Raistlin1 Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Update: I've finished and uploaded this addon. Discuss the mod here. I had an idea for an SOS addon that adds pubic hair (for females) rather than a schlong. This would allow for something like different pubic hair for different races. My current setup uses a modified Perma Undies that adds underwear to females as well, but also has different undies for different races (same with different textures for different male races), but all of the females that aren't wearing underwear are either shaved or have the exact same pubic hair as every other female (i.e., as part of the textures). It would be great to have a slot 52 pubic hair mesh that becomes hidden when the player is wearing something (if the pubic region is still exposed, then just set the armor to "revealing"). I do recognize that this is actually fairly simple--I've just never done it before. Additionally, however, I'd like to have the pubic hair match hair color. This may also be simple, but from what I understand it requires scripting, which is something I'm not overly familiar with when it comes to Skyrim. If anyone has any advice on where to begin doing something like this it would be much appreciated.
bahamut2119 Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 The basis is already available for something like this 2 mods add pubic hairs to racemenu. Citrus is the more advanced but lacks a way atm to add to npcs where the other one painted lady has a npc overhaul done for it that adds pubic hairs to female npcs. Citruses advantage is it auto hides when a slots taken im hoping someday someone will update painted lady to do this to.
Deemer Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 It's not really related, but I'll leave it here anyways: I tried converting the Cubic hairs 3d for the UUNP bodyslide. The cbbe version had issues where it wouldn't show up at all on unp based bodies, so I figures perhaps a conversion would fix it. After a while I figured I'd test two versions. One where only the pubes were being created. They are items ingame, but doesn't show up when equipped. Second version the entire body is created with the pubes - doesn't show up on the body. Everything looks fine in BS2, and the body is created correctly, but ingame it doesn't work. Output was made to be femalebody_0/_1 in that case. If anyone reading this know why or might know how to fix it, please do tell Related to the subject at hand though, it would be nice with something like this. If it somehow was linked to hair color would be even better. You wouldn't even really need the full SoS framework considering pubes don't get hard/soft We'd simply need the part that distributes the various models to npc's on a % chance basis.
Raistlin1 Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 I got it working easily enough (minus the matching hair color). The main problem (which I should have seen coming) is that not all crotch-covering equipment hides slot 52. This means that equipping only a pair of underwear still has the pubic hair showing. (At first I thought it might be some issue with the mesh, but I tested it with Perma Undies and Schlongs for Females and the same thing happened, so it's definitely an armor slot issue.) So at this point, I'm not sure if anything can be done about it. This makes me wonder if this is why no one has done this before. It's fine if you're wearing normal gear since that will normally cover the whole character up anyway, but if you're going to be running around in lingerie or something it doesn't work very well. Hmm...perhaps a script could be written to remove the pubic hair "schlong" when armors covering certain slots are covered and then add it back when the slot is open again? But not all armors are necessarily going to use slots in exactly the same ways...ugh... If anyone has any suggestions it would be nice. Otherwise I may just abandon this idea.
Akzyra Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 That is what CITRUS does: 4. Hair colour matching Pubic Hair options (They auto-hide when armour is worn) But it won't work on NPCs. If I remember correctly it works with the Facial Hair Slider, just renamed. Same as Painted Lady. Meaning you could display it on NPCs, but clipping some clothes.
Raistlin1 Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 So, it works. What I wanted to do works. Almost perfectly, actually. It turns out the meshes are already set up to match character hair color (I saw the setting in Nifskope a while ago when I was first looking into this idea). The problem, however, is that it doesn't work with your player character very well, unless you just leave your crotch area exposed all the time. I found I have to go into racemenu and/or reload a game in order to get the color to change, but if I remove the pubic hair (via equipping something) then it reverts to the basic gray the next time it shows up (i.e., when I unequip something). As far as having random NPCs have a chance of showing up with pubic hair, though, it's great. I tested it out using Dibella's Compulsion and the pubic hair matched the NPC's hair every time. I did use Outfit Studio to set up CBBE sliders for the meshes, but I haven't gone to the trouble of making sure everything is perfectly flush with the body (e.g., the "untamed" variant is sticking out a tiny bit from the stomach). Still though, I'm surprised it has worked out so well and so easily. All together so far I've probably spent no more than a couple of hours actually working on this. I suppose I could share it if people are interested in it. Not sure about permissions, though; I took the meshes directly from Painted Lady.
Raistlin1 Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 I figured I should give a couple details. First off, I managed to get the bodyslide looking pretty good. It uses HDT mainly because I use HDT, but that should make sense since at least a couple meshes are attached to the belly and should move with it if you have that option installed. As for the meshes themselves, I used The Painted Lady's four meshes: Bush, Landing Strip, Untamed, and Wild. I actually divided them up evenly among the races: Bush: Breton, Redguard Landing Strip: High Elf, Imperial Untamed: Orc, Wood Elf Wild: Dark Elf, Nord None: Argonian, Khajiit I could probably utilize Cubic Hair 3D's meshes as well and have even more variety, but for now it's just the four. I have considered making addons for each of the styles so that all NPCs could have their hair randomized regardless of race, but that's a bit more work (pretty easy, but a bit of work nonetheless) and it uses up even more precious plugin slots (I'm in the 240's and I'm running out of expendable mods). It seems like it would be asking a lot of people who want pubic hair addons to download four mods for basically just one net effect. With regards to releasing the mod, does anyone know if permissions are absolutely necessary or do I simply need to give credit and thanks?

