JennyJ Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Okay so I have a problem that i've been trying to deal with and I'm stumped. Late last year I found that some of the animals and enemies in my skyrim game just don't move anymore. I can hit them and I hear them but they are just stationairy and it's sapping my fun. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it? I'm really getting desperate here. Here is a list of animals/enemies that don't move that I've found so far. Elk/Deer Goats Mud Crabs Mammoths Hag Ravens Rabbits Ice Wraith Wisp Mother Skeevers Dwarven Centurion Dwarven Sphear Dwarven Spider Frost Atronach Storm Atronach Horkers and those critters that look like floating tumors with tentacles (Can never remember their names).
drlove33 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I've only had that happen one time and it was a saber cat, after I killed it I quit the game and reloaded and it hasn't happened since. Are you running any mods that change enemy a.i behavier or anything that changes the said animals?Sometimes a mod that has been updated can cause these kind of things, and sometimes something that has nothing to do with the problem like a new texture pack can have a script that cause's things to go weird. For example I use convenant horses, but if you use the mod pocket empire builder with it,you can get your followers to ride horses anymore.Even though the two mods don't have anything to do with the other one still causes the other to mess up.What you need to figure out is what mod you put in that changed things to go wackey.Go back to what you had before you had problems and see if it was something that you put in or if any of your files became corrupted.Worse case is you would have to do a complete reinstall of skyrim and that sucks but at least then the problem should be fixed.Anyway I hope I was able to give some help and I hope you get it worked out, good luck.
JennyJ Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 The only thing I can think of is that I installed the More Nasty Critters mod back then. I've reinstalled Skyrim 3 times and that didn't do anything and neither did uninstalling the mod so I'm not sure what's going on if thats the problem.

I've reinstalled Skyrim 3 times and that didn't do anything and neither did uninstalling the mod so I'm not sure what's going on if thats the problem. Ok I think I know what happened as a very similar thing happened with me.I had downloaded the mod destroy the thieves guild, and in that mod Mjol's A.I package was changed to not become a follower until you did destroy the thieves guild then and only then would she agree to follow you.Well after I got tired of the mod and took it out and started a new game,Mjol kept the same A.I package so I could not get her quest to find her sword and make her a follower or spouse.I tried everything even a reinstall of skyrim twice and still it is there.I completely erased and removed everything to do with skyrim from my computer, then did a reinstall and the problem was still there the scripts in the mod somehow got attached to my skyrim game itself, don't know how but it happened. The solution I came up with is I got the creation kit and changed everything about her and now I can't get her quest for the sword but she can become a follower and everything else works right,so maybe open the creation kit and go about changing the problem creature's or change there behavior also maybe talk to the creators of the mod that caused the problem and tell them what you have told me and see if they have a solution or patch to fix the problem. If not then get the creation kit open and make the patch yourself, then you could help other people who have this happen to them and would be there hero!Other then that I don't know what else could have caused it or how to fix it,but when I open the creation kit back up I will see if I can find anyway to change the problem creatures,if so I will see what I can do to help you,but I can't make any promises other then I will try to help,I know what a pain it can be to not be able to get an answer from people about a problem caused by a mod that they created, that's why I started making my own.Anyway I hope this helps and as soon as I can find anything I will let you know.
kayn15 Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Try cleaning the savegame off orphaned scripts. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363/?. I had a similar problem only instead of not moving, the enemies were permanently friendly

I had a similar problem only instead of not moving, the enemies were permanently friendly I don't think that Cleaning the saves is the problem, I've deleted all my saves before trying to see if that was a problem and also deleted the saves and reinstalled skyrim before and it's still going on.

