ErikModi Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 So, I've taken my first steps into actually creating some mods. Nothing really fancy, just a few custom followers (because there aren't nearly enough of those around, right?) Anyway, the first one worked pretty well. Made my usual female toon a sexy teenage daughter (of whatever qualifies as age of majority in Skyrim, calm down.) Now I'm working on a Dunmer mage follower, but I've hit a slight snag. I want her to use a custom body, different from what I usually use for the other PCs. But I can't figure out how to get that to show up in the game. I read some tutorials on the Nexus, and they talked about creating a custom race for such a follower, but I didn't see how the two topic relate to each other. Anyone who has experience creating fully standalone followers with custom bodies able to give me a hand with this?
xxsleepyxx Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I have a couple days experience lol. but i watched something on this earlier. go to armor addon and type naked. and duplicate hands body feet. and i dont remember the specifics, but that should point u in the right direction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PZiRyT_mOQ
Veladarius Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 The race of the character determines the body information, if you want someone to use a different body then they need to be a different race.
ErikModi Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 But how do you set that up is my question? I checked out a custom-body follower I'd downloaded (Sansa The Lonely Princess), and she was listed as Nord Race in the CK. I see the steps needed to create a custom race, but how does that apply to actually assigning the body of that race to the follower, and how do they then still count as being a vanilla race? I'm very confused.
azmodan22 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 You dont need a different race. You need to make armor addons from the body (torso, hands and feet), then make an armor from those parts and use that armor as the NPCs skin.
Veladarius Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 azmodan22 is correct. Look at the Armor SkinNaked, you will need to make the same thing but with the custom armor addons for the new body. Once you have it you can set the npc to use the new skin using the Skin dropdown in the Traits tab of the npc (just under race). Learn something new every day.
ErikModi Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Having a different spot of bother with the afforementioned daughter. Tried changing the eye color in the CK, and got persistent Dark Face. Finally redid the head completely, but I still can't get the eye color I want, and the brows aren't matching the hair. Not sure what I've messed up this time.
azmodan22 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 did you exctrat the NPCs FaceGeom? Click on the NPC and press ctrl+F4
ErikModi Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 did you exctrat the NPCs FaceGeom? Click on the NPC and press ctrl+F4 Many times. Used NifMerge many times, changed them manually in CK many times. Also, kind of back to my original question. . . found the SkinNaked and made a new form for this NPC. Now I can't figure out how to get the shape data from Bodyslide into the Form for the naked skin. EDIT: Think I found a good tutorial video explaining it. Working.
ErikModi Posted January 2, 2015 Author Posted January 2, 2015 Hitting another REALLY WEIRD snag. Looking for the Bodyslide files in the Skyrim Data directory, and there are no folders there in Explorer (and yes, I have it set to show hidden files and folders.) CK can find them, but when I try and 'open in a new window' through CK, I get some message about how the location is not available. I have no idea what's going on there. EDIT: Ugh, okay. Got it KIND OF working. Bad neck gap, so I exported face data again. Moved the meshes into the actual folder I'm setting up for this mod, and now she's got NO body at all. Is Mod Organizer screwing me up on this somehow?
