Factions and AI Question

Recommended Posts

Need some insight from the folks here at the smart site. :D

Since the CK wiki says jack about the effects of being an ally or friend of a faction, I'm hoping somebody here will know this.

Will a faction's members attack the enemy of an ally faction even if that person isn't in their own enemy faction?

IF that was hard to follow, let's say the player is neutral with faction A, but an enemy of faction B.  Faction B is an ally of faction A.  Will faction A's members attack the player IF they're set to aids friends and allies?   Just to clarify, I'm talking about if members of faction B are not even present.  I know allies will aid allies if they're actually there and in trouble.

Faction A won't attack the player because the player is neutral with Faction A. it's a direct effect.

something will only happen if a member of faction B is present as you pointed out. Faction B will attack the player, but if the player just stands around and takes it, faction A will not interfere. However if faction B attack the player and the player attacks back, faction A members will help faction B

Thanks.  I was pretty sure that was the case but there was a weird possible bug reported on my mod, so i was trying to confirm if it was not a faction issue.

As it turned out, it was a compatibility with another, poorly made mod that changed the AI and factions of alot of vanilla parts of the game.  Why people do that and fail to think of the gameplay consequences for mod & DLC compatibility are beyond me.