You mean to say that you experience this bug with a fresh install of Skyrim, no mods and saves started from the very beginning? This is intriguing. Are you using a Steam, DVD, GOG or other type of copy of the game? Later edit: I just remembered that I that problem when FNIS was new and I didn't quite understand what I was supposed to do. Download it if you didn't already and don't forget the creatures pack. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11811/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D11811&pUp=1 After installing go to Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users and press update FNIS behaviour . wait for it to finish. If you already did that then I'm quite out of ideas. By the way, by "stationary" do you mean the NPC's stay still and with outstretched limbs/ odd positions or are they frozen in an anatomically correct position. The first means a problem with the animations themselves and the latter a problem with the AI package.

I'm using steam since my Skyrim installation disk just installs steam for me and then auto downloads Skyrim. It's the latter problem, they look fine and are in the appropriate positions but they just don't move at all. Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you till now, just got me a new laptop and am still setting it up.
kayn15 Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Try the console command " tai " on one frozen NPC. Maybe it works.
JennyJ Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 Actually have an update with good news (I think). As I mentioned I got myself a new laptop, well once I got skyrim installed as well as some base mods I began testing out the game to see how much better it all looked and as I ran up to an elk it actually ran away from me. oh and the "tai" command idea, I'll save that back incase it happens again. But now i'm curious what the actual problem was on my last laptop.

concretemonk Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 @ JennyJ, I was having a similar problem with the deer in my game. they would not move at all. the wolves and such were ok as far as i had seen....Oh and the Khajiit tails were sticking out straight like they were excited to see me, which kind of freaked me out. I also had, had More nasty creatures installed, and had removed it, mainly because my Girlfriend had gotten tired of playing untamed. i ended up just reinstalling the More nasty creatures mod, and it fixed my problems. Still not sure of the cause of it. you would think that once you had run FNIS the problem would of fixed itself, but that just another mystery of modding i guess....Hope this helps you out. Oh BTW if you don't want to see animal naughty bits, i believe the MCM menu let's you choose which ones if any show

EDIT: I figured it out! Try de-installing FNIS Creatures, AND THEN disable it in NMM. If you do it the other way around, it doesn't work, but my cows are moving again!

SkollDrachen Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 this i slikely a very dead topic but all these fixes did not fix this issue for me.....

C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Skyrim\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe WARNING: Windows (Vista/7/8/10) Security may interfere with updating/overwriting the FNIS behavior files. you may not even get a error message telling you that this has happened. make sure FNIS and your mod manager (if your using one) are running with administrator privileges. NOTE: try deleting "Data\meshes\actors\character\behaviors\0_master.hkx" and re-running FNIS again, that sometimes helps. 3. when you start the game with the Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) loader the list of installed mods wont get refreshed, so if you install a mod and just start the game with the loader any new mods you installed wont be fully activated. to fix this problem go to the skyrim launcher and click on "DATA FILES" and it will refresh the list of installed mods, you can now close the launcher and start the game with the skse loader. 4. in game you need to go inside SexLab's Mod Control Menu (MCM) and click on "install" first before you can use SexLab. 5. make sure you have "Allow Creature Animation" checked in SexLab's MCM settings. 6. turn off "Match Creature Gender" in sexlab's MCM settings, if this setting is enabled some animations won't play. 7. did you forget to install the FNIS Creature Pack? install it and rerun the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe, then do steps 5 & 8 NOTE: if you do have the Creature Pack but some creatures are just playing idle animations during sex try clicking on "De-Install Creatures" in FNIS, after it's done running click on "Update FNIS Behavior" (doing this will delete all the creature behavior files generated by FNIS and remake new ones...that is assuming you DO have the FNIS Creature Pack installed) 8. you may need to reload the animations, go to the Animation Loader's MCM and then: 8.1. click on the "Disable All" button. 8.2. click on "Rebuild Animation Registry", then Wait for the message to pop up*. 8.3. click on "Reload JSON". 8.4. click on "Enable All". 8.5. click on "Count Animations" and make sure nothing is over 500, turn off some animations if they are. 8.6. click on "Register Animations", then Wait for the message to pop up*. *if you like you can press "~" on your keyboard to open the console so you can watch it Register everything, just make sure you close it before you try to click on anything.
