LordZero Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 When ever I play certain games, my computer starts to overheat. It skyrockets from 65 Celsius to 85 Celsius, even though the fan speeds are not changing. It usually stays that "just sitting there" fan speed. Then when it overheats, it shuts down my computer and the fans go full blast when I turn it on again. I'm not sure how to solve this. I use Speedfan and fixed some of the settings but it didn't seem to change anything. Only my Speed06 controls only one of my fans (Fan2 #2). Even at 100%, it's the "just sitting there" speed at 1700RPM. Help please. What should I do?
pinky6225 Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 What sort fan do you have? I recently installed a new case fan http://www.ebuyer.com/623366-noctua-nf-a9x14-pwm-slim-92mm-low-noise-fan-nf-a9x14 (although it could be used as a CPU heat sink fan) and it came with two sets of power cables - the regular ones (which i used) and the low noise ones which are meant to fix the maximum fan speed to about 1200 RPM so its possible you have something similar
LordZero Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I'm not sure what type of fan it is since it has been a while. I know that it is an amd fan but not which type.I just don't know why my fan speed is still the same for certain games but goes berserk on others. EDIT: I cleaned out the dust in the heat sink. I guess that that worked since my temperature dropped into the 40s surprisingly. I guess I can handle these fan speed if it stays low enough. Thanks for reply.
