Eatos Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 today it's a good day..i spilled a glass of water on my keyboard. i flipped upside down to let the water drop, detached all buttons, dried a little bit with an hair drier (cold air), what else i can do before i hang myself?
varenne Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 If you can find a mesh bag with small holes in it like a mesh laundry bag (Bed, Bath & Beyond may have them), Â big enough to fit the keyboard in, you place that inside, then in another bag with no holes and a bunch of rice; 1/2 lb to 1 lb. The rice will eventually absorb all of the water. Room temp to about 80 degrees F, Should do it. Â I've done this will cell phones that others have dropped and completely immersed in water.
Spell Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 The trick with rice is decent. Alternatively, there's some sort of moisture-absorbent granulate commercially available.I would put the keyboard with rice or that granulate in a plastic(/garbage) bag(sealed properly. Additional helpful would be a warm location) There's possibly another but difficult way. For skilled hands
Eatos Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 in the meanwile i already cleaned, dried everything i can,the only thing i'm insecure about is the inside of the keyboard (there's only one hole under the space bar) and leds.how much should i wait? it happened 6 hours ago
varenne Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Keyboards are fairly durable, as long as you are very very careful when taking them apart. Depending on the relative humidity and temp in the room where you have it, it should near completely dry out on its own. You could simply put it on top of something warm when not in use, to speed up any additional drying it may need, through simple evaporation. Â There's very little circuitry on modern keyboards, and what little there is is often protected with a type of conformable coating. Worse case scenario, reach out to the manufacturer or its forum and see what they say.
pinky6225 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 buy a new one, i got a gigabyte wired gaming keyboard for £13.50  Depending on your point of view it either is designed with simplicity in mind and has no stupid extra buttons or its cheap and lacks the feature buttons
Eatos Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 i have waited 24 hours after i cleaned the keyboard,now i'm using it,it works fine,like nothing happened
Rawmelon987 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 If I'm right it's diffusion that is the process that happens when water gets absorbed by rice.
