Weirdest Skyrim Crash

Whenever I try to load my Skyrim though SKSE, it will load up until the menu, then the smoke will pop up and then the crash will happen. When I load though the Steam launcher it will work fine until I load a new game, then it will crash.

I've tried to fix it by:

-Sound fix

-Un-install and re-install

-Manual deletion of files

-Downloading to another drive

-Changing Skyrim specs

-Re-installing ENB

-Re-installing SKSE

-Disabling all mods

-Using TES5Edit, Loot, and similar to fix the problem.

-Running with memory patch

-Running without memory patch

-Deleting all saves

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you do anything to your PC before you had this issue? Hardware changes or Video Drivers something along those lines?

I had done nothing before this issue, Skyrim had launch perfectly a few hours before the issue.

Crap sorry I couldn't help you out with this seeing as I've never heard of what your going through now just hope someone here will be of more use. My only thought is to do a full uninstall and clean up all left over files and try from the very beginning with a fresh install. Simple uninstall program like Revo Uninstaller is great for cleaning up junk left in the registry.

I deleted my Skyrim (boo) But I have a back up from a while back, so I'll be okay. I've only really just got back into Skyrim modding so I only got around 5-8 new mods so not much is lost.

Hehe well good luck to ya, I've been running about 150+ and sadly adding and removing mods tend to corrupt my save so its back to the beginning. LoL cheers to Mod Organizer for keeping things clean.

Delete everything

Reintall Steam from a fresh download.. not backup. Sucks but yea your back up might have some issues as well which let to this. Maybe not now but in the future. Had some thing similar, fresh downloads solved loads of problems.

Start and set up Skyrim as normal .. no mods or other things added. Not even SKSE. Make sure Skyrim starts.

Add the base programs such as SKSE, Creation KIt, TESedit then try again. While at it make sure all other programs work.

Make a backup at this point somewhere. (could do a steam backup as well if you want)

Now install the mod manager and make sure you can launch SKSE etc through the manager of your choice. Play the game a few levels. Not much.

Then start adding mods. Slowly at first. Might be a mod that is corrupting something in game. ;).

Generally after this unless there is some .Net issues etc you should be fine. Make sure you are fully backup and have the proper supported programs versions (.net etc.)

That is about all I can give you. If that don't work.. and you can figure out the problem.. perhaps a OS reinstall is in order as it is something with your system.

Oh.. Perhaps a memtest or even hard drive test as well. Might be hardware. I had a memory error that showed it's ugly head when my memory exceeded 8 gigs or so. Not so much below.

Hi there!

i had the same kind of Crash when i installed Skyrim. right after the Smoke comes up in the Menu it CTD.

The Solution was that my Installation was missing some Data in the Data/Strings Folder so it crashed right then when he trys to load the Menu Text.

Its been a while since i made/fixed that so i dont know which files i was missing.

Mabe someone here can help you trying to find which files you are missing.  (IF its the same problem that i had)

Sry for the English ;)

I got it to load up to the menu, but now it won't load a new game.

We're getting somewhere!

Instead open the command console at the menu and type coc qasmoke to start a new game. Then load a pre-existing save if there's one. If there isn't, maybe someone can create one at the start of Helgen for you. Ideally ofcourse, it should work as intended.
