Morferous Posted November 20, 2014 Share Posted November 20, 2014 I have a little problem. All Khajiit and Argonian characters in my game have stiff tails. They are just sticking out and unmoving. This is apparently somehow related to skeleton (XPMSE), but I do not know how to fix it. I asked help from Groovtama, but unfortunately I did not understood his advices. I consider myself relatively experienced with Skyrim modding, but this matters with skeletons and files related to them are completely new to me.With this matter, I should be treated like someone without any prior knowledge about the matter. I am sure that files and their locations are obvious for those working with them, but I have no idea what I am supposed to be looking at.I am managing my files with Mod Organizer. My current files in test profile are (in order and all in their latest versions): SKSE (scripts) DLCs + Unofficial patches (in proper loading order) HDT RaceMenu (plugin disabled, in favor of XPMSE) SkyUI FNIS Alternative start XPMSE- I have re-installed my game today, to start troubleshooting this. Once done, Khajiit tails worked properly in LAL cell, without skeleton and HDT.- Tails stop to function after I install XPMSE. Having HDT active or disabled does not seem to fix the problem.Groovtama gave me following advices: That tails don't work can have 2 reasons:1. the hkx file the tail points to in the extra string in the nif is missing if you use a "vanilla" like animated tail2. the xml file the tail points to in the HDT Physics Extra String is missing when you use HDT animated tails or HDT is not functioning.---  For both you just have to look up the nifand the file pathes and maybe for 2 if the xml gets loaded. OP Says: HOW 2 PEPARE TAILS TO WORK WITH THE TAIL POSITION SLIDERS:1. Open the tail mesh into nifskope2. Replace the following node names with the new ones- "NPC Pelvis [Pelv]" => "Tail"- "NPC Spine [spn0]" => "NPC Tail Spine [spn0]"- "NPC L Thigh [LThg]" => "NPC Tail L Thigh [LThg]"- "NPC R Thigh [RThg]" => "NPC Tail R Thigh [RThg]"3. Save I have been running around with my folders, but I do not know where to start. I have been searching skeleton with NifScope, without being able to locate files mentioned. I do not know what hkx -file I am supposed to find or what to do with it, if I locate it.Could someone help to get this solved? It would be nice, if Khajiit and Argonian tails would work in my game. Now they are just stiffs. As a person who literally launched NifScope first time in his life today, I have no idea what to do.Angry responses are not going to help. I have read and tried out that I could think of. If there is a simple solution to this, then I will thank and laugh about it. But - when I can't even locate these files -, this really does not feel so simple to me right now.  Edit: I made another profile to check this. Load order is the following. Mod order is the same, except SOS has been moved above SexLab for PapyrusUtil compatibility. SKSE (scripts) DLCs + Unofficial patches (in proper loading order) SexLab SexLab Aroused Schlongs of Skyrim HDT CBBE ECE (just femalehead.nif) SG Female Textures Renewal RaceMenu (plugin disabled, in favor of XPMSE) SkyUI FNIS Alternative start XPMSE  Same result. Everything else works properly, including SOS, but Khajiit tails still do not work. I forgot to enable Papyrus Logs. I will go back and make them, if they are needed. Link to comment

