Halstrom Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Wondering if anyone can make a vault suit into a high cut one piece bathingsuit... similar to a warm water wetsuit. Womens-Swimwear-Sheer-One-Piece-Thong-Yellow-Swimsuit-F10-1536-F.jpg or this black-smooth-skin-one-piece-sexy-women.jpg_220x220.jpg You could learn how to do it while you are waiting for it to be possible.....
RedVexHK Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Meh , yes I could learn how to.... but I assure you even if I managed it the results would be at best nearly unbearable to look at.... at worse... soo bad I'd be getting requests NOT to post any more work. Besides that's what you good modders are for.

Don't fret, that's where everyone starts.

Besides that's what you good modders are for. What do you think all "good modders" first works were like? You want it just do it, unless you're too old to learn new tricks Without hand-holding level tutorials (not knocking them, they're great) and a set of well documented, established tools, even minor things can be fairly intimidating not to mention technical. Especially if things go wrong and you don't see any results after several tries. Case in point: I had to download 4 new tools. Would have been 3 but one didn't work correctly so I had to find an alternative, and would have been more if I didn't already have GIMP and its DDS plugin. I found a tutorial on how to add transparencies to FO4 meshes, and while the information was essential it lacked pertinent details. Like what DXT version to save the textures as. after a couple fails, DXT5 seemed to work. After about 2 hours of trial and error, I had both succeeded and failed.... I thought I had crossed the finish line and it is now revealed to me I don't know where the finish line actually is. However it appears some kind of model mashup would be the next step and, aside from being beyond my ability (never got -anything- model related I tried in Skyrim to work -at all-) I don't know if the current FO4 tools are capable of this yet. All for, what on the surface looks to be, a simple texture edit. This isn't meant to be an attack on you Halstrom, 'just do it' is just slowly becoming a bit of a pet peeve, so if this sounds a bit pissy it's not directed at you personally. Sorry RedVexHK, I liked the idea and tried to make it but, well, the screenshot speaks for itself. Wasted a lot of time on a proof-of-concept and it didn't pan out.

There you go, in one day you now know more than I do, I mainly script and scripting in it self is a heck of a lot of trial and error too. Other people seem to be creating or importing meshes, so read their stuff a bit or ask them now you know what questions to ask

Hi ! have you tried to "skin" the legs instead of making it transparent ? (I think you will have to edit the meshes to remove the sewings)
leatherliz Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Hi ! have you tried to "skin" the legs instead of making it transparent ? (I think you will have to edit the meshes to remove the sewings) It would look like a flesh-colored vault suit, lol. I've seen and tried such attempts going all the way back to Oblivion. Even very well done the outcome usually isn't worth the effort.
ralfetas Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 You cannot make skin on the legs without mesh/nif editing... when the body shows in the armor, there is another mesh pointing to the body texture, in the vault suit case there is no body there. I think about making a texture mod this way, but without the skin showing, only other texture, a combination maybe black/grey etc... I already export the model in obj to load it in zbrush, but i don't know how to proper edit the normal maps... Character editing is just a hobby... my 3D work is arch most of the time.
RedVexHK Posted December 13, 2015 Author Posted December 13, 2015 Oh well.. I truly appreciate the effort leatherliz, and the support... I have none of the tools nor know what ones I'd need to even have.. I have no skill in skinning or modding so I'd likely be pretty upset after a few hrs of trying to figue it out and learn I have even less of a clue that I did before I started. I know some of you guys have started from scratch... but I think you know HOW long it took you to get where you are now. Maybe when the new toolkit for F4 comes out it might be easier maybe even easy . but for now I'll rely on the experts not my own non existent skill I know sooner or later something along this line will come out... I just wanted to propose it first .
