Lizzy Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 let me start by saying of course this isn't so immersive :P i need someone to help, not just tell me roughly how to do it for a custom race in skyrim of this model actually, these two models but the left one I would like to start with of both genders (i have both genders, many color options) as some backstory, i was Culuf of several chan forums, providing requests for visitors however, depression (loss of a friend to suicide) and tiring of the same old trolling led me away this 3D model is of the Daz Studio program i don't understand Poser and adding bone weights, all of the things necessary to adding this type of model into Skyrim also when i even add in a follower and place them into a location of Skyrim, that location crashes every time i would need a lot of assistance, but I'm willing to provide any poses (exported as .obj), the textures custom made, etc. is anyone willing to take this on?
sunhawken Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 first upload the needed files (nif textures models .etc)
Guest Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 NIFs files are the key. If you need somebody to transform the .obj in NIF files this will require a huge amount of time. Creating the race, setting a few NPC, also as followers, with this race is easy and I can help. But don't ask me to create the NIFs for you. That is not in my skills. Keep in mind also that you may need some clothes/armors, and because of the custom bodies, you will have to create them from scratch (at least by replacing standard bodies with your ones in the Armor objects.)

Nightasy has some youtube tutorials. I have to figure out how to use 3DSMAX the tutorial only deals with clothes maybe she will have to be an armor instead of a race, like the battletoads Rash model? I'll be back later guys x_x
Guest Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Technically it is possible to have a special "body/face/hands/feet" on an existing race. But you still need custom armors. Crating the race is easy, don't worry about it. The items that are required are: * Body NIF (no head, no hands, no feet), with the textures * Feet NIF that uses the same texture for the body * Hands NIF with specific texture * face NIF (and maybe the face TRIs) with the specific texture If you have the former items, then creating the race is like eating a piece of cake.

Guest Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Sorry, I am not an expert of 3D Studio (actually I don't know at all how to use 3D tools.) I only understand the background logic, but I almost never used them. The error you see is because the tree of NiNodes has to be a pure tree. You cannot add the same child to two branches in a NIF file. But I have no idea about how to find the offending node in 3D Studio.

The tri files are used to give relative positions to the head parts (hair, eyes, mouth, etc.) Usually they can be exported (in some unknown way to me) from the 3D tool, and then fixed with a tool like Conformulator. But in 90% of cases they can simply be ignored.
Lizzy Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 Update: Okay, I tried to start from scratch with Nightasy's tutorials here: https://www.youtube.com/user/NightasyTutorials/videos Just so I could understand 3DS Max better and actually port a .fbx as a .nif. And here's another problem. I can't even continue past the 6th video of his series, as I could only get 3DS Max 2014. His tutorials use 3DS Max 2012. I have no idea where to find the 2012 version. (Not available on the website anymore) 3DS Max 2014 has the following problem when I try to import anything that isn't a body .nif from Skyrim This is what happens when I try to import the hide armor's .nif into 3DS Max with the .nif plugin. Ugh, I had such plans to put many different types of aliens into Skyrim but I keep hitting brick walls.
Vioxsis Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 There is no skeleton in the view port, did you hide it?
Stevierage Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I just imported then exported the files as nifs, did nothing else to them. nifs.rar
alpalia Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I just imported then exported the files as nifs, did nothing else to them. nifs.rar nice, i can always use it as playermodel ^^ wanted to turn it, but you more faster than me, thanks XD
Lizzy Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 There is no skeleton in the view port, did you hide it? It didn't import anything, like when it actually accepted the femalebody_0.nif This time it didn't accept the light hide armor .nif file I just imported then exported the files as nifs, did nothing else to them. nifs.rar Thanks so much! We're now a step closer. nice, i can always use it as playermodel ^^ wanted to turn it, but you more faster than me, thanks XD Ohh, when you do will you share please? I just want it for personal use in my Skyrim. I'm going to try my hand at making the body parts armors but.. I'm not sure how successful I will be. Would be better as a custom race, because I have so many semi alien-like clothes to be imported as armors. If the head (or hands, feet etc) isn't posed the way you want, or you want additional expressions exported as .fbx let me know. Happy, sad, angry, etc. There's also males.

Import a skeleton first on its own (vanilla/ XPMSE only acceptable skeletons) Then the body/armour/clothes with the skeleton box unchecked.

It's not available as all formats when I go to import, and nifskope won't open it. (I'm very new at using 3DSMax and skeleton stuff in general)
Vioxsis Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 you don't import the .hkx you import the skeleton.nif.
