Problem with FNIS.

Or something else. I don't know. Kind of upset at the moment.

Hey everyone!

So I just tried to upgrade to Framework 1.60, which forced me to upgrade FNIS, SKYUI and SKSE. I followed all the steps, apart from deactivating mods, but since I was going to start a new save rather than continue on an old one, I thought it would be okay anyway (was I stupid? I was probably stupid), and everything seemed to work fine. FNIS said it was versions 5.5 instead of 4.X, it read Sexlab 1.60 instead of 1.59b, and it called Creature Pack 1.60 as well. All is cool. Then I try to run the damn game, whereas it crashed after picking to start a new game. I start up FNIS again, since I installed the newest MNC, SD+ and PetCollar at the same time (probably also stupid), and thought that it could hopefully fix the problem... only now it says I have nothing installed. At all. No animations. No packs. No fucking nothing.

FNIS Behavior V5.5   10/12/2015 10:43:44 PM
Skyrim: 1.9.32.0 - E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ (Steam)

Skeleton(hkx) female: Default (99 bones)   male: Default (99 bones)
Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix"

All Anim Lists scanned. Generating Behavior Files ...

Creature Pack not installed

0 animations for 0 mods successfully included (character)

What the fuck happened? Will I have to reinstall the entire game because of this, or is there a workaround for my very probable stupidity?

Thanks for any help. I am super exhausted from today, and kind of tired of fixing Skyrim every time it decides to break down, and this just kinda pushed it over the edge, not to mention that I have no clue about FNIS apart from how to click that damn update button.

Your using NMM?

I'm not. But I know there is an option that prevents installing .txt files. Somehow you must have set that.

Unset it, and you should be fine.

I do use NMM, but I installed FNIS manually, since that's what I did last time.

Then again. I don't know what you did, but you only installed part of it.

Install again. And this time ALL of it. So simple.

I did.

So I tried reinstalling both FNIS and FNIS Creature through NMM instead, which made it load SOME animations... namely the two packs FNIS itself adds I'd guess? But still nothing else. Seems to have fucked up a looooot of stuff. The game starts now, but shit is really weird. Every option on the main menu has a dollar sign ahead of it, and every now and then I get a message from SD that "Player ref has changed". Furthermore, apachii sky hair all shows up as bald.

I'm guessing there's more to that's fucked up, but this upgrade went completely downhill for me it seems. Fuck.

You should have installed, latest SKYUI 5.1, SKSE 1.7.3. USKP, FNIS 5.5 before upgrading to SL 1.60.2.

I did not. But either way, every single mod I have seem to have unloaded or otherwise fucked up. Immersive Armors doesn't work, my body mods don't work, apachii sky hair doesn't work, Immersive Creatures doesn't work, Schlongs of Skyrim doesn't work et.c et.c et.c. Might as well just reinstall everything by now, since literally everything broke.

Edit: All my Sexlab/LL mods are on the Fully Compatible list, except for Defeat, Zaz and Lover's Victim, which are listed in the Problematic List. I don't have Skyrim Cum on Clothes. I do have HDT High Heels installed though.

I see, well, something in the process of upgrading SL went wrong. If you did as you say, followed all instructions, I guess you have to reinstall your mods again. Although I don't see a reason why upgrading SL will mess up your other mods such as Apachii hair and Immersive armour... . Do you have latest NMM and if you do, did you upgraded NMM?

I would guess SKYUI or SKSE fucked shit up. I can't see any reason as to why SL, MNC, SD+ or PetCollar would screw shit up either. Has to be either SKYUI, SKSE or FNIS.

I didn't use NMM for any of these, except for FNIS after that originally lost track of all animations. Haven't upgraded it in what feels like ages, mostly because I solely use it to activate my mods after installing them. Haven't downloaded any mods from Nexus for a really long time, and have only updated Sexlab mods the last few months, if not the entire year.

Not essentially. SOS is very flexible. Even if being "screwed", once you're in the game, reset it and it will adopt to the changes and load it correctly on reloading the game. My friend, I would suggest you to two things:

1. Reinstall your SKSE and then SKYUI. if this doesn't help

2. Reinstall your mods

Otherwise, you'll get frustrated and a headache ;)

Yeah, I just tried rerolling to the SKSE version I used previously, and that didn't do anything except for changing the error message I got, but the problem itself remained the same: all I could see of my character was a bald head and floating gloves, boots and backpacks. Guess maybe something replaced meshes, since that's another thing SOS was pissed about? *sigh*

The idea of reinstalling the entire game is absolutely appalling. I don't remember what body mods I used or anything. God dammit.

Thanks for the help though. Appreciate it.

Edit: Body apparently actually worked. Hair does not, and neither does clothes/armor. And my character stands permanently agape. I'm giving up for tonight. Try to muster the courage to delete the whole damn thing.

I didn't tell you to reinstall your game, but mods. :)

In the case you have to reinstall the game, before you do it, you can check your load order and write down your mods, or/and do a back up of your present ones.

That's the thing though, I have no idea about the extent of how many mods broke. Maybe it's solely Apachii and SOS, and maybe it's hundreds more. I have 250 mods or something like that. I wouldn't know where to even start :<

FNIS, SkyUI, SKSE, SexLab , etc, etc, etc, didn't fuck shit up. You fucked shit up. That's an important distinction. How did you fuck shit up? By not following installation instructions. By not using a mod manager to install/uninstall mods.

Example: Step 1 of installing SkyUI is to install SKSE. So why did you install SkyUI before installing SKSE?

Example: SexLab requires the latest verison of SKSE. So why did you roll back to the previous version of SKSE?

Example: Sometimes you install FNIS (and other mods certainly) with a mod manager, sometimes you do it manually. God only knows what kind of crap you have left behind in your Data directory from manually installed/uninstalled mods.

You have bald heads, invisible bodies and/or armor, dollar signs in your MCM, and on and on and on because you seemingly take no care whatsoever to read and follow installation instructions. And uninstall instructions - which are every bit as important as installation instructions. And now your game is a wreck because of that sloppiness.

Yeah. Reinstall Skyrim. This time around - make sure you follow installation directions for every single mod you want to use.

(And apologies if all that came across as rather harsh. But seriously ... follow directions! )

Yes, I did them in the wrong order. I think. My bad.

I rerolled to see if it would fix my SOS/Bald head problem. Not to fix Sexlab, which I still don't know if it even works. i.e, I did it "right" the first time.

I've used NMM for every single mod I own except for sexlab mods. I've always checked requirements and such before installing mods. The only problems I've had before this have largely been load order problems.

I fixed the dollar sign problem. Bald heads appeared right now, even though I followed the instructions laid out by all mods that I've touched today. Yet something went wrong. No need to be a dick about it. Like I said in the OP, I probably did something stupid. I'm trying to figure out what that something is, and you're not really helping.

I never said FNIS, SKSE or SKYUI fucked shit up. At least I never meant to put the blame on them. I've been saying that something most likely went wrong when trying to update one of those.

Edit: To clarify: I know I've done something wrong, and I've never claimed anything else. You come off as rather rude, and that's not very helpful. An unstable version of Skyrim is largely inevitable with 250+ mods, and like you said, one mistake back at the first ten mods might come back to bite me now, but berating me over that doesn't really help. But yes, I will read the instructions when/if I reinstall.
