I'm lost with Fnis

I came back to skyrim after a longer while and I swear I did everything as I remember. Didn't work, google around for solution, found nothing. I bet it's about some simple thing that I didn't figure out.

So, I installed Fnis and all it's extensions via Mod Organizer, it always worked that way. I run the ForUser via mod manager, generate, it catches 47 animations, no errors. After that I launch the game and I get an error. I'm unsure if it's sexlab or Fnis that makes this error, but I'm pretty sure it's sexlab.

It's the stock error that tells me to either install fnis 5.1+ or use the generate function. Even though I did.

Mod organizer picks up no error, my load order is already tweaked. Tried re-installing but it didn't help, I went down to the previous version (5.4), doesn't work either.
The install is fresh so SkyUI and SKSE are both new I think. Didn't find any newer version at least.

So...what did I miss? Any ideas? I did my best for like two hours, I'm beaten. Completely no idea what's going on.

When you run FNIS, is it showing the correct version. A common mistake I make is after updating is not correctly setting up the executable, so I end up launching the old version instead of the new version.

Sadly I was already running it via the mod organizer. After checking, I can also confirm that I'm running the right executable. Just to be sure I got rid of the one I didn't want to use as well.

Have you made a mod to move your overwrite files to? If so, maybe there is a old file that is not being overwritten. Try unchecking it and rerun FNIS. Provided you installed FNIS correctly, I can't think of anything else offhand.

Well, I took all the files in overwritten folder and put them directly into the mod folders they came from (mod organizer suggested that). Now I have no idea which ones have those been though.

Aside that, when making my mod order (had to resolve one CTD) I turned everything off and then added mods one by one, every time I did get the Fnis undetected/ungenerated error.

Just realized that my FNIS doesn't read sexlab

Skeleton(hkx) female: Default (99 bones)   male: Default (99 bones)

Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix"

Reading FNISBase V5.4.2 ...
Reading FNISCreatureVersion V5.3 ...
Reading FNISSpells V5.0.1  ( 0 furniture, 0 offset, 9 paired, 0 kill, 0 alternate animations) ...

All Anim Lists scanned. Generating Behavior Files ...
Generating animationsetdatasinglefile.txt ...

Create Creature Behaviors ...
0_master usage: 3.4 %   ( 9 paired, 0 kill animations)

141 animations for 3 mods successfully included (character)

Even though Sexlab works properly-in game, but in turn doesn't see FNIS and tells me to install/generate it.

Somehow I must have a screwed up installation ?? Sounds pretty impossible when using MO. Anyone know why it can happen? There's a bunch of people posting about this issue, but no one ever wrote down how they solved it.

I had this exact problem a couple of days ago.  I think I fixed it by updating to the newer (beta) version of SKSE.  It was either that which did it, or getting rid of Devious Casino, I can't remember which.  Try it.

Forgive the double-post, but this will be useful to whoever has the same problem.
Mod organizer for some reason cannot handle the current version of FNIS from itself. You no longer can install FNIS via mod organizer, even though it used to work.
Just put all the files into the data folder of skyrim and then run FNIS via MO. That fixed everything for me.

Thank to everyone who pitched-in with their ideas! It feels good to receive some help.

I am having multiple issues trying to use FNIS 5.5 (and the 5.5 fix - install on top) with MO. Installing the 'always necessary' 5.5 is no trouble, but installing the 'fix' will never show the file-tree being green, as in 'looks good.'

To try and resolve this I opened both .rar files and placed the fix 'on top' of the original generatefnisforusers.exe and made an archive to install in MO. This 'seems' to work, yet when I try to add FNIS to the list of executables in MO it does not appear (and yes, I clicked add after assigning the correct file path) in the list.

I tried as above to put the files in the data folder of skyrim, but even when selecting generatefnisforusers from that file path MO will not add it to the executables list, making it impossible to run FNIS via MO.

Using MO 1.3.8

I cannot find any information to fix this and am sure that I can't be the only one having trouble? Thank you.
