Myst42 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Hey guys Been absent cause busy Got new GPU (NVidia GeForce GT630) Not sure if everything's gonna run fine but I owe it at least a try, so it's a freaking shitstorm right now on my PC as I reinstall everyting Started with Oblivion, no mods yet, and I'm testing ENB Hardly managed to install A Tweaked ENB (ATE) cause I got messed up and forgot to disable stuff from GPU control panel, now it works, yet I'm still paranoid in case it's not working like it should I also intend to test those other ENB that came out lately even with that black screen thingy So the thing is, I want to learn about this stuff (ENBs) My concerns are: I want something with DOF, I love DOF, but I want it working correctly, a clear focus area, blurry backgrounds, perhaps something toggleable so I can turn it off when it's not needed. On another installation, i never could make it work with any mod, the whole screen got blurry and there was no focus point I want something that allows nice water, I was Using OBGE - Liquid Water previously, but it's incompatible with newer versions of ENB Thing is, Liquid Water is the best water mod I know, and I'm not sure if any ENB is capable of competing with that, for the moment, ATE looks just as bad as vanilla water Here: Liquid v/s Vanilla: Notice the way the edge of the water line is smooth with the first one Perhaps a water retexture mod can make this better but which one? there are a lot to choose from, which one would you guys recommend? In sum, what's the best ENB in your opinion and can I have all the benefits I want with them? Or perhaps it's still a better option to remain using OBGE and all it's features to mimic the efects of more modern ENBs? PS: I'm also gonna need similar information for Skyrim, perhaps now it'll finally work with an ENB... I'll be looking for that mod that makes everything green in it, cause those grey colors in everything are so boring and I'm tired of winter... there was a "spring like" mod but I'm not sure were... well that belongs in Skyrim talk I guess...
HughMann Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I've got a GT 630 too. I don't have Oblivion, but I run Skyrim with an ENB without any issues.
xartom Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 My favorite ENB is the photorealistic one gives the game a nice dark quality. I just tweaked the settings further in the ini until it 'looked right' to me. Only bad thing I've noticed is I have to hide enb's dlls when I try to play with scripting in cse. Haven't checked out the water mods yet.
Myst42 Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Ok, not many replies I see... But anyway Tried that photorrealistic ENB Gave weird flickering effect on game Looked if anybody else got that issue and found solution Solution was to turn off Ambient Occlusion and now it works at least... Still miss my bloody water Thing is, I had OBGE Liquid Water which also included Real Lava mod It was beautiful and perfect Now I had to Install Real Lava apart, move it almost to the end of load order Water remains a tough decision as I had 2 choices -Realistic Water mod -Lush and Gaudy Water mod None of them are as good as LW (though they are both really good mods) and seeing I installed another environment mod "Atmospheres 2" environment was a factor RW is more normal-ish but it messes with lava L&G is like "tropical" water, but at least it's very pretty so I went with that one, even if realism just went to hell It's a high price to pay for an ENB... for the moment, I hope it's worth it...
Nightwynd Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Ooh, ENB thread. I am very much like you. I spent ages deciding between OBGE with LW and ENB, but in the end ENB won. Skyrimized Water looks good with ENB, and looks great with Atmospheres. As for what ENB is better, it depends on what you like. If you like bright, clear stuff try CR ENB. If you like more artsy stuff ATE is great. And for dark and cinematic DDD Enb and New Dimension are good. I'll add some comparison images at the end of my post. For the DOF I use the attached file. It is similar to OBGE's circle and hexagon DOFs but works way better. Oh, and finally, the flickering happens because of a conflict between ENB and some leftovers from OBGE. Make sure you don't have Constants.fx and TransferZ.fx. in your oblivion/shaders folder. These two cause the AO flickering with certain graphic cards. Also, you will have to remove the OBGE dll. otherwise it will CTD without these two files. Maybe this will be useful to you! Day Night Ruins Caves enbeffectprepass.rar
