Mass Effect Characters into Skyrim

That would be bloody brilliant!

If anyone is going for it, a Miranda Lawson follower would be greatly appreciated.

I know right? I tried looking for other exported NPC's (in blender form) but I couldn't find them! I'll keep looking and hopefully I'll find other characters.

I think I'd only want Allers in the game so I can stick a cock in her mouth to shut her up.

However give me some blue alien love any day of the week.

Someone has already attempted to recreate Dragon Age 2 characters as Skyrim followers, but as it is a Nexus mod, s/he couldn't use the original meshes/textures from DA, but since that is not applied to Lovers we can hope that, eventually, a modder might start a Mass Effect mod, but I guess that they will make the armors 1st, imagine N7 armor for CBBE/UNP ;)

I agree! It would be sick.

But for starters, I have the meshes/textures for Allers up right now. It would be a lot easier than creating one for scratch.

I'll start looking for Shepherd related files online.

Can you imagine Shepherd following you around as you hunt dragons?

Omni-daggers ala Kingdoms of Amalur for Skyrim could be interesting, thay could be a good alternative to having to create the omni-blade attack mechanism.

Allers hmmm, Skyrim could use some kind of decent news system, instead of the typical tavern gossiping & the random messenger encounter, so, she have a small office in where she could direct the mail system, or she could be an interesting slave candidate for the Skyrim Slavers Guild

There is a Shepard attempt at Nexus, so, that means you can a Shepard-esque appearance with vanilla resources, though using the original textures or even the morph could be pwnsome :)

That would certainly be interesting, perharps having both fe/male Shepards following you around in your journey and saying ocassional Mass Effect quotes, something like you enter a random shop and s/he says ''I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite store on Whiterun/Skyrim/OTHERS'' :D

I guess no one wants to do it huh?

Oh well, I'm starting to learn how to use Blender and the CK.

If I ever get Mass Effect 3 things into Skyrim, you guys will be the first to have it. ;)

Tends to happen, people these days are more concerned on creating mods based on other things like animes and some games such as Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter, etc... even some hentai games, that translates into a lot of ''hot'' stuff and some cool thingies.

Most modern mods are ports from Oblivion or resources extracted from other games and I think some people are requesting some Mass Effect armor ports from mods wich were done for Oblivion, though so far I've only seen Miranda's suit.

I'll say that we might be seen some Mass Effect mods in the upcoming months, but take in note that the saga is relatively unknown when you compare it to The Elder Scrolls and most conventional games, plus some people might even be disgusted by Mass Effect 3's Ending, so, we'll have to wait a bit more.

I'd try to do them myself, but I'm a total amateur when it comes to modding, and graphic stuff is not my thing, though I'm good at making stories, quest, plot and even NPCs, so, if you decide to learn how to create custom items, you can count with me to write a questline or something like that, or if I learn how to correctly apply face assets, I might be able to recreate Mass Effect's characters ;)

Any updates on this project?

It's a shame that I have no experience modding, otherwise I would love to help out.

How hard would it be to implement custom voice files? For example, if one were to extract and convert specific lines that fit the game cues (Like a hit sound/greeting/etc), would they be usable in-game?

If so, I'm pretty sure I would be able to get those files (I've extracted music and sfx from both ME2 and 3). After all, you can't have a custom follower mod without the right voice :P

I cannot say to much about modding skyrim since I am still not ready to move over, but I can say from my own project in converting Liara T'soni to oblivion that it will not be easy.

using the voice files will be the easiest to do and for that your going to need audacity and it's plugins (they are free) and knowledge of how to use the program (relatively simple to learn.)

extracting the voices is easy, me 2 voice files can be batch extracted and you can go read a book while extraction is being done, me 3 voice need to be done 1 at at god damned time and there is about 50k of them. even if you want only a particular characters voice you need to sift through each of thosde files because they can store multiple comments sometimes one sometimes more for each party member.

creating egm and tri files for the head is going to be about the hardest thing you will ever have to do as a modder and it is not something that a novice cannot accomplish. your going to need to make close to a thousand morphs maybe more for skyrim.

the textures luckily wont be much of a problem, there are several gmod conversions available that use what looks like the cbbe uv maps

Ah, I see.

Regarding ME3 sound files: The program I used exported the files in a batch, just like for ME2. I think I used Gibbed's Audio Extractor.

