MKV to MP4 Converter With Minimal to No Quality Loss?

Well like the title says, I've recently got a few movies that are in MKV format, and I want to convert to MP4 without taking 1-2 hours each a regular convertor would take to re encode everything and still up with with a loss in video quality.

It's there any programs that can do a simple mkv to mp4 and still have it work with itunes or apple products like an itouch/ipad/iphone?

I've tried a few but they've mostly converted the mkv into a mp4 but the file shows no video in itunes and doesen't open in windows media player, but works fine in VLC player and such.

I've tried handbrake, but that takes forever and there's quite a bit of quality loss, and too many things to tinker with the settings.

There is also "FreeMake" and works really well. depending on the size of the movie/video it can be relitively quick. but does a very good job of converting and/or convert and burn to dvd.

Have you tried HandBreak. (Mac and Windows)

I've used it on my anime episodes and it takes around 3 minutes for each 24 minute episode.

I've used handbrake, do you just use the normal preset for your conversions? How's the quality compared to the original?

That does only work with mp4 supported codecs for video and audio, and if the device/software supports the video/audio codec the mkv originally has.

That convertor is no long existing it has transcended into it's new form :D

Shana Encoder, while the mkv has different codec and has to be re encoded Shana Enconder (which is the newer version of the one you've linked in the video) is pretty good and only took 2 minutes for me to encode a 24 min in 720p bluray episode.

I don't see any quality drop to my naked eye also.

EDIT

Actually there's a bit of a quality drop but only notice-able when there's gradients or a sharp contrast in color from like a blue to a black. It's slightly more pixelated, but on the grand-scheme of things barely noticeable.

I haven't noticed any quality loss in my anime while matching the original files video size, subs do get lost thou because mp4 don't support them.

I have used default settings for my son's ipod and they look great in the tiny 4 inch screen.

Compatibility with apple using default settings seems to always work.  In my Ainol (yes it's pronunced "anal" lol) tablet i just reduce it to the screen size, 1280x720, in MKV since android can play them.

Hope it helps :)

I usually burn my subs in because I prefer subtitles always enabled. So that way they are always there even if the platform doesn't support subtitles.

And on such a tiny screen like an ipod touch yea you won't notice any quality drop unless you use extreme quality settings in either direction. But when you have a larger screen like your computer screen or big 'ol 55 inch screen TV, yea you want as much detail saved as possible.

I like to watch them in the living room anyways :D
