When Is A Mod Worth Keeping?

I did a new install and tried some of the things that I have learned here and I'm throwing a tratrum here.(Really...I'm on the floor kicking and sucking my thumb). I installed all my favorite mods and opened uo the Papyrus log and lo and behold...goodbye mods.I found out that skytemplehaven enhanced,hentai pregancy,dudstiela multiple marriages and the manniquen fix all had bad errors in my log.Tossed em' all out and my log size is cut down 80%.I love these mods,but is having a scriptfree error game really worth it?I understand that some of the scripts have to run,but are they a way you can manually stop the scripts before I make a game save.I notice that my saves are basically free of errors now when I run the save cleaner on the save.I really want Hentai pregancy but to me all the active scripts really makes the choice for me.To all the peeps that I'm learing this from,(looong slooow handclap) sharing your knowledge with us is AWESOME!

To answer your question, when is a mod worth keeping? To me it comes down too this. Does the mod make the game more enjoyable to play than it is with out the mod. If yes then it is worth having. Of course course by enjoyable to play I also mean dealing with any bugs and performance issues.

 

Like for example I use a lot of graphical mods so much that sometimes when going to a knew area I get some short stutters as stuff is loaded in. It is not bad and only briefly happens. But the game looks much better because of it, so I consider it worth the price of occasional stutters for the game to look so much better. Other people might prefer smooth performance as more important. So really it comes down to a matter of personal opinion.

I think your going about this the wrong way since having papyrus logging on by itself is a performance cost when i asked that question (http://www.loverslab.com/topic/36389-performance-cost-for-papyrus-logging/?do=findComment&comment=913502) so i don't think its ever going to be possible to get a clean papyrus log since its not designed to be on by default and have a clean state so your getting entries that aren't errors/important/something it couldn't cope with.

 

After asking the above and turning it off i noticed scripted events ran a lot faster (most likely as intended by the mod authors) and stability itself improved so you might want to turn it off and then only turn it on when you get crash amd use performance with it off as a baseline for whether a mod is worth it.

My game runs so much better now,but I gotta have my hentai pregnancy mod in there.Guess you have to pick the sword to fall on I guess when it comes to choosing mods in general.For me trying to limit the scripts in Skyrim is such a pain in the backside,but I can  play with 0 ctds and very minimual lag at 60 fps.Some of the mods that I have used for a long time got filed in the garbage can,except for the Hentai preg.,mr.nutluck swayed me to keep it,cause ya gotta admit,...sure is a fun mod.Guess I'm just trying to overthink with my game,gonna relax, smoke one,and enjoy the experience.

Though as Pinky said you should turn papyrus off unless you are having problems, since it impacts your performance.

Ooops, missed the part about turning the logging off.It does make sense to me now,thanks for giving me a ah-hah moment.For the tip the pinky6225 for turning off the logging,you can have my yatch for the weekend,enjoy.
