Gummybear_Qc Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 So sometimes, using NMM, when activating a mod it says do I want to overwrite? Like example, I install UNP and then if I go ahead and install let's say HDT it will ask me to overwrtite the files of mod UNP. How do I know if I have to overwrite it or not?
Anatriax Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 The best solution is to either:1) know your mods and what their assets are or 2) Follow a guide until you DO know what your mod's assets are. In the case of bodies/character alterations, check out phase 6 of my guide for more information for the proper order of install. Note that HDT-PE should be installed BEFORE anything and everything that could possibly alter your characters body.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Ditch NMM and get MO. You can control your overwrites without having to physically overwrite it. You can shift your mods in the mod list (not load order) so that meshes, textures and other files take priority over others. That's if it's not packed in a BSA. And honestly BSA is a waste. It's better to have everything compressed in a archive as loose files because loose files take priority over BSAs. Trust me, Mod Organizer is the way to go. Ditch that junk mod manager called Nexus Mod Manager and get the real deal.
Veladarius Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 It doesn't matter which mod manager you use if you don't know what should overwrite what.
Swiftstep Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Get MO to understand what overwrites what and why - the NMM does not show how the mods interact with each other (and a modded skyrim with SL and HDT mods has a lot of interaction). MO let's you understand how a modded skyrim actually works. If you like NMM more, there is no reason why you have to stick to MO.
