active mutants of old. I suppose they must still have their genitals, or they wouldn't bother giving them underwear,

 

It comes to mind that giving the ghouls their dicks back will likely be an early mod when we get the tools to give them their tools back.

Ack, now you are asking. I would give you a name, but the wiki seems to be still lacking in that department. She is programmed specifically to be a 'wife' and mother to a single father in the Institute. If you have access, just look in the apartments, and for the woman that looks like she took a few frying pans to the face.

They've put alot into this game but nothing too blatant. equipment given to Mr. Handy, you'd have to do a lot of reading on the terminals, police stations, schools, vaults, military bases etc. many references to people but not really explicit or really detailed just a lot of innuendo. and of course Magnolia (said to also be a Synth) so I'm wondering who did her programming. Deacon (said to be a Synth) can also be romanced. Hancock a Ghoul can also be romanced. <-(pretty much Necro) That's kind of blatant there. But the ESRB Content Descriptors: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language, Use of Drugs. but no mention of "Sexual Theme\Content" which Todd Howard also stated in interviews there were none. So nothing is out there and in your face. I figure that's left up to the "PC" community since they already know it's gonna happen anyway. But that is also in line with MS and Sony guide lines for their consoles. very strict. they don't want us corrupting there console communities

shes not a compaion, if you loom into it she was already a synth when the scientist wife died and apparently she got interested on him and father allowed they to get togheter as a "experiment" (some infiltrators got families, the experiment part was probably an excuse for him being nice). Now shes his new wife and is helping to reaise his son.

 

BTw I know there was a thread on it already, but synths can reproduce, in the institute (mostly terminals) you lears lots about synths and the reasons for theyr creation.  The gen 3 arent machines theyre genetic eengeired artificial lifeforms, the synth components are to allow comonication with the institute and the emergency shutdown. Its stated that they have all human fuctions, wich means they can breed, but its unknown how a hybrid is (my guess is that it has all he synth  superior phisicak attributes while being immune to tge shutdown, this thing woul d be really dangerous).

 

You forgot to mention that in the prydwen chckup its mentioned that its common for wastelanders to fuck mutant beasts, cait asd king piper for a treesome, hancock an many people of both genders in the commonwealth insinuating theyve already fucked, the mayor secretary that fucks him andromanced curie commentaries (seriously she make lots of veiled sexual commentaries).

My guess is that bethesda put them hidden afraid of a possible sex mpd scandal.  each game the modding comounity grows and so does sex mods, one time or anotjher theyll come to light and bethesda is probably trying to say: its all modders fault, we gave them freedom what they do its theyr choice. We wont deny them the freedom modding provides because of a small group." this way they look like the nice guys and theyr immage continues okeven wih sex mods.
