ENB crashes in main menu after update

Heyho,

yesterday I've updated my ENB from 0.279 to 0.292, but since then it can't start anymore :( I didn't change anything in my skyrim .ini files nor in my graphic driver settings, but still ENB isn't able to start correctly anymore.

The weirdest thing now is, as I switched back to 0.279, that has run fine until then, 0.279 also CTDed at start o.O

I already tried to switch back to original ini files via Skyrim Launcher, I reinstalled my graphics driver (NVidia) and changed the settings like recommended in RealVision ENB description on the Nexus, I've changed my ini files like it's recommended by STEP, but still ENB CTDs.

Help please :( I don't know if or where ENB would create log files or if other information is needed, tell me and I'll upload them.

I guess it has something to do with DirectX or d3d9.dll. Had the problem half a year ago, fixed it by dealing with the dll. No guarantee though.

Well you upgraded ENB, did you upgrade the preset as well?

Hmm, no, but why did it still crash when I switched back to 0.279? Where the preset was made for and worked fine before the update?

I don't know but I've had the similar issue. I started using ENB FXAA SweetFX Manager and Remover and never had any issues since as I sometimes jump back and forth from ENB to ENB.

I've tried that remover, didn't help, though it found two thingies to delete :(

I really don't know, what else to do, Graphic driver settings are like recommended by STEP and my preset, All .ini files are altered like STEP and the preset recommended, using preset 0.279 together with ENB 0.279, and now I also let that remover try to totally clean up, still CTD.

And I've become decadent, I'm used to ENB and don't want to play without because it looks lame :D

Lol, found the solution: it really was DirectX. Thx to Anbee and the STEP Wiki!

So, if someone has a similar problem

1) Download DirectX RE from Microsoft (take care of the checkbox that also wants to install the Bing bar before the download starts!)

2) Let the .exe extract its files (I recommend to use a special folder somewhere you find it, eg your downloads folder or the desktop)

3) Search the DXSETUP.exe and execute it (has the latest alteration date)

4) It should reinstall/update/repair your DirectX, no restart required

At least that was the solution for me!
