Insidiator Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Hello to anyone who might respond! Before anyone posts anything in russian, I don't speak russian. The thing is, I've recently been involved in a translation project for a game from russian to english. The game has a bad to mediocre machine translation and we are touching up the text so it becomes actuall english. BUT! There are many slang and dirty words that are really baffling and google translate does nothing in these cases. So if there are any russian speakers who wouldn't mind explaining a couple (or more) things, leave a message. Thanks.
Dasha Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Hi! My English is far from being perfect, but I can try to help You and it can be a good practice
Insidiator Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Hey great! I'm helping with the translation of Girl Life, the community version, over on TFGamessite.com. It was originally an erotic lifesim game written in russian. It is a huge game with a lot of content. Unfortunately, the machine translation has made some things completely unreadable. For example, for some reason, "doggy style sex" was translated as 'fucks cancer"! And many words have been changed from cyrillic to latin alphabet without a translation. So it will read for example "Where are you shlyaeshsya?". If you want, check out the game http://tfgamessite.com/index.php?module=viewgame&id=597 , you might like it. Of course, you could also just check out the original, I guess. I'll gather a list of untranslated words and expressions and I'll get back at you.
Insidiator Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 OK, for starters, any idea what these could mean? ohayuschuyu shlyaeshsya dochura blyadischa putnam mandu hahalskih Keep in mind, these come from a machine translation so they might just be gibberish. But if they remind you of anything, shoot ahead.
Dasha Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Ok, I see the problem But it's difficult to translate transliterated words without proper context. ohayuschuyu - ?? shlyaeshsya - ("Where are you shlyaeshsya?" mean "Where have you been?" or "Where are you now?" in rude form.) dochura - daughter blyadischa - slut, whore putnam - ?? mandu - cunt hahalskih - "hahal" - boyfriend, lover or admirer, so "hahalskih" can mean something what belong to him.
sars Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 WARNING: engl like a 3 y baby... heh, try to complain.. ohayuschuyu*? - no idea shlyaeshsya (may contain 2 ideas) - somethink like, hey Gomer! - where you are too late!!!??!(voice of jealous wife) where you are walking st*** Sam !? (meaning what, person who say it, dont know the place, where sam walking) dochura - daughter (may contain some naughty prefix ) blyadischa (b**ch, or girl with lewdness nature, else bad word like s**m) putnam*? - no idea mandu - p*ssy some similiar word, in ru language some not similiar words have duplicate meaning hahalskih - for example its like - hey sanny ! who gives you this flowers? you lover? ( in this case lover like casanova,) hahalskih - its mean what who give you item, and after this you ask about this item -> its a complex word , this need to see in text, btw i can describe like that - tor's hamer , now imagine what tor have wife, and one lady asks tor's wife's about hammer, how she earned this hammer(from who? main question, and she says from (who) tor ....)..this word not so easy to complain, it s all that i can say about it
Insidiator Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 This is great! Ha! I knew LoversLab would deliver again! I will try to provide context whenever I can. It is a huge project, Girl Life has thousands of lines of dialogue but step by step, it can be done. And I understand about the difficulties of explaining russian concepts to another language, I am greek and many greek words and expressions are almost impossible to accurately translate into english.
Insidiator Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 How would you make an actual english phrase out of this? Mother grabbed you by the ear "Oh blyadischa We slaved father, what would you Putnam of people do you find worthy men, and you''re a whore who has already Mandu then tuck. Get out of my sight! Also, is "to fly" slang for getting pregnant? Cause I've seen a couple of phrases that are translated like "You flew on your first time?" and they are refering to pregnancy.
Dasha Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 "Mother grabbed you by the ear and said "You're whore! Me and your father worked hard to raise you to become a worthwhile person and find a worthy husband for you, but you have already used your pussy [you are not virgin anymore] Get out of my sight!" "to fly" or "to fly into" can mean any unpleasant situation. It often used to describe unplanned pregnancy.
Insidiator Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 бухать is translated as "go thump". What? zalet "yes, it was nice, of course, especially when the doors" it refers to sex, but what do the doors imply? oromo Anka at least partially in the Bear went, but you''re just all in me, so that adventure to find his ass and Gandon for balls
Dasha Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 бухать - to drink (alcohol) zalet - is untranslated form of "to fly" - unplanned pregnancy or any other unpleasant situation "yes, it was nice, of course, especially when the doors" - i have no idea. "doors" does not imply a double meaning. I think it's just unfinished thought. oromo - ?? Anka at least partially in the Bear went, but you''re just all in me, so that adventure to find his ass and - This phrase makes no sense Gandon for balls - This is a strange phrase. "Gandon" = condom. This words can also be used for insulting unpleasant person. EDIT. I found a Russian version of the game. especially when the doors - especially when two guys... oromo - sinonime for scandal, noise, fracas Anka at least partially in the Bear went... - Your sister Anna has inherited character of Michael(the father), but you inherited my temper. That's why you are always cruising for a bruising. Gandon for balls - use condoms instead of toy balloons
Insidiator Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 Wow. Machine translations are really, REALLY bad, aren't they? But honestly, you don't need to go to such lengths to help. I do appreciate it, but I don't want to burden you too much. Unless you want to. Then you can do what you want. Actually, you can always do what you want. Anyway, I really appreciate your efforts.
