laniko Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I've loved Motorhead since I became musically aware as a child. Lemmy, the Philthy Animal, and Fast Eddie Clarke (my favorite lineup, though they were all good) were central in my love for aggressive art, and helped mold me into the demented little bitch I became. Overkill may be the best rock song ever. Yes, ever! You could disagree, I suppose, and you'd be wrong.
Brvtality Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I was positively gutted when I heard Lemmy died. I knew he had been fighting with cancer and lost a tremendous amount of weight but I just had this feeling the old man was too tough to die. I guess it all catches us sooner or later. Then they interview Ozzy and I teared up a little.
ratrace Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Just discovered this thread. I was quite shocked when I read about his death a few days ago. I started listening to Motörhead in 1987 or 88 with the Rock'n'Roll album and have been "with the band" ever since. Lemmys death feels like one more piece that formed a constant in my life is gone. When the heroes of your youth die one after another you realize you're getting old. All the best wishes go to his friends, family and bandmates. Wonder what Mikkey and Phil are going to do now.
nIn nIn nIn Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Gutted is one way to describe how I felt seeing the first post on facebook. Lemmy has been a constant presence in my own life since 1984 when I first discovered the Heavy Metal world. My heroes are all old men now, Ozzy, Tony, Geezer, Bill all into their 70's as well. Rob Halford still hanging in there even though his voice is nothing like it once was. AJ Pero went earlier this year too, Twisted Sister was another band that Lemmy introduced to UK & world audiences. The man really is a legend. Thanks to youtube, he will continue to win new generations of fans, just like Hendrix and Joplin do.
BurgerBum Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 Living legend now a legend immortal. party hard and loud in whatever afterlife you're in, Lemmy.
