Oblivion_Cat Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Hi One of my mods is messing up certain NPCs and their factions i suspect it is live another life and some of the sexlab add ons. The bug is that i cannot buy a house in whiterun. I have 10k gold. I've killed the dragon, i am thane and housecarl. But i get no option to buy a house. The jarl in falkreth will not speak to me. The quest to go talk to him doesn't progress. Captured Dreams shop also has a quest involving the Jarl and that quest gets stuck because of the glitched Jarl. This is not the first time it has happened. Last time i started over thinking it was because i was testing several mods. But now it happened on this play as well. So what i want to test is which mod is causing this glitch. Running only a few mods at a time, but i don't know how to test it fast. As it requires me to play up until the jarl sends me a letter or i go see him. I become than of whiterun. So is there a faster approach to testout this glitch? What led me to believe factions are screwed is this from Captured Dreams thread help CDxEQ01jarl It should be either 1 or 2 depending on who is the Jarl of Falkreath (1 = Siddgeir, 2 = Dengeir) Jarl was = 0 To me that seems the jarl was never put in a faction. Setting him to 1 did not resolve the quest issues with falkreath quest nor captured dreams. So i suspect the same with Avenecci in whiterun and him not giving me option to buy a house.
Oblivion_Cat Posted August 27, 2015 Author Posted August 27, 2015 Oh yeah the general goods shop keeper in Falkreath will not talk to me either.
Blackness blackness is... Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 it's so sad when people don't even bother helping. if i knew how i would. little advice on the side in case you haven't given up on this topic yet. instead of coming back to it in blind hope follow the topics you make yourself. that way you can avoid missing important messages and save time

So your goal is to get the Thane of Falkreath to send you the Hearthfire letter, right? You could use the mod Timing is Everything to lower the level requirements for the letter being sent. Or you could just use player.setlevel # in the console to bring you up to the appropriate level, I think the requirement for that quest is reaching level 9. You may have to fast-travel somewhere after getting to level 9 in order to spawn the courier.

The other is being able to buy a house in whiterun. Is there console commands that will allow that? Like setting queststages, unless they are script based. Then i guess it won't work.
bjornk Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Might be related to changes in dialogue topic conditions. You may load up your entire mod list in TES5Edit and check if there are any mods that modify those dialogue conditions. If there are any, then you may check if the conditions are met. This may not be the actual problem, but it's worth checking out. You may also try spawning another copy of the NPC using player.placeatme <ACTOR_BASE_ID> and try talking to that one. If you have SexLab or the MFG Console mod, it should display the base id of the NPC. To check whether or not the NPC's factions are messed up, you may also start a new game without mods, "prid <NPC_REFERENCE_ID>" and then "getinfaction <FACTION_ID>" commands to check the default vanilla factions of the NPC and then compare them with the ones in your modded game. The topic ID for Whiterun house purchase is 000A7B19. Check that dialogue topic first. There are 5 conditions in vanilla game for the topic to show up: - You must not already own a house in WR - The dialogue with Avenicci must take place in WR - Avenicci should be a member of JobStewardFaction ("getinfaction 50922" should return 1 for Avenicci) - Your relationship rank with Balgruuf (or with his StormCloak replacement) should be at least 2. ("getrelationshiprank player" should return at least 2 for Balgruuf (13BBD) )
