i've found that this method doesn't Work in oblivion, at least for me

so either follow the guidelines in the description or you'll have to open up the creation kit and find the item through there

Check the mod in question's page (where you downloaded it from) and also read the readme.txt that came with the mod.  99.9% of the time the details are found there.

 

Your only other course of action is to use the construction set (that is what it is called for oblivion) to see what cell the mod author might have hid it in.  That option is only for advanced users.
