redbird Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 (I hope this is okay and the right place to post this. I was gonna put it in general discussion but I specifically want Skyrim screencaps, so.) I am practicing my art with a drawing a day this month! Naturally, the moment I sit down, pen in hand, I have no idea what to draw. I was just going to troll the screencaps threads and pick stuff I like, but I don't want to post other peoples' stuff without permission and what's the point of drawing this stuff if I can't show it off, right? So! Show me a favorite screencap or two (tell me a little about them if you want) and I'll draw my favorites. Clean or dirty, it doesn't matter. (Just one caveat: no extreme gore, please.) I've never really drawn porn before though... you could say I'm... an art virgin? ;P
Kaos Wulf Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Can we get a preview of stuff you've drawn before? Would give others an idea of what level you're at in your art and may help to get interest in the thread.
Guest Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 looking at my lame graphics, thought this would suffice since its simple
DomDate Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I don't want to poo poo on you. This is just meant as a caution. The Skyrim world space incorporates a lot of cheats. Particularly in the areas of lighting and colour physics. Much of what happens in the real world also does not occur in the physics of the game simply because of the CPU cycle, and memory cost that kind of recreated reality would entail. Even the best of the 3D renderers take short cuts (although they get impressively close). So, if you are doing this to have fun and you like the topic, have at it! But, if you are doing this as an exercise to improve your eye as an artist, well, I strongly suggest looking to the world around you. Fantasy illustration is for pleasure and contract - Life is for study. I say this as someone who has made a living illustrating. I've been a paid illustrator in one capacity or other since I was 15. I turned 48 yesterday. It's just some advise I offer based on my experiences and in some instances, own frustrations. I offer it with the best and kindest of intentions.
ao2thend Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Well I'm not sure if this is what your looking for, but here are some shots you can try to draw. I couldn't think of any shots that were particularly special because I take too many shots (I've taken 3,070 Skyrim screenshots in 2015 alone if that gives you an idea). Hope this helps. Landscape shots. Character shots.
redbird Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Art level: very low-level professional, haha. I have a website here. Before I go on, do you guys mind if I share some of the clean ones (my own work, not your screenshots, obvs) elsewhere? DomDate -- Thank you! I know this stuff but I do genuinely appreciate the cautions just the same! Don't worry -- I am also collecting references to do master studies over the next few days, but that will be the likes of Klimt and Mucha, not Skyrim. xD My passion is comics/animation so I've studied that a lot (as well as 2D game art), and I've done a lot of studying life, so I'm trying to branch out to types of practice I usually don't do. My devious alternate motive here: I'm hoping by asking other people to choose screenshots for me, I'll be forced to try angles and subjects that I need to practice but otherwise wouldn't think of or would avoid subconsciously. noscoper -- Your graphics are fine! What a babe, thanks for letting me doodle her; hope you don't mind my interpretation. I may have half-assed it a bit at the end (I was gonna draw the bg too but we can see where that went oh wellp) but it's 4 am I'm allowed wahaha. Might color her later but now sleepytimes. ao2thend -- I'm not sure how much I can use landscape shots, since obviously it's textures on 3D models and not real rocks and stuff, but I like some of the interesting atmospheric stuff, especially the interiors, and you have a good eye for composition. The characters look fun to draw. I love interesting faces a lot. Some of your screencaps are more artistic than me ahahaaaaa~ If my Skyrim looked like that, I'd be molesting my screencap button, too, holy geez. Whiterun Guard: "The Cloud District has been obliterated by dragons! Dragonborn... where were you?" Me: "I'm so sorry, I was busy weeping at the beauty of this pile of clutter in my home. Look at this cup. Look at it. It's glorious."
Silver Wolf Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 pick anything you want from my flckr https://www.flickr.com/photos/123945380@N07/
Sai_hira Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 A profound choice to make, the ways of the brotherhood, or the orders of the master?

Jexsam Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Requisite female shot. It's in profile too so that might be a different thing to try. Or if you'd rather try something really different, you could draw... a male character.
Kaos Wulf Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Ok, that piqued my interest. Here's a favorite of mine.
Silver Wolf Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I would like you to draw my Abigail And/or Veronica, I'm going to release her as a follower soon, so a hand-draw picture would be really nice on her bannr If you want some different pictures, check the link on my sign
Vivi Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Oh this thread looks good I would love to see this drawn ^^
Guest Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Poor guy, you're going to get inundated by people taking advantage of you for totally selfish reasons... ...here's a small selection for consideration:
KumamonTheWorshiper Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 If you're looking for some cool screenshots without the sexy stuff that you usually see everyday in Skyrim modding community, well look no further: Here's my nexus and deviantart account if you're looking for more of my screenshots. http://www.nexusmods.com/games/users/4079414/? http://worshipthesatan.deviantart.com/
Guest Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 If you're looking for some cool screenshots without the sexy stuff that you usually see everyday in Skyrim modding community, well look no further: ~snip~ Here's my nexus and deviantart account if you're looking for more of my screenshots. http://www.nexusmods.com/games/users/4079414/? http://worshipthesatan.deviantart.com/ Man, those look so cool ! Mind sharing tips on how to take such good screenshots?
Serithi Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Sure, i'll throw in a few. Second one's an au naturel shot fresh out of the shower, hence the wetness and such. Third one'll probably be more shading practice than anything else , was showing off the ENB i installed.
Trollirious Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 wow so many too bad i don't have anything worthy to show since i don't use ENB to enhance my characters but i do wish you luck though
redbird Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 For the record, I don't need screenshots that look artsy or have great resolution. In fact, the stuff that makes for beautiful screenshots -- really dark/rich shadows and bright brights, depth of field, fancy screen effects -- can actually be detrimental in this case. (Sorry for not saying so earlier. It didn't really occur to me!) So anyway, definitely share your screenshots anyway, even if you don't think they're fancy. :3 I was super busy today so I'm drawing now! It was hard to pick! You guys are amazing at taking screenshots, wow.
Trollirious Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Well when you put it that way i feel much better! you can give it a try I can understand if you not good with fairies ^ 3 ^
Jexsam Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 i don't have anything worthy to show since i don't use ENB to enhance my characters Never let that stop you. Sure as hell doesn't stop me.
FauxFurry Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 An opportunity to play patron to The Arts without breaking my bank account? I'm in! Rather than try to narrow it down to my own favorites, I decided to let you pick from an assortment of images of varying complexity which shouldn't prove excessively challenging to draw in a day(granted one forgoes coloring some of the images entirely).