I wouldn't mind sifting through all the lines. I've done it before actually. Once you understand the way they name files, it's quite easy to find what you need. I am pretty experienced with audio editing, so it would be interesting to go about splicing and combining different lines into a new one. I've already had a few ideas.

But of course we would need to focus on one character at a time. (I would expect Tali would be quite difficult to get working)

Maybe we can have some sort of vote to see what characters players want? (As I've stated before, I'd love to see Miranda as a mage. Since she's a non-alien race, would this make things any easier?).

Anywho, good luck to anyone who would like to try their hand at this. I wish I could help, but besides the audio, I don't think I will be much of use. College has me pretty busy since it has started back up.

I think if someone is willing to take the project on that person will start with who ever it is that they want to convert. As for easier not really to use the heads egm and tri files the topology needs to match up

you can try to edit the morphs files like it's often done for creating the stupid grin fixes and vampire race fixes for oblivion but you would have to remove so much that you would end up with a head that has no morphs thus a locked expression like you see now with the tera masks

another alternative would be to try subdividing miranda's face and altering it slightly. you would not end up with an exact conversion but it would be a start this i dont think would work for characters like tali or liara though the heads are far to different but fior say jack, miranda or allers it could possibly work.

Not really. Only like 50 for expressions, and that's depending on the head part you're doing them for. You need tris for expressions and egm files for face morphs in Oblivion.

You only need tris for Skyrim. Add about 20 or so for face morphing, and the same amount of races there are vanilla races in skyrim for the "races" tri, I personally never do these since I don't want them, you don't HAVE to do them if you only want expressions and syllables.

So, I went ahead and tried to look around the interwebz.

I'd found ME character models exported from the game (Miranda, Kasumi, Jack), but when I asked for some custom tutorials on a different forum, it's apparently illegal??? :dodgy:

Anywho, I actually downloaded the creation kit and messed around for a few hours. I get how to create a companion/place them into the world, but I'm not sure how to get all of the custom textures/meshes into the creation kit (Still need to figure out Blender/Nifskope). The model files I downloaded were .mesh, .mesh.ascii, .tga. I've converted those into an .obj, but I'm having trouble converting that to .nif. It gets so bloody complicated with recent releases not being compatible with Skyrim.

Currently going over various tutorials out there...

So, after tearing my hair out all day trying to get everything to bloody work, I think it's safe to assume that I won't be really getting anywhere.

I don't think most people realize how difficult modding can be, unless they try it themselves. Major props to all of the modders here for their hard work; especially since all of these mods are done out of their free time and with no pay. If I had a hat, it would be off.

Anyway, if anyone wants to run with it, here are the files I was working with. (I've included the raw files as well. I don't trust myself with conversions)

I also came across this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8MYWGX3PpM

Granted it's in New Vegas, so I don't know if it will be of any use. Apparently he created new tri files for expressions with the Conformulator. (You can see for yourself in the comments)

When you upload your MirandaLawson.rar to your nexus mod manager and activate the mod. Do you have Miranda Lawson as a preset. If so' date=' under which race?

The file I originally linked isn't for Skyrim. Its the meshes/texture files extracted from Mass Effect 3.

As for myself, I was able to craete and import the mesh/texture of Allers into a hat. But the skin tone of the "face hat" doesn't match the skin and and the head size doesn't fit the body. It looks extremely grotesque to say the least.

If I had a better understanding of Blender and NifSkope I might be able to fix the head size issue, but it'll have to wait for another couple of months when I'm done with my finals.

EDIT. And I'm an idiot. You obviously weren't talking to me. Disregard my post. :)

Oh, I apologize for taking so long to respond. Really busy lately.

I'm afraid you misunderstood. Those files weren't an actual completed mod, they were the textures/meshes exported from the game (Which I'm not taking credit for)

Hello' date=' I think I found a website that might help with this awesome idea,

http://cire992.spruz.com/pt/Mass-Effect-Resource-Package-Beta/blog.htm

this guy has like all the meshes and stuff from what i can tell and a buncha links to fallout3 mods with Mass Effect things in them ( maybe things can just be converted from those?)

[/quote']

It's a shame that the linked material is only for Fallout. Hopefully the creator might convert it to Skyrim in the future.

I went through the links earlier and found an actual working Miranda companion/race mod, but unfortunately, like the rest of the material, it's only for Fallout.
