Zor2k13 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Looking at the nexus and looking for dark souls mods I remember maybe earlier this year someone was posting one DS weapon at a time almost every day over there. I didn't think anything of it but now I got to thinking a lot about it since I am wondering just where did those mods go? They all got banned and removed? There is an elite knight armor over there and it has been there for YEARS never removed? What if someone uploads a mod over there with a DS armor or weapon in it, will that mod be removed? how is it that one mod stays and others are removed I don't get it.
Vioxsis Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Ripped content gets taken down when posted on nexus, the weapons you mentioned where probably converted from DS. The elite knight armour is probably still there because its not a port, it was probably modelled and textured by the modder themselves putting it in the lighter part of 'the grey area'.
Zor2k13 Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 Yeah that is what I was afraid of, I was looking up xinavro stuff as it seems that some of it was at the center of the ban ripped stuff theme at nexus. I found his dark souls armor mod from few years back on another site. The armors look good! just need some body meshes for wrists and legs to show from the main armors parts to make it work correctly. Hey did he post that mod over at nexus? how long before they took it down?
Vioxsis Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 He used to post his stuff here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/7288-xinavros-conversions-for-skyrim-closed/ I doubt he ever uploaded it to nexus (you can read why in the first post of the link).
Zor2k13 Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 I started reading through that thread and found the mod I found earlier on page 25 I think it was. It sucks that nexus has a site for dark souls mods but won't let us mix dark souls with skyrim even though other games like witcher and terra are allowed no problem. Kinda two faced of them to do that unless from software corp is banging down their doors with bs notices.
Vioxsis Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 The dark souls part of nexus is for mods made by modders for dark souls, they don't let you upload ported skyrim armour for use in DS (i have no idea why anyone would waste their time doing that). Also CD Projekt who made the witcher lets you port their models as long as you don't charge for them and give them credit. And if i remember correctly someone emailed the people responsible for terra and asked for permission to port the models, after more people also asked the simply gave everyone permission like CD Projekt do. You want to hear something funny? bethesda don't give permission to port assets between their games. So you can't port skyrim armour to oblivion, or any other bethesda game.
Zor2k13 Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 Dam that is shit lol because people do that all the time around here! I was looking more at that mod xinarvo posted, it looks like the 0 and 1 models are the same size so weight slider doesn't do anything:-( I tried adding body parts from various mods to the places where they need to be and none of the wrists fit properly they are all off a bit. Did anyone ever upgrade his armor pack to have proper fitting body parts and maybe weight slider too?
datjellyman Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Even if you get permission for these things you still could get banned. A lot of people there will also try to get you banned even if the devs have given permission. I remember seeing one guy upload something and people spammed his mod's page that he needs to remove it and that he can't do that even though the devs gave permission for anyone to use their stuff. I don't know what happened to the mod though since I can't remember the name. There is too many jerks and white knights there. Even if it's someone new to modding and maybe used something without knowing that it was not ok(such as enb binaries) they will get on you really quick and all of a sudden everyone is a wanna-be moderator.

They sub-contract a lot of their modelling and texture work. I suspect it's to cover their asses licence-wise rather than some far fetched 'muahahah you can't have our stuffz' (as for cdproject though I think they were pragmatic enough to know that people won't give a shit if they give their blessing or not and will just do it anyway so they may as well get some more visibility and hero worship out of it) Dam that is shit lol because people do that all the time around here! I know right? yet you can't post links to certain hair packs because..... :s
yatol Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 I know right? yet you can't post links to certain hair packs because..... :s nobody care about that autorisation rule, it's just revenge, that's why some mods are taken down, while others aren't that nonsense only apply if a mod is used to make another mod, modder of first mod want his name on the other mod if you port some outfit from daz or another game, nobody gave a shit if you have the right to do it or gave credit to author not from skyrim modding community (unless it's fom oblivion or morrowind, same community) after a random mod was taken down because x didn't gave credit to y, x not happy x probably knew those hairs were from sims, those outfits from daz, those... and he was upset enought to waste his time to try to take down those mods because of the rule that took down his mod that got y mod deleted, and y not happy, because his mod was deleted, yet that mod that is also a port is still here etc etc it's because of that i had no problem when i start converting and uploading last year, asking the autorisation to convert and upload? never did that only whining i heard for the top model conversion was my links were dying (didn't know i could attach files to the topic) and when i switch to v4.2, and start uploading daz conversion, without trying to hide it's from daz, whining was i wasn't giving credit to krista for that that daz stuff got deleted by me because didn't like some demonica fanclub comments, nothing for them
TheDriedFinger Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 I remember those Dark Souls weapons mods. They were done from scratch I assure you. The modder actually streamed his work on Twitch. Very fascinating process.
