PsychoMachina Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I'm heading back to Skyrim and starting from scratch. While checking for updates to the mods I consistently use, I found out about FollowerLivePackage which can be used standalone or in conjuction with EFF. Standalone, how is FLP compared to EFF? I'm aware FLP has something of a learning curve, but I'm only concerned with functionality and what it has to offer versus EFF which is what I have been using.
Prometeus5879 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 If you're starting from scratch nothing keeps you from trying out FLP. Use MO to keep things tidy. I've tried FLP a long time back and wasn't impressed, but mods evolve so it can be better now. Main problem I had was the pathing of my followers with FLP. They took the most impossible ways to follow except the roads .
PsychoMachina Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Thanks for responding. I guess I'll give FLP a chance. Read some of the features and like the idea of giving my followers dynamic AI instead of them just standing there and staring at me. I'm using MO and did make a profile specifically for FLP.
Mshai Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 PsychoMachina, please write your feedback on Follower Live Package cos I am also on the line between EFF and that. I use EFF and I really like it, but when I've red what they offer I was blown away.

egon123 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I have running FLP alongside with UFO for a while and I really like it. "But why UFO?" Well, I liked that auto sandbox feature in AFT. But I got this "naked follower bug" all the time. Tested EFF and for some reason I don't remember it doesn't suited me. So back to Ufo with FLP for dynamic AI and other features. Followers feel now, that they have there own head. I can really recommend FLP.
Killing Joke Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 FLP is great, but the learning curve is steep, it's not user friendly at all. Some options aren't well-explained and it will take time until you figure out how things work and intertwine with each other. But it's one of the best Skyrim mods ever made and the most powerful followers manager.
PsychoMachina Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 Killing Joke pretty much summed it up, FLP has a learning curve mainly because English is not the native language of the author, however, this is a powerful, robust framework. You can use the MCM menu to tweak your followers en masse or use the dialogue options to make each follower unique. There are in-dept options for inventory (individual and shared), combat, looting, behavior when idle/non-combat/combat, magic (including having followers defend you and heal you when your health falls to a predefined threshold). You can have your followers summon their own horses or you can use Convenient Horses, FLP works with Convenient Horse as long as you install the patch provided by the FLP author. You can customize the appearance of each follower (scale, hair color, etc.) and have them tranform to a creature race from a list, but I think this only works when you are either a werewolf or vampire lord. I was testing with the Elin race and was surprised to get all of the FLP dialogue options with the summoned Elins. I don't recall that happening with EFF. So far I like it. If you want a robust follower manager and have the patience to learn the many, many options to customize each of your followers then try FollowerLivePackage. @Prometeus5879 I had the same happen to me soon after acquiring Lydia. This can easily be fixed by disabling one or more of the looting options. I'm guessing in your case, the follower was set to 'loot' ingredients (plants, meat, insects) and this caused them to run around instead of consistently following you.
Rayblue Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I remember that FLP had a fix/patch by someone else that helps making the mod more comprehensible to use.
PsychoMachina Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 I found one bug, if it is one, which involves having your followers transform when in combat. Most of the time they do not aggro when being attacked and those times they do aggro without transforming, they do not use their weapons. I remember that FLP had a fix/patch by someone else that helps making the mod more comprehensible to use. Found a translation patch for FLP, but it needs to be updated.
Slammer64 Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Where's the translation patch PsychoMachina, I could take a look at it? N/M, found it.

Well, I stopped playing Skyrim months ago but last time I used FLP, the multi-race feature was a bit wonky due to the body armor used by your character and your followers. Sorry I can't remember what changes need to be made in the CK but even with that, it didn't work reliably. It is one of its funny features that shouldn't be used much, like squad leader recruitment.

I won't be playing that far into the game anyway. I'm working on another race mod so I'm keeping the mod list at a minimum.
NNS10 Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 FLP has a ton of features, but probably also a lot of features most user don't need. So for those that regularly have FLP in their load order, what is the draw of the mod? Why would a user of EFF or ATF want to switch or add FLP on top of their existing follower framework? EFF has a streamlined interface but otherwise vanilla followers. ATF (and now Immersive ATF) has a more cumbersome interface, but the follower AI is smarter and won't set off traps, etc. It also allows more customization of followers (e.g. setting them to non-essential or changing combat styles). What is FLP's selling point? In particular, I think ATF would the main competitor for FLP, as ATF has quite a lot of settings already. So what else does FLP do that would be considered useful to many players?
