EricSKelly1972 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 does anyone know how to accomplish this look? i haven't found a hood mod (for males) that allows hair to be seen. and the hoods with hairs mod on nexus (female only) doesn't look like this hood. i want this look for my characters. any help in accomplishing this would be appreciated.
EricSKelly1972 Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 over 30 views and nobody knows how to accomplish this look?
meme supreme Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I don't personally know what file that's from. Maybe the hair is part of Apachii or something, but I'm guessing you can accomplish something similar with a little bit of editing; take a normal hood, edit the model & the addon file so that it displays other head parts and bam, aesthetic realized. I think.
EricSKelly1972 Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 just about what i've heard elsewhere but no details. that's what i need is details. yes its apachii hair and if i'm not mistaken the hood is serana's made playable for men. but how to get that look? how to make a hood show hair like that? no clue. the most i've been able to find was something on reddit assuming the reader new how to use nifscope which i don't know the first thing about so that went nowhere fast.
EricSKelly1972 Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 no one else wants to chime in on this? any mod makers want to make a mod that will do this? or at the very least show me how?
Alter Native Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 What you can do is take the hood and change the slot that it uses on the character. Most Hoods replace the hair slot, meaning the hair of your character gets removed and replaced with the hood. If you change the slot to another slot (e.g. the ring slot or one of the unused slots of vanilla skyrim) the hair doesn't get replaced but the 3D model of the hood still gets equipped. The downside to this method is that the hair may clip through the hood. For example if the character has a long ponytail the ponytail will break through on the backside. This particular haircut looks like all hairs fall to the front so the back head is flat and this method might work. This would require nifskope and Creation Kit editing. The "correct" and clean way to do it would be importing the hood and the haircut into a 3D program and edit the meshes. If you have never used a 3D Program like 3ds Max before this requires some knowledge of 3D modeling and is not that easy to do. If the first method is an option for you a tutorial can be found here.
EricSKelly1972 Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 no knowledge of any kind of 3d program and completely green with nifscope. what about making the hood a circlet? it would stay in the same slot and hair should show through correct?
BringtheNoise Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 A copy of that Hood is used in Desert X's Deadric Reaper package. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69138/? I'm not sure how it looks for the males (as that package has both male and female armor pieces). But for the Female side it has 5 or so versions where it has a change in hair color as the variation. But I would Highly Suggest to Learn how to use Nifskope, Bodyslide, and Tes5edit as what you want can be done with those 3 tools. Tes5edit - to create a new outfit (and esp), set the outfit up to which slots it will take up (hood, take the long hair slots, this way you can see circlets under the hood). Bodyslide - To pair the Hood mesh with the hair mesh and export as a single nif. Nifskope - Adjust the slots in the bsdismember data for each mesh to match the esp. Done. The hood is also used By Desert X in a couple of other Skyrim mods (with the Long hair included in the hood's nif file). http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67180/? or in Zquad1's Demonfet Version anyway... http://www.loverslab.com/topic/20648-demonstbbpv3/?p=725821 I'm not sure if either works on male by default.... if they do not then you will need to add data to the esp to point to the nif's for the male (under armor and armor addon sections for the existing parts in the mod there is an area listed for female and for male. If the male is blank for the hoods copy the nif path for the female and test it in game and see if the male head shows up correctly inside... if it doesn't you will need to adjust it in bodyslide to line up with the male head... I would say in Blender, Max, or Maya but those are more complicated for alignment issues). I hope that helps you some.... Don't forget if you frag your computer, blow up your house or set something or someone on fire... the fault belongs with you (I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE).
