Kira_of_Tilgia Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 So, I've had a lengthy adventure trying to prepare my Skyrim for being able to have kinky zaney adventures in an aesthetically pleasing and treasure filled Skyrim. I've been through the ringer over a dozen or so times. Originally I had no clue what I was doing. Then I thought Nexus Mod Manager was the way to go. You can imagine how many times I've had to Completely reinstall Skyrim. I finally discovered Mod Organizer and I am Sooo grateful for its existence, nevertheless, things still haven't quite worked out for me... I have Loot, Boss, Wrye Bash, Tes5Edit and of course, SKSE... And SkyUI and Bodyslide and . . . Anyway, I've got the mods I think I want for sure. I've merged plugins with TES5Edit before with some amount of success. But there are almost always serious mistakes and I'm really getting sick of trying to fix things after I fucked them up. The damage is limited by having MO, but it can still be a pain in the arse and I really, really would like to avoid spending more than another day or two fixing all this so I can FINALLY Play a Stable naughty, treasure packed, and generally glorious Skyrim. So I thought I would come here and see if anyone has any suggestions on what I should be able to safely merge without causing conflicts, missing master troubles etc. I only need to reduce my load order to 254 (it's currently 364 >.<, Doesn't need to be smaller, not that smaller would be a problem if it doesn't cause issues. (Also I have DLed and RE-DLed all this shit so many times I can't remember what I actually got vs what I've gotten before and don't have now, so if there's anything Obviously Missing, please, Please, let me know, I will L U forever.) I've tried to best guess this shit so many times I'm kinda out of my mind now. Any help or suggestions on this that leads to a successful merge patch that doesn't end up with me being spammed with Sounds of Skyrim crap (I had the three separate ones and something that depended on them for masters and omg that was a fucking Nightmare for testing ImmerSlave, which I might get again if I have room after merging), and being able to have all the mods I want, will result in magical internet cookies of nomness and no consequences, also my undying gratitude. Anatriax Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 1) Get rid of BOSS. It's not needed anymore, and is actually unsupported now (For Skyrim, anyways) 2) Merge armors first. Then weapons.3) If you're using MO, don't attempt to merge mods that have a "Scripts" folder in their file structure (Right click > Information > File Tree tab) 4) Extract the BSA files for the official HD pack and put the loose files into it's own mod. Then get rid of the .esps for those. They're just cluttering up your load order, and do nothing but tell the game the BSA files are there. If you extract the BSA, you can remove the plugins. 5) Idk about "Nasser Size" and "Secunda size" but they seem like only one of those plugins is needed. Pick one. Remove the rest.

Ooo, I did Not know or think to check for Script containing mods that way. About the HD pack though. . . I have USKP, so do I need one of the ESPs for that to not pitch a fit? The Masser and Secunder size things are to resize the two moons, one for each moon, but idk if they're going to do what I want them to. *I'm a derp, I didn't realize how MANY esps Masser and Secunder added @__@ *fixes that*~

Anatriax Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I don't use the patch for the high res pack, but then again, I unpack them, then overwrite the textures with Skyrim 2k HD. Which, effectively fixes the problems the patch does. also reduces load order by 4 esp files

Should I install them manually? And if so, suggestions on doing that so as to not murder or damage Skyrim would be awesome. I'm trying my best to avoid having to go through the whole reinstalling that from scratch thing ever again.

Is the optimizer a "need that" or a "It's just very nice and helpful" or a "It's not necessary but it will make a serious and massive and almost vital difference"?

Ashkandii Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 put this in a spoiler because its not that relevant I recently merged a alot of mods like..alot... what i do is get all the armor/weapon mods, merge them then all them small-ish mods that just add .esps i have about 40 mods into one which all work completely normal recently i tried merging magic mods, but it seems Forgotten magic is missing its MCM which is very annoying because i can't upgrade spells and change it drop rates but other then that it works completely fine. now for script mods i actually merged together and no problems my only current problem is no MCM with forgotten magic and AFT bugging up not allowing me to access my followers inventories. using as much as 300+ mods would recommend changing your skse.ini memory to something around 1024 just in case, with my all 200-ish mods i use around 300-400 memory near enough everytime, actually i never crash now but i restart skyrim every 1hr because it starts to get slow and couple stutters come up nothing worrying really. you use the merge plugins 1.9 right? Also you can merge all of your eyes hairs mod etc into one big file, i currently use kshairdos, sg hairs and all apachis into one i got like 800 hairs but thats just for when i want to use a certain hair from each of the mods, file is around 6GB big though lol

I've pretty much followed Anatriax's guide for the most part but MO just confuses me and I use NMM. As she mentioned armor and weapons can easily be merged but I don't merge Heavy Armory or Immersive Armor/Weapons as too many other mods call on them as their masters. I merge patches with those that they patch like Interesting NPCs have several different patches from Crafting Overhaul and EFF. So, I'll merge these together. Player homes can be merged as well. I've merged 5 with no hassle. This includes the hidden hideouts as well. Hair and Tattoos/warpaints can be merged as well but if you use KS Hair there are several mods that need this. I have a merged pack of NB-Scars, Nuska Warpaint, EmpyreanCS, RaceMenuOverlayComp, Hag's stuff, Neithteam warpaint, and WyldmenuPlugFemale. The dynamic loot addons can be merged into one but there are some mods that expect have access to aMidianBorn stuff like the book of silence stuff. It's the immersion mods that kill me. I'm fine with everything but they all seem so good to pass up and they add up very quickly.

