BruceWayne Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 What's not to understand? It tells you exactly what is going on. Reduce the number of mods to be less than 139 and you should be good to go.
zippy57 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 That's that stupid Nexus plugin limit bullshit. Do you have JIP Command and Control by any chance? I can give you a version of the plugin with that popup message removed.

Or Just Remove The Error? 1.]http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/50468/? 2.]http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/59697/?
zippy57 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 There's nothing to fix. The error it's talking about doesn't actually exist. Replacing your C&C plugin with the one I've attached should stop the message from appearing. If I attached the right one, that is. Let me know when you've downloaded it and have confirmed or denied that it is working so I can remove it. JIP Companions Command & Control.esp

It is real, the only thing that is not exactly known is the exact number of plugins that causes it, since some people can get away with more, some with less. 139 is the "agreed" upon limit which is given as a rule of thumb and lowest common denominator. Though I wasn't aware that some plugins have actual warnings like the one above built in.

Though I wasn't aware that some plugins have actual warnings like the one above built in.The error message C&C is giving is specifically referring to the non-existent rollover bug that was "discovered" on the Nexus after some person misread an MO log, ran with it, and no one bothered to check his work.
BruceWayne Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 While that may be, I can understand why authors wouldn't want to offer support for bugs that may arise, if the plugin limit, wherever it may be, is reached. Or are you saying that there is new insight in the "max. plugin" dilemma? I haven't kept up with it, after our discussion a couple of years ago.
zippy57 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 No new insight. It's pretty much what I said: Some random person on the Nexus misread a Mod Organizer log for FNV and declared that 139 plugins was a hard limit due to an engine bug causing FormIDs to roll over to 00 starting with the 140th plugin, thereby overwriting vanilla records. It would take ten minutes max to disprove (I would know because I did it) but the Nexus being the Nexus everyone was either dumb enough to go along with it or too afraid of being banned to say anything to the contrary. Time passes and it goes from being a theory advanced by someone who doesn't even know how hexadecimal works to "fact", and we get an error message in C&C that pops up every single time you load a game scaring users into thinking something is going horribly wrong. The plugin limit is still user-by-user, and the signs of the plugin limit being reached are well known and its easy to identify when a user is reporting a related issue, so a message like this is just stupid and unnecessary. Additionally, there's no evidence whatsoever that hitting the plugin limit does anything other than screw up mesh and texture loading, so claims of game corruption are also ridiculous, though they're mostly based on the already-disproven notion that Doc Mitchell might become a toaster if mod 140 has the wrong ID in the wrong place.
Guest Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 The limit before CTD both PS and me found was 165 - number of mods that use at least 1 BSA file. But just few days ago I found a post of Luthien Anarion which was saying something more about that 139 limit, he was writing it was a bug introduced after a certain patch of NV. There could be more and we simply never knew that, I always said I was finding so strange that both Luthien Anarion and JIP took that silly explanation on Nexus as a valid explanation, when it takes you only 10 minutes to verify that it was false and the IDs don't roll over
