SKSE co-save problems

I have a new game that I've been playing with for about 5 hours and all sorts of weird things have been happening, namely with mods that rely on SKSE. Apropos W&T tracking resets randomly, HDT high heels glitch out on game load, Creature Framework doesn't work for over half the actors, etc.

 

After some time, I tracked the problem down to the .skse co-save file in the Saves folder. This file has gone from 50 to 510 KB in as little as 5 hours (which is alarming, my previous playthrough had hundreds of hours and the file size was 263 KB), and if I delete the file, loading that save will seemingly cause all the glitched mods to start working correctly again. Problem is, many mods also lose information they were storing in the skse file, and I'm guessing it'll likely cause more bugs than it solves.

 

So, is there a way I can clean the SKSE co-save file, or at least examine its structure to try and figure out if there's a clear culprit I need to remove from my mod list?

i thought maybe i shouldn't comment on this. but i change my mind. we share the same situation. my hdt high heels fail to load and my char legs leave the ground a lot later, apropos resetting and creature framework taking a long time on its registering. my skse files with a much shorter time than usual has reached a size of 5000 kb and my save 50000 kb. where once on a big save i never went above the 10.000 mark.

Are you using the SKSE 1.7.3 beta, by any chance? So far that seems the most likely source of the problem for me.

I am using 1.7.3 beta, and I saw also myself a slight increase of the size of the co-save.

But no problems with the other mods.

 

More Nasty Critters is as before, and so is HTD highHeels.

 

I do not use apropos.

 

But please keep in mind that I play only to debug the mods I do.

Well I only have the issues after playing it for a while. If I test with a new game, everything's working fine. It seems it's only after the co-save has bloated significantly that problems surface.

having the same problem too sorted masters no dirty edits and everything should be fine

except that it isn't i start a new game play for 1 hour and when i try to load the save it's useless

I've recently started a new game after rolling back to SKSE 1.7.2. I haven't played long enough to know for sure, but so far there haven't been any issues. However, the co-save still seems to be bloating at a considerable rate, so maybe SKSE 1.7.3 Beta wasn't to blame for it.

 

I did notice all of us with the problem so far have Creature Framework. That mod does complex enough operations with the co-save that it requires regular clean-ups, maybe something is going wrong there.

the problem with me is different the game isn't playable anymore for some reason i don't know

i start new game and after a while when i try to load the save it won't work like ever

maybe we wait someone who had the same problem and fixed it by any means

Perhaps that creature framework is partially a problem but my game became much more stable with skse 1.7.2

I had the exact same experience after reverting to SKSE 1.7.2 and starting a new game. Co-save is still bloating steadily, but I don't seem to have any erratic mod behaviour anymore.

 

I wouldn't know for sure, but it does look to me like it was being caused by SKSE. In the past I've found the betas to be highly reliable, but I'm guessing 1.7.3 might have an issue that still needs to be resolved.

guys i have the same problem. it is the one i been mentioning on this site for a long long time. something has changed since i switched to 1.7.3 . i get save bloat and script lag and for literally no reason what so ever.

 

no big scripts running at the same time, no extreme visual mods to interfere with my pc's focus on papyrus and nothing special going on beside say an peaceful walk in an external cell.

so if you don't mind i will also follow this thread for updates and a possible solution if it ever gets discovered.

I think it is because of Creature Framework, cuz when I did use it, then my skse save file would become very large (about 500kb+), without CF my skse co-save is about 100-150kb at max..

P.S.  Also update your XPMSE to v3.02 if you guys are using it, because latest version just fixed my skse co-save bloat problem and it is mentioned in the changelog by Groovtama..

I had no problems with 1.7.3b until I tried the Enchanted Arsenal mod. My SKSE co-save bloated to 3.06MB. I got 2 minute load screens everywhere, with an occasional normal length one. I temporarily alleviated the problem by adding the following to my Skyrim.ini:

Issues returned after ~1hr of playtime. It wasn't until I checked my save folder and saw the co-save size that I realized that save was utterly fucked like a tourist in Coldharbour.

 

Good thing I saved my character's preset.

i tried 3.05 and my skse still increased in size. but atleast it does not destroy the game anymore. even though the skse is 2mb ot 3mb i can still run it now previous version would simply stop the game from even loading even with the workaround.
