I am wanting to run DDSopt to optimise the textures in my Skyrim game, including modded ones. I browsed the guide on the STEP page, but it confuses me, as the instructions aren't clear. Can someone please provide me with the recommended settings and how exactly to run it to optimize the textures?

mm if you have problem with that guide, maybe the best for you would be to install the texture pack already optimized by the STEP team, here is the link.

Go to optional files, and there you have 2 versions, STANDARD and PERFORMANCE, choose one according to your rig.

And yes is a huge file, remember that you are downloading a lot of textures...

The thing is that I am trying to follow Anatriax's guide here. I need to optimise the textures of those mods given.

It doesn't matter, some of the mod in Anatriax's guide are already covered by the STEP pack texture compilation, why don't you look at this page?

You'll find some of those mods with the textures already optimized. At least you will have less work to do if you have so many problem using DDSopt tool (really I can't find a better tutorial rather than STEP guides, but you already said that "is to complicate for you")

I mean, why does it seem like I am asking people to rip off an arm and a leg? All I need is a condensed version of the guide that doesn't go over every single little detail about the entire program. I just need to know what I need to do to optimize the textures.
