A mod that makes Blades Armor light? (RCOTS compatible)

You could do it yourself easily enough in the creation kit

Edit: instructions on how to do it from an old forum post:

1. Install & Run the CK

2. In the upper-left corner, click "file", then select "data" from the dropdown
3. Double-click "skyrim.esm" ( you will now see an x it the box next to it), then do the same for the mod you wish to edit. Hit the button "set as active file" then ok. The CK will take a few minutes to load, when the error messages pop up just hit "yes to all"
4. In the "object window", you will see a list of all the different types of things in the game, go to "items" and expand the item options
5. in the tree under items, click on "armor". in the box to the right you will now see a list of every armor in the game. Find the one you want (note; everything is listed alphabetically by editor id, which is probably not the same as the in-game name, but anything added by the mod will have an * next to it)
6. double-click on the armor you want and a rather intimidating-looking window will pop up, but don't worry, ours is a simple edit. Find the box that says "heavy", hit the little dropdown arrow next to it, and select "light". Now hit ok at the bottom of the window.
7. now back to the "file"button, but this time select "save"
8. close the CK, your changes will now appear in-game

Here you go; BladesArmorLight.7z

It should be craftable, not sure where it will show as the material is blades, so it could be in the misc forge, its upgradeable as well,

It will show as blades armor light in both forge and inventory, should be something like blades armor boots light, I have not tested it in game though.

Well darn, I was trying to make it for him too but creation kit crashed on me, you win this round  :(

Hehe, I had an advantage as I already had cs open at the time, I am lootifying various player made armor mods, so you dont get the stupid missing torso or female torso on male body problems, tedious is the word more than anything :(

And making them as light, heavy and clothing while I'm at it, and rationalizing crafting recipes if any, and adding them if they are not present, and adding tempering to all armor versions, sigh, just realised how big a project I've just given myself.

Yup its in the misc section of the forge.

Sadly that's about all I know how to do in the creation kit, so I was trying to at least help the one person I could, maybe someday I will figure more of this thing out  :D

Most of my creation kit stuff was adding armors to leveled lists and npc mobs/vendors, that was before I found lootification, now its mostly sorting them out to work properly.

Ok sooo the mod seems to add an entirely different identical set of armor into the game. The thing is, I need the vanilla armor modified to be light because I'm using an RCOTS body, so I can only wear vanilla armors. Otherwise the armor won't show up.

It uses the same meshes and textures as the normal blades armor, from the skyrim.esm so not sure why it does not show for you.

Hmm, do you use a stand alone armor replacer for rcots?  If so you will need to use ck yourself or get somebody who has the same armor replacer installed to make a new version.

Do you get images for it when you go into the forge to make it?

Oh it all shows up in the forge, but is invisible when I equip it. I think if the vanilla item is altered instead of something new being made, it would work.

It should be vanilla, all I did was load skyrim.esm and update.esm into ck, then go to the blades armour, rename by adding light to the end of the name, then adding construction details for it, all vanilla assets.

Let me load the game and check it out, see if its visible when I craft it, if not ill check mod in ck see what i missed/messed up.

Yeah I do. It's only when I equip it that it turns invisible.

The RCOTS armor mod  seems to switch vanilla armor to the rcots version apparently, so when you equip mine it will probably just swap it out for the same armor you had before (which would still be heavy)

"The armor pack will switch armor to RCOTS armors when you equip them on one of the RCOTS races. It will not change the armors for vanilla races.

It Can be used with a mod that change the armors of vanilla races only if this one don't use an esp !!"

I think in order to fix that someone would have to change the values in the rcots armor mod, lemme give it a try.

And I just deleted the esp I had made  :-/

Lemme make it again real fast.

Edit: here, this should just change the vanilla armor to light.

This one works wooo!

Thanks all of you for the help :D

So it did work? was the armor you had equipped still showing as light?

Varithina, it is because he is using a mod that changes the vanilla armor to the children of the sky version, so it did not see the armor you made because it didn't have the vanilla item id

Ok this is super wierd, I have just the vanilla armor with different stats, so everything ought to be working but the body armor refuses to show. Gloves, boots, and helmet is working fine.

I'm beginning to think that no matter what I do, I'd need a separate RCOTS conversion ESP... bleh...

Do you have my mod loading before the RCOTS armor addon? If you do... I think you would have to change the rcots esp, I would be willing to give it a try but I need to go to work soon so it would have to be later tonight.

Edit: and I am  not sure if I would be able to do it anyway, I have only actually used the creation kit about 6 times now so I don't really know how it works.

I wouldn't want to bother you about it. Just give it a try if you feel like taking it on :)

EDIT: Also when I changed it to above the RCOTS conversion mod, the chest armor appeared by was classified as heavy armor, even though all the other bits were light.