From Painted Lady OP : PERMISSIONS A link to this post is a welcome addition, but not mandatory. You are permitted to upload this mod to another site provided credit is given to the authors here. You are permitted to use assets from this mod provided credit is given to the authors here. You are not permitted to claim it as your own work. You are not permitted to re-upload to another site as an exclusive. So it looks like you should be able to upload. Although just as a general courtesy I would PM the original author. And if an ADEC (2.4 or 3.0) version could be done...

Anyone is free to convert it, though. I'll mention this on the DL page.
Deemer Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 This sounds extremely good! Might want to give some thought to the slots used, as some people might want to use your mod together with schlong addons if it doesn't look too bad As for .esp count, I've always merged all schlong addons together, and never had a problem with it. I assume the same could be done here? As all the scripts are in SoS and not the actual addon, I don't see why merging them is bad atleast. Correct me if I'm wrong

Correct me if I'm wrong I was unsure about how merging SoS addons would work, but if you've done it successfully then I'd certainly try it (I have 7 or so addons). As for the slots, I'll probably leave that to someone else. I don't know how SoS handles other slots so I'm not sure about messing with it, and my mod already does what I needed it to do. I'm glad there's interest here. I may consider releasing my edited perma undies mod (it includes females and also has different underwear for the different races), though there is a fair bit of clipping for the female underwear (I can tolerate it, but it's certainly not good enough to release publicly). If I (or someone else) can get the clipping issues dealt with I'll probably upload it.
Deemer Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I'm sure lot's of people would like this. It's a heck of a lot less tedious than going through every single npc in CK and adding it manually with Painted Lady for sure Only issue you'd get by merging addons are if you do it on an existing save, as SoS will be confused. I think you can do some tricks by saving/loading and restaring SoS to get rid of the old entries that it no longer recognizes as they're no longer present with the old ID's, but I'm not sure of the correct procedure as I've usually just started up a new save anyway after making big changes.
Raistlin1 Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 I've uploaded the addon. It's now available!

Raistlin1 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 So, I was SURE I saw the hairs matching on a couple of NPCs, but just now I was playing and they didn't match, and nothing I did would cause them to match. Perhaps it's my setup, or maybe something to do with the RaceMenu mod (there were some issues with the latest couple of versions)? In any case, I have no idea what to do about the matching color, but at least the meshes and randomization are working well. I am wondering something, though. If I were to attach every race to every pubic style, would SoS randomly choose the pubic style to assign or would it simply assign whichever has the lowest (i.e., first) ID value?
Deemer Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 You didn't by chance deactivate Painted Lady Redone when you lost the textures? It might need the original plugin/files in order to work. Still setting up my own game, so I'm unable to check at the moment :/
Raistlin1 Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 You didn't by chance deactivate Painted Lady Redone when you lost the textures? It might need the original plugin/files in order to work. Still setting up my own game, so I'm unable to check at the moment :/ I never had Painted Lady installed, I just grabbed the meshes and textures from it. The Painted Lady plugin basically just adds the "additional hairs" slider to racemenu so you can set the pubic hair along with the hair, and since it's using racemenu it assigns the hair color properly at the time of setting it. As far as I can tell there is nothing special about the Painted Lady plugin itself that allows the pubic hair to share hair color. The .nif file has "BSLightingShaderProperty" set to "Hair Tint", which is why it's able to share the hair color at all. My theory is that Skyrim isn't constantly checking to make sure everything set to use hair color is using that color, but rather it just checks at certain times (e.g., upon rendering the character, upon changing hair color). This would explain why adding the pubic hair later (e.g., when removing clothing) simply renders it dark grey. What would be nice is if Skyrim checked upon rendering an object whether it needs to be adjusted according to its shader properties, rather than only when those properties are adjusted (I could be missing something here, though, as I am by no means an expert with shaders). Now, I don't know why I saw the matching color before (I'm sure I saw a NPC with blond pubic hair and some with brown), but at the time I was using a version of RaceMenu that wasn't exactly working properly (i.e., it wasn't saving certain settings), and I had noticed a couple of "rendering-related" things that were working better with that version of RaceMenu, so maybe that had something to do with it? Perhaps I ought to reinstall that version and run some tests.
