Brainstrain2424 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 This is by far the biggest problem I have ever had with Skyrim. I finally decided to get rid of every single mod I have and just play original Skyrim(with all the official DLC and updates of course), but my launcher has stopped working completely, and will not load my game. The exact words I see when I click "play" on the Steam menu are "The Skyrim Launcher has stopped working". I am utterly stuck. I have no mods, this game has been in my computer forever, I have not downloaded anything at all recently into my computer or steam related. I have looked on other sites for some info/help on the matter and can't seem to find any real version of either. It won't start at all, and when I attempt to start, nothing else is running. I have windows 8, the most recent version. I honestly have no idea what to do. If I don't get this fixed, I will never be able to play my Skyrim game again. I mean, SKSE does work, kind of, but all the undead enemies and conjured up thralls do not work, and just stand their, T posed, while everyone else in the game is unaffected. Running FNIS doesn't work, and uninstalling has no affect. If anyone has any idea to solve either or both problems, please help.
pinky6225 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 I think if you want to go from modded skyrim back to unmodded you need to uninstall it via steam and then go and delete anything that's left over in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim as the steam uninstall won't remove mods/files put in the \data folder Then if you re-install it will be vanilla
Brainstrain2424 Posted July 5, 2015 Author Posted July 5, 2015 Nope. I deleted everything that is not an official addon or important for Skyrim. My data files are completely clean of all the old rubble in there. Question: How do you uninstall and reinstall a steam app such a Skyrim, and where do I go to do it? ...Wow. Even TESV doesn't work. WTF is wrong with my game. "Skyrim Launcher has stopped working". Anyone else having or had the same problem as me?
pinky6225 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 You need to right click on it and select delete local content Then go delete anything thats not removed by steam
