tamaster92 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I'll keep this nice and short, I came back to continue my mod and now the GECK gets stuck when 'initializing references'. This only happens when loading sexout, the base NV works perfectly. Help me?
tamaster92 Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 apologise for the bump but this is an urgent issue
Guest Loogie Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 As pointed out in the other thread that was just posted with this issue, are you starting the GECK with NVSE?
Halstrom Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 The GECK is pretty buggy at times, I recommend turning on the auto backup feature and also making sure you save your work every time you reach a major stage, then copy that into another folder. There are so many ways to crash GECK, none of them reliable. Also check your load order too, if SCR is after Legion then it may lockup as described, it also aborts a load by FNVedit too. Sometimes GECK just takes a while if a lot of mods are present. Sorry I have no magic fix for you. Perhaps run FNVEdit first, it finds a lot of errors GECK doesn't show. In my experience both are needed to do mods. I usually use FNVEdit to check Mods before releasing them.
tamaster92 Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 I am indeed running it with NVSE and it only started malfunctioning today, worked fine before. I'll check out FNVEdit but damn I hope it can be fixed
tamaster92 Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Nope, but like I said I never had to before, it worked just fine
tamaster92 Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Tried powerup, no difference. I am loading new vegas, sexxout, SCR, sexoutslavery, sexout legion ad I end up with this screen: It then hangs at that screen, i left it for an hour...
tamaster92 Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 If it helps I went through each one starting from the top to see which fails to load and as soon as I put Sexout on it hangs. So its a problem with sexout, on my end obviously

Ah it might have been running twice in the background or similar. When you start using powerup, you have to start it by the powerup/NVSE file rather than the normal GECK icon, there should be more details in the readme, you won't be able to live without it if you do any scripting, it will tell you what line the error is on 99.9% of the time. Without it the script just refuses to save with no messages.

You need either the NVSE Powerup version from the NVSE site (I believe there is a newer one on nexus somewhere), or the powerup *plugin* for NVSE. I use the latter, along with the normal geck+nvse shortcut.
yogsothoth Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Thanks loads for this advice - I've been trying to figure out why I couldn't open Sexout in the GECK for weeks. Never considered that I had to go through NVSE, but now it's working like a charm.
