IS it possible to install FNV twice on the same computer?  I want to keep my current install all modded to the max.  and then install a second version to do tale of two wastelands.

Switch to Mod Organizer, and you won't have to. It's just a click away, and you can set it up so that none of the mods interact with each other in harmful ways :)

It might be possible to just install the MO and TTW and the extras required for that and leave the original mod manager alone. Risky but might be doable until you can transfer the programs over to MO.

See the original mod manager has the files in the DAta folder. MO can see the data folder however won't be able to handle any conflicts with those files.. (reason for a proper full MO install :)) however it should be able to "inject" the TTW files into the game at run time when you want a TTW profile to run. Of course this is not the way you are suppose to mod or even use managers as using only one manager is the best practice. Oh.. you can use MO to start the manager of your choice (NMM, FOMM) and have it install the mods.. Then those files would be in the "overwrites" folder for you to create a mod out of later.

Again, and again I will mention it is risky and little help can be given for using the above method. Best is to reinstall all the files using MO for best results.

Another choice might be to have two steam accounts and just get another copy of FNV.. Not sure how the mods work with Steam and accounts. Might just have the same files.

Third choice... removable drive. Yep.. get a removable drive if you have an open 5.35 drive bay.. Map the steam folder to that with your mods and just change out the drive to get to another steam account mod setup..

Or just do what most here has done.. nuke their install.. install MO.. their mods and be done with the entire process. Just change out the mods as needed when needed. ;).. This choice is the absolutely best choice for this. If you do.. Helpful hint.. I created the TTW folder.. like normal however didn't create the fMOD... I just dropped the folder into MO mods folder.. Create a custom .ini tweak in the mods folder for this.. (there is more info .. if needed go to the unofficial thread here for more details) and clicked on it anytime I wanted a TTW profile. They have the info for the .ini tweaks for the "manual" install method on the TTW site.

I was thinking of changing the fnv folder to fnv backup. And the asking steam to reinstall the game on the othe drive. Then renaming back and forth depending on which version to play, and clearing online content so steam did not notice.

I have two computers but one is very slow, compared to this one.

I tried twice and never could get MO to work, when I was playing skyrim.

What issues were you having with it? If you follow Gopher's vids it's actually quite simple.

In case you won't use MO and its profiles... it's still possible: I have many installations of NV, I simply rename the folder with the one I want to start

So you change the folder name of the installs you do not want to use to something other than FNV  and that alone works?  Doesn't steam complain if the files do not match?

Gopher is the god of explaining things.  If I use MO can I have installs on different drives.  My SSD is almost full.

If you use MO you don't NEED installs on different drives. All you have to do is switch profiles to switch which mods are active.

ie: one profile could have your current mod set up, while a second has a TTW setup, and a third has a complete sexout fest, then a 4th that's just plain vanilla with lighting and weather mods, and a 5th that's loaded with new weapons and armors... yada yada so on, you get the idea.

Steam, when verifies the cache, always complains only because I install mods (so not because I have several folders). The trick for me is never verifying the cache. Even because, with the same method, I can simply make a duplicated of a brand new fresh install and simply replace it back when I want to reinstall - so I don't have really a single reason to verify cache.

If you do that.. Arcturus7777.. make sure you don't leave some random space or something after the name of the folder you want to use.;). That might cause Steam to have some issues as "Fallout New Vegas" might look different from "Fallout New Vegas ". to Steam..

Check Gophers video and if possible try again.. Less hassle once you get the hang of it.. Also there is a thread here that can help you along the tough spots whereever they might be.

I changed the current folders by adding the word backup. Installed fnv and f3 On drive E:. I Been using NMM, so I installed fomm on drive e: and I put ttw on drive E:

All this was because my drive C: is full.

I got it all working, added a couple mods, and started a test just to get out of the vault. It worked.

However, so some reason every time I add a mod my available space on my C: drive goes down, and I can not find where or what files form is putting there. My C: drive is completely full, and I can not find any thing to delete. There is no fnv, or fomm on drive c or fallout 3.

Only thing I can think of is steam is doing something, but I can not find out where

You were having problems leaving Vault 101 with TTW before this?

Couldn't be that it's the mod manager you are using which is making a copy of the mod in its subfolder which is located in C: ? FOMM would make something like that

Wouldn't that happen if you have FOMM installed in C and say your mods (steam ) installed in D: or something like that. You install your mods in Steam but the records and original copy would be stored in the FOMM folder in C.

Same dam thing happens with Origin.. :dodgy: Have to go in and customize the install locations and chase down every reference to C:/  I like having my modmanagers ... Game Services (Steam, Origin)... and backups in very specific locations so they are easy to backup..

It's a common issue with TTW. There's a thread on the site about it, and several saves up to, and including, the point where you go to leave the vault finally, and are asked to confirm race/sex, SPECIAL, skills... you know the drill. All the saves are unmodded, except what's needed to run TTW, so any mods you already have setup should work fine with those saves.

I'm the same way. I have my OS drive (C:), general data drive (A:), Game backups and mods (B:, and separated by game), Bethesda games (E:), and other games (F:)

I'm so OCD about how my files are organized that someone totally not used to my PC could sit down and find any file I asked them to find. lol

Oh okay. I have an account there but I haven't been on there in a long time. With the only exception of getting the latest version but I wasn't logged in. So it's safe to say that my CTD when I get the 10 years later flash screen is common?

Mine is "OS drive".. "Steam Drive"... "Origin Drive"... "Gamer Drive" (for tools mods etc)... "Data". (my personal files etc)..."Movies"...(quite a lot of them so there are 2 4tb drives for that labeled "DVD Drive 1"... "DVD Drive 2".. etc. My external are open (not in enclosures) and I use a dock for them.. They are in protective containers with lablels for each of those above drives and any other things that aren't on the computer like "Porn drive" and "porn drive backup" etc.

You are OCD.. I appear to be OCD and anal retentive.. :P

Yeah, it's pretty common. I can upload the save I use to exit once I get home.

Ok thanks. I'll have to log on there and snatch that savegame because that's what I've been wanting since I really don't care for the introduction.

All of the guides I use for Bethesda games are in my signature. Skyrim (I use my guide), Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Oblivion. However, I use Mod Organizer for Oblivion, not Wrye Bash as Hishutup says to use in his guide.

And really? Another guide? Ugh. Idk if I have that kind of energy, Ritual. I really don't. I have to deal with enough people not being able to follow my easy directions with Skyrim :/
