Found an ENB Crossfire/SLI fix

Recommended Posts

As title states I finally found a working way to use both my gpu's without disabling one or losing Depth of field or having stutter/strange flickers.

I'm leaving this short FAQ here for people that are in the same boat as me and want all benefits of regular ENB's and still having a better fps from using both gpu's.

Maybe some of the people here found this topic from an thread on the nexus :

Hey

I have 2x 7970's setup in crossfire. I have found a temporary fix.

1) Download Sharpshooters original ENB http://www.nexusmods...yrim/mods/15105

2) Extract the following file from it "enbeffectprepass.fx" and copy it to your desktop.

3) Right click the file from your desktop and open it in either notepad or notepad ++

4) Find or search for the line "#define USE_SMOOTH_DOF"

5) Disable it by adding // in front of it. So it will look like

"//#define USE_SMOOTH_DOF"

6) Then save and close the file.

7) Then copy and paste the file to your Skyrim folder overwriting the other "enbeffectprepass.fx" file from what ever ENB you're currently using.

This does indeed work however it restricts you to only using Sharpshooters ENB.

Basically what u need to do is install Sharpshooters ENB and edit the "enbeffectprepass.fx" and save both that edited "enbeffectprepass.fx" and the "d3d9.dll" file from the enb file from sharpshooter somewhere in a secure place.   (Actually I feel pretty stupid that I didn't figure this out earlier myself).

Now u can install any ENB out there and just replace/or add the "enbeffectprepass.fx" that u edited + the "d3d9.dll" file u saved from sharpshooters enb into the files from the newly installed ENB.

I've tested it out with a couple of ENB's but all my problems by using ENB's with crossfire have dissapeared while having all the graphical benefits from other ENB's.

P.S

The latest binary from the "d3d9.dll" file from sharpshooter is 0.264 so if that bothers u then this won't help u, although I doubt this bothers a lot of people.

My second card came back today, decided to go with the high end Sharpshooters ENB. I am getting 60 fps indoors and 40 outside but I have uGridsToLoad at 7 and draw distances up 50%-100% over the Ultra setting. I didn't have any difference using the 'enbeffectprepass.fx' file from either of the Sharpshooter ENB's and the custom one I have.

It's more meant to fix the bug of depth of field and the flicker bug using crossfire/sli.

Well, I have not seen either of them but the DOF I am using is rather basic and didn't have the command in question. The DOF I have is set up to only give minimal blurring at long distance.
