[WIP] BEAST RACE

Great look, Can't wait to see the first release. I have always been unimpressed with Bethesda just slapping an animal head on a human body and calling it a beast race, especially with the human sounding voices they've given to them in Skyrim. This seems like a good compromise.

 

I will definitely be using this as a Khajiit replacer if you make a male version as well...

 

One question though, will you be making a new head mesh that removes or replaces the human ears?

Any plan for males that are just as awesome quality as the females u have thus far? ( I hate it when ppl make races where the females look terrific the males looks like the bad end of a camels hump) heheh

Lookin good. And reading back thru this thread, i agree with "lol internet" - you should call it "Ohmes-Raht". My mistake in thinking Tabaxi - that was the Oblivion custom race that ended up being used as Ohmes-Raht in the Elsweyr Antiqua mod.

 

I downloaded your Alpha file. It's all textures. Do you need to get permissions to use the ears and head meshes?

So i got impatient to play this and went ahead and made an Ohmes-Raht race with your alpha files, for personal use.

Here's how it's going on my machine:

I have the vampire race and race controller files all set. The ears are a HeadPart. I've fiddled with 3 of the 10 presets so far. Copied over the Khajiit racial abilities. Fun stuff.

 

Although it looks like you've got it well in hand, let me know if you want any help. I'm reasonably good with the Race and race-related sections of the CK.

 

Thanks for the alpha! Looking forward to the final release!

Normally I use CBBE but Im kinda diggin the UNP style on this race. Any way to keep the UNP on your race while not changing the CBBE for the other races?

If he does it the same way i did, yeah. Custom races should use their own meshes and textures folders so they don't mess with anyone's setup.

For instance, /meshes/actors/characters/OhmesRaht/femalebody_1.nif.

I'm going to help with the CK part of it. I believe the plan is to do CBBE and UNP breeds.

So I plugged in the file but got blue skin. Also the face was just regular skin tone, no fur. As far as I can tell the body mesh was in fact unp but for some reason it wouldn't find the textures. I checked out the mesh files and they show the texture path as Astrid. I tried changing them to specifically use the textures you provided (textures\actors\characters\OhmesRaht\femalebody_1.dds) but no dice. Not sure what is going on. On a positive note the ears showed up just fine lol

 

BTW, did you mean to create the texture folder "characters" with an s at the end? I'm gonna go back and stick those in the character folder and see if that fixes it.

 

edit: yup thats what it was, so in keeping with using multiple body meshes, is there going to be a way to load armors specific to that body without interfering with armors that use the other body? I use CBBE for all of my human races but I would love to keep UNP for this one. I know when I put on all the armors I have like MAK07's remodeled versions that it won't mesh with the UNP body.

 

Also, I seem to be having trouble with some of the sliders. For instance, there are no other options for hair other then the default, same for the eyes. Not sure why its not working for me, but if I choose that race and then go to another race it effects the options for the new race also, does that make sense?

Currently there's no simple way to do this. I will most likely add this race to my Unique Everything mod, though, in which case i'll add it if i ever do the Unique Gear companion piece (it's an esp specifically designed to go with the Starter Pack that i have for UE, that would swap out the correct replacers).

There's also a very interesting mod that popped up the other day - Phenotypes. It switches between 3 different CBBE types. Looks promising.

MAK07's will do that. There are other CBBE armors that don't look bad on UNP tho.

Fixed the hair. Should have a lot more options in the next rev. For me, it's including Apachii/MTOH/etc.

I may have fixed the eyes. Haven't checked yet.

 

You've caught some great bugs. In the interest of getting more feedback, I'd like to get some more beta testers (preferably from LL) on this. It'd be great to get the kinks worked out before it goes live.

Ok here is the edited mesh, I tried to use the same texture paths that were in the original meshes. It looked fine in Nifskope. Hopefully all that needs to be done now is title it right and edit the textures to make up for any strange lines if need be. Let me know what you think. Also with regards to the eyes floating, I noticed that some of the eye selections were appropriate while others included the Khajiit eyes also. That should be fixable in the esp using CK.

I've tried out the file you've uploaded angelmeats but I have a strange bug which causes the eyeballs to float outside the body.

 

Haha. That's the result of experimenting. Will fix!

Meanwhile, just don't select Khajiit eyes. There's human eye options in there.

Wow looking awesome, so the head mesh worked out then? Can't wait to play with it. I hope to have a pic to post here of something I have been working on. It's not directly related but I have been using my kitten to test it.

Ok after slaving away most of my memorial day weekend I finally got somewhere only to realize that I hate my ENB settings when it comes to taking pictures (Sigh) but anyway. Here is what I did while testing out the khajiit mod. I apologize that its not UNP as I know I've been encouraging that. I got into Bodyslide the otherday and just made my own preset. I will probably make a UNP version though.
