M.BISON Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 hello I've got a simple question which I cant find the answer for I never thought about the social side and multilayer on steam and gave myself a name that doesn't sound cool to me The question Is the profile name separate from your steam account name that you use to sign in? So if I change my profile name will that be like my "gamertag" (xblive) on steam? So everyone will recognise me by my profile name and it will show my profile name in multiplayer matches? Thanks in advance!
PsychoMachina Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Yes, the profile name is what other members see and is changeable. The account name is private because it's what you use to login.

Keep in mind that your old name will be able to be taken if you drop it as well (I believe) I have personally even changed it myself so I know that PsychoMachina is correct. This is also the case for Origin as well.

This is also the case for Origin as well. Not true, the profile name can be anything you like. it doesn't matter if already used. Try it. Use add friend option and type "han solo" for example. Lots of hits. Accountname has to be unique.