RedMonika Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 put this in a spoiler because its not that relevant I recently merged a alot of mods like..alot... what i do is get all the armor/weapon mods, merge them then all them small-ish mods that just add .esps i have about 40 mods into one which all work completely normal recently i tried merging magic mods, but it seems Forgotten magic is missing its MCM which is very annoying because i can't upgrade spells and change it drop rates but other then that it works completely fine. now for script mods i actually merged together and no problems my only current problem is no MCM with forgotten magic and AFT bugging up not allowing me to access my followers inventories. using as much as 300+ mods would recommend changing your skse.ini memory to something around 1024 just in case, with my all 200-ish mods i use around 300-400 memory near enough everytime, actually i never crash now but i restart skyrim every 1hr because it starts to get slow and couple stutters come up nothing worrying really. you use the merge plugins 1.9 right? Also you can merge all of your eyes hairs mod etc into one big file, i currently use kshairdos, sg hairs and all apachis into one i got like 800 hairs but thats just for when i want to use a certain hair from each of the mods, file is around 6GB big though lol On those that the MCM menu isn't coming up did you try to create the SEQ file? (Not actually sure I have any of those this go round but best to be safe) These are actually ESMs. I have merged ApachiiHairStyles.esp, ApachiiHairStylesElves.esp, SGEyebrows, and truebrows together just fine.

(Not actually sure I have any of those this go round but best to be safe) Go to TES5Edit and go on the mod that requires apachii sky hair, then to file header and change the masterfile what says "Apachiiskyhair.esm right click Edit > yes then change it to the merged mods name plug in example, my merged plugin is called Hairs and eyes merged.esp apachiisky npc overhaul require apachiiskyhair.esm apachiiskyhairfemales.esm and apachiihairmales.esm i change first one to "hairs and eyes merged.esp" dont delete the other two rename them to something else for instance Dawnguard.esm and Dragonborn.esm works completely since it now takes files from the merged mod instead of nowhere Thats the way i did it but the .esps would work fine but my method also works fine, Could take a screenshot of what i mean if dont understand wtf i just said

Ashkandii Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I dont use Bash myself i normally stick to my guns (MO guns) and rely on merging stuff through merge plugins xedit script. Just remember not leave the masterfiles blank and make sure the other required master files are also inside the merged mod otherwise you will have missing meshes/textures, you can just have dragonborn and dawnguard as dummy masters they wont use anything from there unless it was intended to do that dont suppose anyone can tell me why using Skyrim HD Lite(or any texture replacers that affect exteriors) makes my game crash randomly, like not at certain points just randomly.

I have Wrye Bash, but I don't really actually use it, I don't really understand that one very well. I use the TES5Edit one, and yes, the 1.9 version I'm fairly certain. The most recent one of about . . . maybe a month ago? I'm shocked how many of the mods I got again have updated since I got them at the beginning of the summer @.@;
Ashkandii Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Oh yeah and MO hates merged mods and .bsa's remember to tick them in the Archive section. and general knowledge, dont merge mods that overwrite other mods files, otherwise you have no idea who overwritten who lol yeah i had to update that Redgaurd expansion pack 3 times, now I can finally play it because its reached its final version.. since i got summertset isle's also to do. seems my skyrim character is booked for a hella-adventure.

I've pretty much followed Anatriax's guide for the most part but MO just confuses me and I use NMM. As she mentioned armor and weapons can easily be merged but I don't merge Heavy Armory or Immersive Armor/Weapons as too many other mods call on them as their masters. I merge patches with those that they patch like Interesting NPCs have several different patches from Crafting Overhaul and EFF. So, I'll merge these together. Player homes can be merged as well. I've merged 5 with no hassle. This includes the hidden hideouts as well. Hair and Tattoos/warpaints can be merged as well but if you use KS Hair there are several mods that need this. I have a merged pack of NB-Scars, Nuska Warpaint, EmpyreanCS, RaceMenuOverlayComp, Hag's stuff, Neithteam warpaint, and WyldmenuPlugFemale. The dynamic loot addons can be merged into one but there are some mods that expect have access to aMidianBorn stuff like the book of silence stuff. It's the immersion mods that kill me. I'm fine with everything but they all seem so good to pass up and they add up very quickly. >.O I remember when I used to use NMM. If you ever decide it's not working out for you, Mod Organizer is Amazing. NMM fucks with your base game. MO doesn't. If you decide you've completely fucked up you can just chuck the mods and don't have to worry about your base game being messed up. And you can use the profiles to check out different mods and stuff. ^__^ Thank you all very much for your input, I think I might have some ideas of what to do now to hopefully cram these mods a lil tighter >;D

I think u can even update mods within the merged mod just by merging it again, not sure what i did but i managed to do it somehow.

I understand that it's totally geared for Skyrim but I just don't know what I'm doing with it. You're most welcome. I hope I was able to shine some light for you with merging mods. I'm still learning from my mistakes as well. I have about 500 mods that I'm trying to use.

If you're talking about the automatic merged mod with TES5Edit, it's advised to delete the .esp and create a new one any time you have to re-merge.
