Lexicon won't activate in Avanchnzel Boiler room.

So that's about it, just can't place the lexicon on the pedestal at the end of avanchnzel boiler room to advance the quest, have several other glitches/broken quests already, so far this first pc playthrough has been bugier than my original attempts on ps3 3 years ago. Could really use some help. Have unofficial patches, all dlc, deactivated the patches, all mods that seem like they could even remotely affect dungeons, just down to a couple armor mods, and character creation mods. Tried save game cleaner, made clean saves (as much as possible anyway) Have reloaded saves from before entering and replayed, went back to Stands with a Fist or w/e the lizards name is in riften for the heck of it. Tried adding another lexicon using console, just can't get it to work here for some reason. Quest arrow is floating over the pedestal so the quest knows i'm at that point but the darn thing just won't work. Any chance there's some console command to force the pedestal to activate? I don't think I can just advance the stage to completion because I'd be skipping the actual rewards by not decoding it right? (idr the quest)

Your mod load order would help out.

 

But, I'm gonna take a wild guess here (it has worked in the past), but I guessing you're using a mod called "animation" or something similar? (that adds more animations for various actions, like looting, harvesting, eating  etc etc), If so, it's known for causing a bug that sometimes will prevent you from doing certain things, and one of them is to activate certain objects etc etc (like the thing with your quest).

 

There is a fix for it thou. You will have to pause the game and then click on the Animation Tab in the MCM and find something called "block mode" or something similar.

It's not picked (or unpicked, can't remember which one by now) by default, and you will simply have to pick/unpick the box.

 

If you don't use this mod at all, ignore my "fix". But, we still need your load order to really be able to help you.

Try "setstage ms04 900" or "setstage ms04 1000". It's the Unfathomable Depths quest, right?

I'm sorry for almost useless advice but setting stages and reloading until it works is your best bet. Try loading some of the older saves. I highly doubt if this is caused by a mod or any leftover scripts. You can also try Savegame Script Scalpel just in case.
