Guest Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Hello, all! I had an idea, recently, and wanted to share it with you fine folks in case there might be a common interest. Now, I have no qualms about nudity and adult content in my Skyrim experience (else, I wouldn't be here). However, I also have a mild interest in eventually producing content for online video-sharing and streaming sites, like YouTube and Twitch.tv. Unfortunately, they do have a problem with any adult content that was not originally included in the base game, at release. So, I find myself facing a very difficult decision; remove any and all content that would be considered in breach of YouTube/Twitch's community content standards, or spend hours going through footage, frame-by-frame, in many cases, and blurring out any naughty bits that happen to get captured on film. Enter, Moral Guardianship. The premise of this mod is rather simple; the mod monitors characters (configurable, through MCM; option to monitor just player, player and follower, or all characters), and selectively applies image-space modifications (blur) to NPCs when they unequip configured armor slots, exposing their goodies. The mod would ideally be fully-configurable through MCM, including a toggle to completely disable and enable the mod, at will. The goal here being that a content creator who has nude body textures, and other "objectionable" content installed in their game, can play normally, without fear of incurring the ban-hammer upon their channel, then still be able to engage in "fun stuff", when the cameras are off. Technical Details: This mod would likely consist of at least one script, that is set to monitor characters (as configured by MCM) based on a set of criteria. - Gender: Male characters would be safe to unequip upper torso-covering pieces, allowing for topless male characters to be uncensored. This option could be disabled, allowing topless ladies a pass, as well. - Equipment: What slots are monitored. Useful, especially for outfits that use non-standard armor slots. The effect would be applied when a character falls under the criteria as defined in MCM values, according to the following parameters: - Blur strength: How much blur to apply. A slight fuzziness, so that details can't be seen, or full-on, Sims-style pixelation? - Blur extent: How large of an area to blur. This can be configured to cover the entire torso, from neck to knees, or just the barest amount to get by (hentai-style censorship). I currently have limited knowledge of the Creation Kit, and image space modification as it applies to the game, or this particular concept. Hence, I am posting here, requesting assistance, guidance, or even a nudge toward an existing mod(s) that could be tweaked to accomodate the objective. I realize that censorship is not really a topic that most here would be all that enthused about, and I certainly don't wish to make anyone upset. I simply want to find a nice middle-ground, allowing me to have my proverbial cake, and be able to stream it, too. ;P
Ankahet Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Ehhh, even if you censored it, they will still jump down your throat. I've uploaded plenty of videos that were taken down even though I had gone through with Sony Vegas and censored like all of it. To make a mod that does that, would be unfortunately waste of time and effort as they are going to throw a fit anyway =/
Content Consumer Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 It might be easier for you in the long run to go to Mod Organizer, and use that to create separate profiles. That way you can have your prurient profile for when you play and your puritanical profile for when you record. Caveat: I've never used Mod Organizer, but there are several threads and lots of people who can help you out.

To make a mod that does that, would be unfortunately waste of time and effort as they are going to throw a fit anyway =/ Really? That's... backwards, to put it politely. Here, broadcast television allows for full nudity to be allowed after the "prime time" slot is over (11PM, US), but YouTube/Google and Twitch/Amazon have to be so puritanical as to completely disallow anything remotely resembling a nipple, unless it's part of the base game? That's rather disheartening... Doing some research, I turned up this bit: Sexually explicit acts or content: Nudity can't be a core focus or feature of the game in question and modded nudity is disallowed in its entirety. Occurrences in game are okay, so long as you do not make them a primary focus of your stream and only spend as much time as needed in the area to progress the game's story. -Twitch.TV Rules of Conduct Sexually explicit content like pornography is not allowed. Videos containing fetish content will be removed or age-restricted depending on the severity of the act in question. In most cases, violent, graphic, or humiliating fetishes are not allowed to be shown on YouTube. A video that contains nudity or other sexual content may be allowed if the primary purpose is educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic, and it isn’t gratuitously graphic. For example, a documentary on breast cancer would be appropriate, but posting clips out of context from the same documentary might not be. Remember that providing context in the title and description will help us and your viewers determine the primary purpose of the video. Age-restricted contentIn cases where videos do not cross the line, but still contain sexual content, we may apply an age-restriction so that only viewers over a certain age can view the content. Videos containing nudity or dramatized sexual conduct may be age-restricted when the context is appropriately educational, documentary, scientific or artistic. Videos featuring individuals in minimal or revealing clothing may also be age-restricted if they're intended to be sexually provocative, but don't show explicit content. -YouTube.com, Nudity and sexual content That's very disheartening... I had intentions of creating a machinima series that featured some "age-restricted" content, including partial nudity, and a romance subplot that would have been tastefully and tactfully handled. I'm not sure if that would fall under YouTube's definition of "artistic" purpose, but I suppose I would be better of not risking it... It might be easier for you in the long run to go to Mod Organizer, and use that to create separate profiles. That way you can have your prurient profile for when you play and your puritanical profile for when you record. But, it seems like using an impact wrench for a task where needle-nose pliers would be more appropriate.

But developing a mod from scratch to selectively blur-out portions of a character when certain slots are removed may be a bit more of a hassle. Which slots? There are several clothing and armor mods that use nonstandard slots for various items. If you have an "armor" that takes the main body slot but still has exposed nipples, the mod would be unable to determine that. Some armors are also translucent or even transparent, which would negate the utility of the mod. How does it know where to apply imods? You can't give X/Y/Z coordinates to an imod and tell it to apply it locally to a specific area of the body. At least, I know of no way to do that at all. You'd be better off making a mod that re-equips a blur-effect as an actual piece of armor that covers the slot(s) in question. Essentially an armor mod that instead of using a solid mesh, maybe a feathered mesh or magic effect, or heavily-modified transparent texture. You might get away with using slavetats or some other method of body tattoo to cover up spots, but that's just a texture, I'm not sure it would work for this... In any case, removing armor will almost certainly lead to a very slight delay before the next armor is applied. This is apparent in the sounds you hear if you're using Devious Devices mods, when you remove torso armor or clothing, there is immediately another sound effect indicating that the device hider has been engaged (equipped). So this delay, though merely a fraction of a second, will force you to go through frame-by-frame to edit out stuff anyway. I'm thinking that the delay for imods might actually be longer.

Yeah, you make very valid points. Particularly with the delay for armor unequip and equip effects. How does it know where to apply imods? You can't give X/Y/Z coordinates to an imod and tell it to apply it locally to a specific area of the body. At least, I know of no way to do that at all. I had imagined that the blur would be centered on the pubic area, and would be configurable as an oval shape, extending outward from there. Which slots? There are several clothing and armor mods that use nonstandard slots for various items. If you have an "armor" that takes the main body slot but still has exposed nipples, the mod would be unable to determine that. Some armors are also translucent or even transparent, which would negate the utility of the mod. That would ideally be a configurable option in MCM, similar to the stripping feature in SexLab. You would, of course, need to know which slots are used by which peices, requiring the use of a mod like "SkyUI - show armor slots". As far as translucent or transparent armors, or those that expose nipples, would lie beyond the scope of the mods utility. So, in the end, it looks like these caveats you bring up, plus the draconian policies of the content sites I had intended to work with, pretty much negate the entire concept. Mod, please remove this thread.
