Kb13016 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I wanted to install the Ninghelm race mod last night, so i also installed the mods "x32 skeleton fix" and "Race compatability for custom races" as well as the Ninghelm mod itself. SKSE has been refusing to load via the desktop or Nexus Mod Manager. It will however load via mod organiser and shows a $ sign when looking in racemenu or SKSE's mod configuration menus. I have since replaced SKSE, SkyUi and Racemenu and I'm still having the same issue. Any advice is welcome. This is what Racemenu looks like when i load it via ModOrganiser
Alpia Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 SKSE has been refusing to load via the desktop or Nexus Mod Manager. It will however load via mod organiser I'm kinda confused by this sentence if you use MO to "install" mods you are aware that its impossible to use these mods when you start your game via NMM or SKSE itself? MO installs mods not in your data folder so starting with NMM sounds to me like you should read some tutorials about MO also if you have SKSE installed in MO like you should have it, how do you think it should work if you start it with NMM. Do you have SKSE installed in MO? From your description it sounds like you did not inform you well about MO
sbire Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 looks like missing translation or strings; vanilla_strings.zip dawnguard_strings.zip hearthfire_strings.zip dragonborn_strings.zip just to have test; backup your old ones and have a test with that. just to put you in a direction.... http://skyrimforums.org/sf/threads/glitch.14768/ i'm not a big friend of using automated modmanager with skyrim. i use wrye bash to check my load order and to verify some details. applying mods are manually are the best way, to my opinion. because you know where the files are and you will know what you've done, hopefully.
Kb13016 Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 I installed the mods via Nexus Mod Manager and ran SKSE from the mod manager which caused the crashes. Using Mod Organiser allowed me to enter the game and take the screenshot.
Dubhorizon Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Make sure everything Racemenu related is checked in the load order. Seems like MO loads the bsa and the .esp is present in your load order but not activated.
Alpia Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I installed the mods via Nexus Mod Manager and ran SKSE from the mod manager which caused the crashes. Using Mod Organiser allowed me to enter the game and take the screenshot. No wonder it dosen't work then... use loot or tesV edit and make sure you have all dependencies if you don't use MO you should at least use wyre bash instead starting with NMM if you crash to desktop when starting skse you obviously miss dependencies... Loot is simple sorts your loadorder and shows you errors TesV edit is more advanced if you start it and load up all your plugins its like starting skyrim it will show you whatever errors you have with your mods
gvman3670 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 You either manually removed a line from SKSE or SKSE isn't able to be read by MO. I did this once when I used to manually install/uninstall mods. I deleted something in SKSE strings that I shouldn't have and got the dollar signs. On Nexus there is a fix for it that you can put in to fix this issue. I would strongly suggest starting fresh. Reinstall the game after deleting all relevant folders, nuke Nexus Mod Manager, and start using MO properly and use ONLY Mod Organizer for isntalling mods. You can avoid this nonsense from ever happening again this way, and you'll never need to reinstall the game again either.
gvman3670 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Here. Download this, unzip it, then drag and drop into Skyrim/data/strings. It should fix it. If not then you are stuck with a reinstall, and remember to NOT add or remove things from the /data/ folder and use MO to manage mods. Strings.7z