If you have vanilla-like tail replacers, you need to make sure the .hkx file is linked properly to the respective .nif mesh file. Likewise, if you have an HDTPE-compatible tail, you need to make sure the .xml is linked properly to the respective .nif mesh file. If using neither replacers, the tails should be able to work with the skeleton you have installed. Tail meshes should be found in the "Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets" folder (if they are not there, then you should be using the vanilla tails by default).  Tail mesh filenames are:   femaletailargonian.nif femaletailkhajiit.nif maletailargonian.nif maletailkhajiit.nif    The next lines referring to the tail sliders are most likely referring to RaceMenu options and is unrelated to the tail animation, just tail placement during character edits with the other mod.  If you are using any custom idle animations, make sure you run FNIS after installing such animations. Now they are stiffs again - with or without HDT active. This is why all of it feels so strange. I tried custom HDT tails, but my game only crashed to desktop, when I was trying to load a game. New game did not work any better. I managed to create new game, but it crashes before loading the LAL cell. Â I also re-downloaded HDT and made sure that my hard drive is intact. This really does not make any sense. FNIS shouldn't generate a file that should overwrite stuff from XPMSE2.  FNIS output is left in to Overwrite folder in Mod Organizer. There is no other place for it, like in NMM. While I am usually using other patchers, like SkyProc patchers for SkyRe and Wintermyst, I have made separate mods from them all, to prevent output data from getting corrupted.  So far running the game without this data in game was problematic. When I run FNIS I move the files from the overwrite folder into the FNIS "Profile Name". Â You can now have the Race Menu Plugin, and the Race Menu Plugin XPMSE both active at the same time. Â Make sure Your Skyrim Data Folder does not have any meshes Folder, or textures Folder. Â I do not know if Mod Organiser would actually use anything from the overwrite folder in the Game. Â FNIS output would that new mod you recommended generating. I didn't specify in this post, because I mentioned it above as "FNIS Overwrite". I was not aware that I could use both plugins with that. I will have to test it out. Thank you for telling me this. Â Skyrim was completely re-installed today, including deleting the whole Skyrim folder. There are no extra folders there. I even validated files with clean cache, afterr stiff tail problem did not go away. Link to comment

bradleyh Posted November 21, 2014 Share Posted November 21, 2014 I was able to duplicate the stiff tails using MO Profiles. I installed My variations of the Mods used in Post #3. When I made a Profile using Race Menu 2-9-6, removing FNIS 5.2.1 Beta fixed the stiff tails on Argonians and Khajiit. Removing Race Menu 3A3 fixed the problem when Race Menu 3A3 was used. I should be having stiff tails on all of My playable Profiles, but I do not. I believe it is a Script conflict, but I do not have the free time to build up the Profiles to find out why I do not have the problem on My Playable Games. EDIT 11-21 @ 8:26 CST The Race Menu Alpha 3A3 Removal fixing Tails is still causing Me to have a WTF Moment. FNIS 5.2 does not include the meshes\auxbones and does not cause problems. I was using the Beta. Link to comment

Your problem is this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1998484-all-the-tails-on-the-beast-races-are-perfectly-straight/ Â Solution given by Fore is to Steam VerifyCache (as always when you have unexplainable animation problems) Look if you have a folder meshes/auxbones/tails. I installed My variations of the Mods used in Post #3. When I made a Profile using Race Menu 2-9-6, removing FNIS 5.2 fixed the stiff tails on Argonians and Khajiit. Removing Race Menu 3A3 fixed the problem when Race Menu 3A3 was used. I should be having stiff tails on all of My playable Profiles, but I do not. I believe it is a Script conflict, but I do not have the free time to build up the Profiles to find out why I do not have the problem on My Playable Games. Interesting. I am using RaceMenu 2.9.6. At least there is something to start now.  I am still stumped. Where the heck could the problem be?  Had the same problem with you, how I solved it. Rename that, and see what happens. I'm 99% sure the second solution will work for you.  I made a clean cache file verification yesterday twice. First attempt was when I noticed this problem. Then I made a full re-installation for my game (deleted Skyrim folder and configuration files, after uninstalling the content.) Then I did another clean cache file verification later during the evening.  I think my files are intact.  The latter note was interesting. I searched my drive for tail yesterday, but for some reason did not notice this; "auxbones" was a better search words. Renaming the folder did not fix my problem.  ----  I think I have to stress out that I am not trolling here. This is happening and bradleyh's lead is only one I have. So far it has not helped me to solve this, thoguh, so every suggestion might be helpful.   Mmhhh If it is tail behaviour, it could be FNIS Creature 5.1 that is maybe conflicting with the FNIS 5.2 version...  Because that is generating a new tail behaviour.  I did not see this, while I was testing Dubhorizon's suggestion. I have Creature Pack 5.1 installed with 5.2. While Khajiit are vanilal "creatures" I take that FNIS handles the tail behavior and I should try without the Creature Pack? Link to comment

Deleting the meshes\auxbones by opening FNIS 5.2 in the left pane and using the filetree works. Link to comment
